Meh. I wasn't impressed with this place! I had such high hopes based on the Yelp reviews but Tacoria just didn't do it for me. The line was out the door when I got there, so I just knew I was in for a treat! WRONG. The ambience was great but the food was SO boring!! The girl at the register was friendly which was pleasant. My family and I decided to try a few things from the menu and here's my 2 cents: The burrito bowl has the potential to be 4 stars but unfortunately it's about a 2.5. They gave me about 5 penny size pieces of chicken which was disappointing. The salad was ok. I would also give it 2.5 stars because it was quite boring. Again, there was barely any chicken. The house pineapple lime dressing was a total miss. It was full of oil and had little to no flavor. Nachos- The tortillas are really thick and sort of hard but they were edible. Some of them were even burnt but that's forgivable. The toppings were scarce which is unfortunate. I could've saved money and just ordered guacamole & chips with sour cream since that was all I really had. Again, the chicken was missing in action! And everything else that was supposed to be on the nachos! The guacamole was just ok. No wow factor at all! Everything I had was forgettable except the Nutella nachos. A place that seems to have great potential and extremely a good business flow of customers, had me waiting over 30-minutes for an order of two tacos that they forgot, yet, they gave me a buzzer and had me wait for nothing. The younger staff did not seem to not have control over their dinner rush, and when I politely asked the pickup station staff if they had my order and they said "we're working on it" yet 30-minutes later I'm hungry, diabetic and needed to eat something. Avoid eating here durning the dinner rush. Thank you to the younger person on staff who at least apologized but didn't offer me a refund because he couldn't find my order yet he took my cash, had me pay, and give me a buzzer. They opened yesterday and I'm back again. I'm a taco lover so I couldn't wait for this place to open up. Considering they've been teasing us Montclarions for a few months with their signage, it was totally worth the wait. I had the pastor and carne asada burrito boxes. Think of them as rectangular aluminum foil boxes (like the ones you get from a deli) full of all of the burrito essentials (yellow rice, pico, cheese, sour cream). Also tried the golden avocado (breaded and friend avocado with aioli sauce) The decor here is pretty sweet. It's a blend or rustic and street art. They have beautiful large, round chandeliers that brighten up the place but they also have a neon bright sign. A wall of of books adorns the back of the place (a mural of books depicts what looks like a chola/skeleton woman). Bonus: Pour it yourself sauce bar. They range from mild to spicy. Have been here several times love the tacos. I usually get chicken. I also got the burrito. Forgive the comparison to chipotle which I enjoy (food not service or cleanliness). Chipotle puts more of the ingredients inside: salsa, sour cream, corn etc. i prefer them inside. I love Tacoria tacos very flavorful. More so than burritos. Very clean, very efficient. Came here after work with my boyfriend and was happy with the tacos we ordered. Al pastor was very good, the pollo tinga was strangely watery but somehow also dry- probably wouldnt get it again. One thing i would change though is they didnt separate our taco orders. I ordered three tacos and my boyfriend ordered three tacos, but they mixed and matched the tacos in two plates so we didnt know which was which. As a hot sauce enthusiast I was very happy with their wide variety of hot sauces. The ambience is very hipster vibey with industrial chairs, neon signs and a cool mural on the wall of books. Wow, finally a good taco spot near me that I'm happy to go to!! My friend and I came here on our usual hunt for some decent tacos, the place is located on a Main Street in Montclair so it might be difficult to find parking during busy hours. The place has this modern hipster look with some good music playing in the back. The menu is simple but just enough to satisfy anyone's needs. I decided to try out 4 tacos Carne asada Pollo tinga Brussels sprouts (vegan) And can't remember the last one All the tacos were good, but i was AMAZED by the vegan Brussels sprouts. I am not a vegetarian but i can honestly say that it was the best taco out of the 4. It was so good that i decided to get another one for a total of 5 tacos. Cool new