My friend just moved to Pawtucket and I wanted him to taste some of my favorite restaurants nearby,…read morestarting with Tuxpan. It was a Saturday evening and when we arrived, it was pretty empty, but after 30 minutes, all the tables outside were filled. They have done a good job of decorating their outdoor space since the last time I was there and it also appears they've expanded their parking lot by a couple spaces which was very helpful on days like this (but street parking is also available). We ordered two birria tacos, one tripe taco, one chicken taco, and a chicken burrito. It did take a while for the food to come out, but the flavors made us forget about the painful wait. My least favorite was the birria tacos. They were different from other birria tacos I've had in that the meat had a red seasoning instead of being brown. It was oily, so nothing out of the ordinary in that regard. But it wasn't grilled flat which was a little bit of a bummer since it meant the cheese wasn't grilled to a crisp on the edges. The tripe taco was unique in that the tripe was baked or fried; crispy and light. The filling in the chicken burrito - rice, beans, chicken - were lighter in color than what I was expecting, but that did not take away from how good it was, albeit a tad salty. The beans were refried rather than whole which I personally liked since it had it easier to chew. Besides the long wait, we enjoyed all the food and the chill ambiance.

The staff is super friendly, however they are reduced to only serving the food not taking the order. It is not a big deal to me, however I can see it being an issue for others. The food was as good as ever, again another "however", there seems to be small er portions and the pizza has gone away (the old oven isn't working to par) and the street corn is demoted to kernels in a very small dish drowning in the condiments. Note the 3 tortilla chips...not sure what that is about. I could have sworn the burritos came with some sauce on the side, but not sure. I will keep going, the small changes are not a game changer for me and I will continue to recommend them if your looking for good food!

It has become my favorite menu; it is unique from quesadillas at almost any place since they stuff a big handmade corn tortilla (instead of flour) with cheese and well-seasoned meat. The tortilla is soft, warm, and crispy, and the cheese is well melted. The only thing I wish it did have were some toppings on the side like sour cream, lettuce, pico, etc. since it is very plain. They usually ask if you'd like sauce on the side; I ask for both the red (smokey chipotle flavor) and green (fresh but spicy). I believe it's about $10 which is fair for the size and quality. I called to place my order and they told me it would be about a 25 minute wait. I've tired other items and it's always been good. For example, tacos are very affordable, tasty, and bring a good amount of meat. They do offer dine in with their dining area having about 6-8 big booths. It is in a plaza so there is lots of parking available.

However, instead of getting tacos, we ordered our meal off the appetizer menu including shrimp ceviche rojo, tamarind-chile wings, and carne asada fries. Everything looked magnificent and portion sizes are great, especially considering that they're appetizers. The shrimp ceviche was delicious and well plated. I am not sure if the green stuff was olive oil but it helped keep the ceviche together. The Valentina provided the right amount of spice level. The tomato, cucumber, and avocado were very fresh. The tamarind chile wings were good, though I was disappointed the skin wasn't crispy and that it lacked a strong contrast between sweet / sour (tamarind) and spicy. I think they were more spicy and a tiny bit sour. The carne asada fries are a must whenever I go. All the ingredients work together so well. I am not sure if it's a new series, but the taco of the month for October is Taco Suadero which is supposed to be the belly of the cow but they use beef brisket. I tried one during another visit a couple days later and they were flavorful and the meat was very tender as promised. The staff is always great and they have seating indoors (bar, by the bar at high tables, or regular tables in a larger dining area) and outdoors. They have cool decorations inside. There is usually never a wait time since they do a good job of getting food out. They have TVs and will play sports.

I ordered takeout the other weekend and while I waited, there was a live singer/danger performing, so that was fun to watch. I ordered the Vegan Chorizo Burrito Bowl, and the portion was generous - I could barely finish, and I think I saved some for later. The lettuce was crispy and fresh, and the house made vegan chorizo from chickpeas is a fun slightly mealy texture that I crave. I've also had a similar dish in Tostada form, which was crunchy and a little difficult to eat, but fresh and absolutely delicious. It's so exciting as a vegetarian to have multiple protein options at a Mexican restaurant, other than just the classic beans. Parking can be a little bit of a challenge at times - this place always seems busy! They have a small lot you can park in, or I was able to pretty easily find street parking mere feet away from the restaurant. Some people look like they park at the Dunkin Donuts next door at night when Dunkin is closed, too, especially if running in quickly for a pick up order. The dining area is a little small, but there is a special bar area off to the side, and they sometimes have liquor vendors set up during special events giving samples or teaching about their product. I feel such a burst of warmth and sense of being welcomed every time I come here, and can't wait to keep working my way down the vegan menu - THANK YOU for catering to those with dietary restrictions and creating a whole section for us, not just having one dish available and calling it a day. This place is small and does fill up but seems like most do take out. Parking is a bit tight and limited to street parking, but on a rainy day, there was plenty available. Staff was very friendly and attentive to getting us drinks, more tacos, and checking in on us~ my family speaks Spanish, and staff are fluent and native speakers of Spanish. Central fall caters to a mostly Hispanic population, so it's very welcoming. My partner speaks english, and with his limited Spanish, he ordered with no issue and the staff understood him well. My burrito was customized to my preference which had the cheese, rice, avocado, and no crema. Sounds very restrictive if that's just how my diet is, and I'm so glad they complied and gave me a delicious burrito! The meat was savory and tasty and the table had a container with three different sauces. The hottest was the dark red, and it was super good! I actually finished the whole meal and didn't feel too heavy. It was satisfying. The tacos were tasty, messy, but good. My partner ordered two more and he was too focused on his food to take a picture. For drinks, I got a seasonal drink called Atole Chanpurrado, which is made from corn flour, corn starch, and milk along with cinnamon. There are many versions, but this restaurant had the traditional one. It was super tasty and warm, very enjoyable on a cold rainy day. It was very homey!
