    Chicken fajitas

Quaint little taqueria in caste valley. Ordered the chicken fajitas and my partner got the chicken enchiladas. I also got the Jamaica which was absolutely delicious and probably the best I've had state side so far. We were greeted right away and ordered paid and sat down. Food came out relatively quickly and everything was delicious. Huge portions so definitely come hungry.

As someone who moved to Castro Valley from Hayward, I can honestly say that the choices for Mexican food isn't as plentiful. Im kinda particular about Mexican food because not many places has the more exotic meats choices like cabeza, lengua, and my favorite tripa. So as I was settling in to Castro Valley, I was very happy to have found Tacos El Campo. I have been here about 10 times in the 7 or so months I have been living here and have enjoyed every meal I ever had. The family that runs the place is very nice every time I come in. They do offer a discount if you pay cash to make sure you disclose that when ordering if you are paying by cash or card. The food comes out really fast, Id recommend ordering there in person instead of calling in so your food can be hotter. A MUST try is their vampiros, which I have never seen on a menu before coming here. It is basically a marriage between a taco and a grilled cheese sandwich. I have been to a lot of taquerias and not many places have these on the menu so I cant stress enough that you should give these a try. If I was younger, I could easily put away 5 of these and a big bottle of Mexican coke. If I tried that now, Id be asleep for the rest of the day and probably gain 5 pounds but if you dont care, go for it, it's a good way to put yourself to sleep. I have tried their burritos and tacos and they are solid, I usually get tripa or cabeza. Their tacos some with a side of grilled peppers and onions. There is also a good sized salsa bar as well. While I do miss Hayward, Tacos El Campa has made adjusting to life in Castro Valley much easier. This is my go-to spot for Mexican food and gets my vote for best Mexican spot in Castro Valley.

*** 3 - 3.5 stars for the tacos *** Tacos El Compa is located on Castro Valley Blvd...spot has housed various businesses from the original (structure) Taco Bell, Korean food, Vons Chicken and now Tacos El Compa. I've only had the al pastor and fish tacos...unfortunately, wasn't a fan of chopped tilapia but the pork had a slight sweetness which I liked. Pretty standard and nothing wow but what I like is their salsa bar! Plus a STAR! Variety of items like pico de gallo, hot/spicy sauce, salsa verde, orange sauce and Mexican pickled vegetables (escabeche). Friend really liked the pork chili verde plate and said it flavorful . Plenty of items on the menu and will try their burrito, breakfast, nachos or a combination plate and agua fresca next time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is clean with tables for dine in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service straightforward and wouldn't say it was welcoming (as noted in other reviews) when I visited. Small discount (credit card fee) offered when paying in cash. Private lot parking so you don't have to find a spot on the busy Boulevard. Drive thru available for call in orders/pickup

Last 2 times I've been they get my order wrong..first time I was here I got tacos de asada but they put cheese on. I went back to get new ones and the girl said if I want new ones? Um yeah! She made it seem like these have cheese they're more expensive. Ok I don't eat cheese. I dont care about their price. Today I went back for a torta and said no cheese. Drive home excited to eat my torta no cheese. And guess what! All they put was meat and cheese! Never going back!

Unfortunately, my last experience here was not good. We weren't greeted. Placed our order. Nachos with meat and two drinks. We had plenty of choices to sit as there weren't many diners. There's only one restroom, and that seemed like the busiest place here. The salsa bar was clean and had options. This is where I munched a snack with my expensive soda. I get that overhead expenses are deep- businesses also need to realize that our pockets are not.

I've been wanting a authentic Mexican restaurant in Castro valley and this is definitely it. This is hands down the best Mexican restaurant in all of Castro valley if you looking to try great food come here. I also love how the have the self serve chips, and salsa stand and the self serve jamaica

Wonderful first time experience. Hector took my order helped me out with many delicious recommendations for my first dinner take out. The salsa bar and the aguas frescas were just a beautiful rare scene to see for me. Enjoy the refills from both areas. This is definitely a must drop by little family owned shop. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Super clean and the customer service was just warm and family oriented.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Come drop by enjoy. Don't forget to try the flan dessert! Enjoy! Thank you again Don Hector!

Solid taco spot! Came here on a Friday night with my boyfriend. Love that they have their own parking lot. I ordered a two taco small plate and my bf ordered 4 tacos. Service was super quick. Also love that they have a self serve salsa bar (my fav was the orange and mild salsa). And their agua fresca comes with unlimited refills, yum! Will definitely be back!

I'm giving this place four stars, though three and a half might feel more accurate--but I'm rounding up because of the consistent experience I've had here. I've been about four times, and every visit has been pleasant. The staff is generally friendly, the place is clean (a big plus for me), and the food has always been solid. One feature I love is the salsa bar, which offers fresh pico de gallo. On my last visit, I ordered the three enchilada plate, and I had no complaints--it hit the spot. My wife had the carne asada burrito, and while she thought the meat could've used a bit more flavor, it didn't ruin the experience. Parking is convenient, which is another win, and the overall cleanliness and reliability of the food make this one of my go-to spots.

Quesadilla felt like a worse burrito. Not bad, but disappointing. It was wrapped in tin foil and was not cut at all, like a burrito. There was also like no cheese, or at least I could barely see em. I ordered grilled chicken which tasted juicy and fresh. But despite that, still lacked flavor. One side of it was full of vegg and sauce while other was mostly chicken, which is pretty normal for a burrito. Luckily lots of sauce at the sauce bar which helped a lot. The green sauce my fav. One side of the quesadilla was also slightly burnt, like I could smell it before I even saw it. Also idk why they gave u knife and fork when it was a much better experience to just bite it like a burrito. Its like a burrito without the rice, less flavorful than a burrito. Extra Sauces, pico de gaillo was more spicy than expected. Green sauce my fav. Chips and salsa be free and self serve They give u number and will bring the food to you You pay before you eat [[HIGHLIGHT]]Idk why theres hand sanitizer on every table[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is a busy place, always at least 3 parties in the building at a time, still lots of tables and chairs tho, on a tuesday 12:33pm[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]In terms of flavor, its fine, quantity is still as good as other mexican foods (one quesadilla basically 3 meals for me lol), love the free salsa bar, nice interior, clearly many people like it from how much customers I saw so[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 4/5

Amazing food and service ! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Every time I come in the food is always fresh, place is always clean![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Love their tacos and horchata !!! Commentary Chips and salsa bar sooooo good

My wifes chicken taco had plenty of chicken and she said it was ok. The chile relleno was thickly battered and a bit bland. My Molcajetes had beef, chicken, chorizo and shrimp. The only thing edible was the shrimp. The chorizo was hard and dry. The beef was literally like chewing on leather. Over cooked and dry as sawdust, I had quite a time just cutting it into bite sized pieces. Unedible! The chicken was not much better. The server asked if everything was ok. I calmly told him no and what the issue was. I said I will pay for it but you can throw it away. He offered something that I couldn't understand what he said and I said to get rid of it, I don't want it. Didn't offer to reduce or remove the cost. I usually roll with it when things aren't great but this needed to be addressed. As expensive as things are restaurants can't rest on their laurels. You had better be on your "A" game or you will be out of buisness. I literally do not want mexican food in my future for some time based on our experience at this restaurant. -5 stars.

From the moment we arrived, everything was excellent. The food was fantastic, the ambience was beautiful, the drinks were spot on, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Everything was plated beautifully and served quickly without feeling rushed. We also had the pleasure of meeting Miriam, the restaurant manager, who went above and beyond to take care of us. Her warm hospitality really made our evening special and turned a great dinner into a wonderful overall experience.