spot in Montclair. The decor is awesome, cool murals and funny signs throughout. You go up to the counter to order and wait on the other side for your food. I had such high hopes when reading the menu but the food was a bit disappointing. They have tons of options for your tacos- beef, chicken, pork, corn, Brussels, avocado and more. You can pick the spicy or sweet option. I picked the sweet ( pineapple) but everything still had bit of a kick. Beware the Mexican Street corn was wayyy spicy! Actual rating would be a 3.5! Surprisingly, I did not get any tacos here but instead I got a quesadilla which was DELICIOUS! The quesadilla was insanely filled with lots of chicken and cheese. It felt heavy, not like your usual skinny, skimpy quesadillas. My friend got the burrito which she enjoyed and again this burrito felt like holding a tiny baby. Super filled and stuffed with rice, beans, and chicken. The inside is also extremely spacious and beautifully decorated. We ordered our food as a pickup but we really wish we stayed inside to eat. Wow, a burrito without the tortilla, what a novel idea. Ordered two Burrito Boxes and had them delivered with Uber Eats. I had the Carne Asada, grilled steak with rice, black beans, cheese, salsa, pico de gallo and crema, served in a nice container. Very delicious, steak was tender and flavorful, and I almost got a piece of steak in every bite. My wife had the Pollo Asada, a citrus kissed, grilled chicken with the same combo of ingredients. The whole mixture worked very well on both and really enjoyed eating it without the tortilla involved. We also each had the Mexican Street Corn, corn on the cob, chipotle aioli, cotija cheese and cilantro. This was also very delicious. This was our first experience with Tacoria and overall we were very happy with everything. The food was excellent, came promptly and was well packaged. A worthwhile alternative to Chipotle. Been here twice and had good experiences overall. Burrito bowl- tried the chicken and pineapple pork. Portions are comparable if not slightly less than your typical chipotle bowl. Toppings/sauces are already included. Friend got the spicy chicken and claimed it was decently spicy, so beware. Street corn- tasted like your typical corn with some sriracha mayo added. Didn't really taste the grilled flavor, but the corn was decently charred. I think checking in gets you one for free so I would snag it. Service- was pretty quick and electronic buzzers given to notify once orders are ready. Today, I ordered the Mission Style Burrito with the Golden Avocado. Tacoria is one of the restaurants that has perfected their vegan proteins and it tastes super delicious. The Golden Avocado is a fried Avocado laid insider the Mission Style Burrito and provides that burst of flavors as you get near the center. The burrito comes with rice, black beans, salsa, and cheese. With the addition of the Golden Avocado, the burrito comes with a vegan chipotle aioli that is spicy, tangy, and thick. Mom had a day off so we ended up grabbing lunch together. She told me to find a place so I was like okay. I had Tacoria in New Brunswick so I decided to try this place out. Inside is pretty casual, nice vibrant colorful interior with artwork and light fixtures and great seating. They have an upstairs area with more tables and books. The cashier was really knowledgeable, they have "veganized" meals. They offer tacos, nachos, burritos, burrito bowls, ensaladas, quesadillas, and nutella nachos (woah). Then you can choose a various proteins and then they offer guac, chips and guac and Mexican Street Corn (woah). I ended up ordering 3 hand crafted tacos, one rajas, one golden avocado and one Brussels sprouts, my mom ordered the golden avocado burrito. 3 tacos are $8.75 and one burrito is $8.5. I really like the golden avocado and their aioli sauce that comes with it. I really enjoy the spice from the rajas with the poblano peppers. I also really dig the sauces they have in the front. Their spiciest isn't that hot (imho, I love spicy food) but it was hella flavorful. I put it on both the tacos and I tried some of the burrito it was goooood. The ambiance was really nice, had lots of seating. I'm gonna be honest though, if you're really hungry, 3 tacos won't cut it, I was still hungry after that, I suggest going for a burrito. Pretty solid taco place. I have tried the carne asada taco and steak was well cooked and seasoned. The only critique I have is probably it needs a bit more contrast with some greens or crunch. They put