Tacos being prepared, al pastor and chicken and carne asada in the photo
    Leo H.

I've been coming to this dependable, tasty, consistent stand for years. They're low key, friendly, and still have $2 tacos as of early 2024. They have the al pastor and pineapple on a rotating spit like many stands do, but also have a large metal pan to reverse braise many of their offerings such as suadero and carne asada. Can't go wrong with any of their meats, and their homemade aguas frescas are pretty good accompaniments as well. Also much appreciated by me, their mild green salsa is creamy and goes well with everything and is perfect for anyone like me who needs a salsa that isn't spicy.

Some of the best tacos I've had this side of town! Been coming here since I moved to LA a couple months ago and have not been disappointed. The line moves quick and the service is always friendly! The tacos are to die for the the meats are all cooked fresh right in front of you. There are some other taco stands around town that I've seen with massive lines but this stand doesn't have that. Idk why, whether it be they aren't as known or they just move that quick who knows but people need to give this place a try! Must haves while in West LA.

Carne asada burritos with rice beans and cilantro - yuck.

This is the first time I've ever hit up one of these new bootleg taco stands so pardon me if I don't know the standard protocol. So when I asked them a couple of questions, I was taken aback at how rude they were when they answered. 1) I didn't know what mulitas were... I saw them making it and I asked what they were. 2) I didn't know what went inside their burritos. My bad! Wtf. Geez. Mulitas are pretty much mini quesadillas with meat on little corn tortillas. And they have you put your choice of toppings in the burrito and you give it back and they wrap it for you. There. Just in case anyone else had these questions. Also, as we were paying... we handed her a $20 and were waiting for our change and she was like "oh... you wanted that...?" Uh... yeah. Don't assume we were gonna tip you that after all the rudeness. We took everything home... The mulitas (sp?) were really good. We had the pastor ones with bits of pineapple. Really tasty. However their carne asada burritos were so smoky... like the meat tasted like it was cooked right on top of charcoal - like touching it. I couldn't eat it. I was also biting into a bunch of fat. My bf didn't mind it and ate mine for lunch the next day. Anyway... that's all. Wouldn't come back again.

Omg, from far away, it smelled like In-N-Out when they're cooking up some grilled onions, yum!!! Then you get near and it smells of awesome pastor?!!! Oh yes! That and the smells from the street, fantastic, definitely reminds you that you are waiting on the street for some tacos! The line here tonight, Friday the 13th of October, is pretty decent. About twenty people waiting, must be good! My mouth is salivating although I just ate a ramen bowl in the Mitsuwa market's Hakkaido ramen restaurant. I ordered 6 tacos, one of each meat type: Asada, Pastor (so delicious!), Lengua, Cabeza, Carnitas, Pollo. The Pastor was so delicious that I even bought a burrito for the next morning.

    Long line but moved quickly

Yummy, delicious, authentic, and reasonably priced tacos and burritos! Highly recommend! I've gone enough times that the owner recognizes me and knows my usual order! I typically get 4 tacos: 2 lengua, 1 cabeza and 1 el pastor. I love their cactus too! Their yummy tacos have gone up slightly to $1.25 each - still a great price and they are generous with the portion. Their burritos are massive and only $6! If you're super famished, the burrito is the way to go. Tidbit: They are off during the Holidays (good for them!) and it's cash only. There's an ATM machine inside of Mitsuwa.

    2 asada, 2 Al pastor ($1.25 each!)

After hearing the buzz for way too long, I finally made my way over -- and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The menu is a carnivore's dream. We're talking carne asada, lengua, brisket, and a whole roster of meats that had me doing multiple laps before I could even commit to an order. Every bite was bold, juicy, and packed with that authentic flavor that's impossible to fake. And the prices? Completely reasonable. No sticker shock here -- just good tacos at a fair price, which is honestly rare these days. But here's the kicker: they're open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Midnight taco craving? Covered. Post-concert hunger? Handled. Living in Hawaii, I'm constantly reminded that late-night taco options are tragically limited back home -- and Avenue 26 is the standard I didn't know I needed to set. Will I be back? Absolutely, without question, 100% yes.