a garnish of radish and I wish there was more to complement the dish. I claimed my free brussel sprouts taco when I checked in on Yelp and I was very pleased with it. They literally stole money from me, denied it, and had an attitude about it. I have been going here for years, but will never order delivery again. Called about the missing items, lady blamed it on DoorDash when I told her I didn't want the items and would rather just have them come back and take the food back. Omg, the food here was delicious. The chips were fresh, and super crunchy, but the many toppings enhanced the nachos supremely. I absolutely love, love, loved this place! The food was excellent as was the customer service! The lines out the door, speak for themselves. There were 4 of us and we came with an appetite so we ended up ordering plenty of food, but I assure you, it was worth the money and NONE of it went to waste. I love that they have such a wide variety of options and the flavor for everything we ordered was so on point. I think the burrito is my favorite, so much filling inside causing the burrito itself to be filling. So worth every dollar! Please keep in mind that it does get VERY crowded. There is a decent amount of seating but when it gets crowded, good luck. Try to order ahead online for pick up because I'm telling, when the weather is nice, weeknight or weekend doesn't make a different because that line is out the door. Aside from the crowd, another hassle is parking. It's all street parking and it's a very busy area so parking is a challenge but that doesn't deter me. My boyfriend and I have been here a few times and have tried just about everything (except the beef because that's not in out diet) and we have never been disappointed. One thing you MUST GET if you come here are the Nutella Nachos for dessert. I promise you won't be disappointed. The best part is that if you can't finish it or don't want to share it, put it in the fridge and save it for later. I have done this numerous times. It doesn't get stale, still, or old. Came here before a show at the wellmont theater (1 block away). Def recommend if you're looking for something quick, tasty and convenient. You order at the counter and then are handed a buzzer hat goes off when your food is ready. We tried the guac, corn (elote), tacos and steak burrito bowl. The guac was really flavorful, and the chips it's came with were delicious! The corn was a bit underwhelming, really was like a squirt of spicy mayo and sprinkle of cheese. Could've used more of both, skip this. For my tacos I did 1 steak, 1 chicken and 1 chorizo. The chorizo was my least fave. I thoroughly enjoyed the hot sauce bar. They have 3 or 4 different house made sauces/ salsas, and then like every bottled hot sauce you could imagine at your disposal to flavor things. I've been to the NB location many times, and it's much more convenient than Montclair, but this location is SOO much bigger! When you have space to stand/order and space to eat, it automatically makes things 100x better! With that being said, the taste of the food is still genuine and the same as their other location. Wanted to verify all the hyped reviews myself - so I ordered takeout for three on a Seamless pickup. It's like $5/taco here - an al pastor quesadilla is close to $15 with a scoop of guac (extra). What can I say, these are the prices nowadays so I can't really be mad. The food is freshly made, tasty and of good quality; they don't cut corners there. I do have a slight beef with the side I ordered of mexican street corn for $5.50. This was a mini-ear of corn, almost half the size what you would expect. Yes it was nice and roasted- they aren't afraid to put a little fire on anything you order, so expect slight charring on things. But the watered-down thousand-island like dressing drizzled on it barely added excitement nor the sprinkled cojita. I guess this wasn't the slam dunk I was aiming for. My dad's 3 carnitas tacos looked good to me but he said they were a little dry, even though they had cream and guac in them. My mom ordered an Al Pastor quesedilla with guac and she liked it, the pineapple gives it a sweet kiss, but it wasn't really that big, maybe the size of an envelope. I ordered the vegggie quesadilla and added chorizo and guac so I had a lot of flavors going on and my mouth was happy. This one was loaded up. Don't forget to add their salsa verde - it has appropriate kick and super fresh. Pickup was efficient, counter svc. was adequately run by teens, makes you feel old.