I was able to snag two tacos for $4.50 that tided me over until dinner time. Now: bring your car because there's no place to sit! I arrived on foot, so dined standing up. Quite a variety of means - I'm a "safe" eater and enjoyed pollo and asada. I loved the self-serve salsas; the green salsa was delish and had a good little kick to it. Happy to have found this spot, and want to come back! 2026: 32/100

For for first timers, I'd recommend ordering the Villa's Trio which is what I got. Those come with the Ranchera Asada quesotaco as well as the Papas con Chorizo and Black Bean con Pollo quesotacos which are a trio exclusive. All the tacos were meaty, flavorful, and crispy. You honestly don't even need the side sauces since the tacos are already flavorful on their own. Great quality. I also got the Watermelon Agua Fresca which was refreshing, tasty, and sweet. Goes well with the tacos. I also got the Jamaica Agua Fresca, but that one was a bit too tart for my liking. The line can get long, so I would prepare to wait for up to an hour on weekends. There's ample free parking at the grocery store lot nearby. For seating and tables, it's limited and competitive. You just have to get lucky if a spot clears up as soon as you get your food. I also like how the restaurant handles crowd control. They allow a couple of people at a time to go inside, order, and get their condiments. You wait outside until they call you for your food. I like that it didn't feel crowded while I was getting my condiments. I highly recommend this spot and I will definitely be coming back.

Having been to so many taco stands, I think what makes Tire Shop Taqueria really stand out are the right-off-the-grill charcoal-grilled meats, the freshly made tortillas literally in front of you as you are waiting on line, and the free guacamole that comes with each taco. The ordering process is like any other taco stand, though one difference is here the salsas/guacamole are all handled by the staff. If you'd like more of something, just ask them instead of reaching for the ladle yourself. There is a separate area though for grilled onions/peppers and radishes you can serve yourself. I got the asada, chorizo, cabeza, and al pastor, and they were all so good. The asada and chorizo are specifically grilled over charcoal, and that flavor really shines through. I loved how meaty and tender the cabeza was too, and the classic al pastor hit the spot. They have large communal tables setup, so it is a great friendly vibe to enjoy your meal I will say, the surrounding area is not the best in LA, especially given how the taco stand is only open at night. The parking lot is quite small, so I parked on a side street that had some abandoned cars, but of course, if you are in/from LA, this is not that new for us. I would hesitate if I am a tourist though to make it out here. Anyhow, the food really is worth it here, and I can't wait to be back!

We only got the carne asada and the al pastor but it was so good we went back in line for seconds. The meat was very flavorful - the carne asada was thin but still very tender. The al pastor, I think uses a fattier cut than some other places but keeps it from drying out. The tacos were leaking meat juices still. The surrounding streets are quite dark at night but the parking lot the stand is in, is well lit and there is a covered seating area. We went on Thanksgiving weekend and there were maybe always 15-20 ppl in line at any given time. I imagine there are longer lines in the summer.

My absolute favorite was the sea urchin, it comes in its shell, cut in half so it feels like two small portions, and the combination of fish, uni, and the light sauce was amazing. The kanpachi & uni tostada was another standout (clearly a must if you love uni). Overall, such a great experience. Amazing fresh seafood, efficient service, and every staff member we interacted with was incredibly friendly. Definitely worth the visit.

We've been to the downtown location before and the menu was a little different from what I remember. Hard to find parking sometimes. Only counter seating inside with about six tables outside. Wanted to snack on chips while we waited and there are only two sizes: small which is a bag you would put a sandwich and chips in like when you were a kid taking lunch to school, and a large which was a big bag that you would buy like a part size Doritos with the labels and all. Note to the non-spicy fam: the green salsa is mild with a little heat but the red is definitely spicy so watch out. They don't have pico de gallo. We had an asada burrito which was surprisingly packed and even had guacamole in it. Appropriately sized for lunch so not some monstrosity but it's good and flavorful. We also got an asada quesadilla. It's ok but the cheese is just melted and everything was kind of "wet" still and hard to eat because it just falls apart. Also had an asada taco.
