Iron workers cabin, 3W. Positives: quick and easy checkin, super nice people working at the front desk. Cabin area was very quiet with plenty of separation. Cabin was cool inside, with out AC, which was great for our hot visit. Lots of peace inside to hang out, cook and rest. Kitchen had stove with oven, fridge/freezer, sink. The highlight was how close to the brook it was. You could hear the water flowing and see it. Hiking and biking were excellent. Very easy with a 6 year old and very rewarding at the falls, highly recommended! Depot deli was super close and had all the essentials. Negatives: cabins were dated, loads of cobwebs inside. Wished they had some basic essentials like pans to cook with. Beds were stiff, felt like a spring would get me every night. Wasps flying around the cabin, had a nest, but didn't bother us. Couldn't access the brook, or we didn't attempt to Bush wack. Fishing was a slight let down as we didn't catch anything, but that could of been our lack of skill.

Friendly staff, easy to locate. Iron works cabins were rustic but the amenities we're fantastic, great water pressure and abundant hot water. Fire pit and bbq grills located right next to cabin. Bash bish falls we're a quick 1 mile hike away. Just keep in mind that there are no supermarkets near by so bring any provisions that you'll need. Minus 1 star for the lack of fishing areas. There's only a small 9 x 9 floating Pier to from it was usually occupied and jam packed.

Nice spot. 1) Came here to hike the Bash Bish Falls and Bash Bish Mountain. 2) There was plenty of parking. 3) The bathroom was great. They even had a water fountain to fill up my water canteens.

Great place to camp with the family. Not too strict with the noise level but I'm ok with that.....btw it wasn't us that set up camp at 4am.

People, people everywhere at Copake Falls-Taconic State park Campgrounds, NY

This was definitely the loudest, most crowded campsite I have stayed at. My boyfriend and I met up with friends who had booked a spot here. There was no enforcement of quiet hours and there was a large group of people right in front of our site who were playing beer pong and blasting music loudly until early morning hours when it started to storm and they were forced into their tents by the pouring rain. The falls are nice, but there are people everywhere here, making it hard to feel close to nature. There are railings and a stone stairway leading down to the waterfall. I wasn't able to get close to the falls because there were many, many people crowding the rocks. On the hike to and from the falls, there were also people everywhere, so there was no chance of seeing any animals or hearing nature. Camping is fun, but I like it to be more rustic than this. This location would be a good choice for college aged kids with a mindset to party in the woods, though it's a little misleading because one of the first things you see upon entering is a lake full of small children and their parents swimming and a playground. I found this to be a very sanitized camping experience. There were park rangers and security everywhere during the day, including at the top of the falls monitoring everything. But, I wish they had been as vigilant about the noise levels at night and the things campers were doing away from the falls. Our friends witnessed people cut down a tree next to our site. The bathrooms were pretty standard for a campsite. The showers were very clean and somehow bug-less. During my stay, there was no hot water, but this wasn't a big deal to me. On a sidenote, there were absolutely no mosquitoes, which I found very odd. I get eaten alive on the way to the convenience store here in Queens. I wonder if they spray for them.

I am glad I did some research before booking. Some sites are very small and close together. The platform site are very close together, but loop B's are pretty good. We arrived on a Monday and saw them patrolling at least 3 times that night, but less on Tuesday. Not very crowded, but it could have been b/c of our stay on a weekday and early in the summer season.

    The waterfall you can't miss!

The hike to Bash Bish falls on Sunday was leisurely, simple (no elevation gain to speak of), and extremely picturesque.

I took this journey at the start of February, and there was tons of snow on the ground. On the first day, I arrived at the Massachusetts parking lot around 3 PM I figured I had a good two hours before sundown. I turned back after walking a short way down the trail because it was so steep, I thought I was going to tumble into the river. When I got back, I watched a video of someone hiking on the Massachusetts side, and I realized that the trail is normally full of stairs This makes sense because it's very steep and that's why it's so short but because of the snow, the stairs are covered up I would definitely not recommend using the Massachusetts side in the winter On the second day, I got to the New York parking lot around 2 PM. I made it about halfway down the much more gradual and scenic trail before I turned back. I turned back because the sun disappeared behind the mountain, and it was dark and windy On the third day, I got to the New York side at 11 AM. This time I realized that the top of the trail is just always dark and windy because it's in a corridor between two mountain peaks. So I pressed on. It took me about one hour to get to the end of the trail. I walked pretty slowly and stopped to look at nature a lot. If you are not someone who is super confident staying on the path in the forest, these are fairly easy trails because it's just a straight line the whole way there and you are following the river the whole time. I'm so glad I didn't give up because the falls are one of the most beautiful magical things I've ever seen Instead of water flowing down through the ice, it was snow and slush bursting through the sections of the frozen waterfall the water exploding into 1 million tiny snowflakes from the top to the bottom I plan to come back here in the summer with my kids and I think they will really love it.

Looks like the MA lot -- you go down a steep, shorter hill to reach the falls. Along the way you'll pass by a stream and an array of Fall leaves. When you reach the falls, there were many people who climbed the little railing and took the rocky steps down to the falls. It's worth it -- as it's beautiful and a great picture spot. Dog friendly too!

The measures taken for Covid Compliance were impeccable. All staff practiced social distancing and wore appropriate PPE's which made the guests feel safe, relaxed and confident in the team working hard for our safety and theirs. The restroom facilities were great! They were very clean and the showers had a strong flow of hot water. The trash receptacles were never over full confirming that the staff were monitoring the facilities regularly for cleanliness. As an added bonus, there are numerous water stations throughout the camping area making it quick and easy to refill water jugs to bring back to the campsites. The lake is not very big, but offers kayaking, canoeing, fishing and swimming in a contained area. The beach had clean sand and multiple trash receptacles. If you plan to swim, we recommend wearing water shoes when you go in as, with any lake, the bottom can be a bit rocky and slimy. LOL Management made rounds at dusk to ensure the guests were all set for the night. His parter, a beautiful Newfoundland (I think) lies in the bed of the pickup and is so well trained and mild mannered you wouldn't even know he was there. The respect and care shown to the guests is impeccable. The only downside was the total number of kayaks available to rent if you have a larger group. Having said that, the number of kayaks and canoes combined is certainly in ratio with the size of the lake. Overall, we found the entire weekend a huge success! The team of workers were respectful, informative, accommodating and so very friendly. Their interactions with each other as well as the guests put everyone at ease and made you feel so at home and welcome. We would highly recommend this as an excellent place to visit without hesitation. We will be back!!

This park is clearly past its prime. Although from the look of things, they might be doing some renovation. The changing rooms were boarded up and the sand was infested with ground bees that the kids dodged to get to the water. Once they got in, we advised them to just keep moving because not only were the blue gill interested, they were aggressive. I am not talking about gentle dermabrasion on your legs by fish, I mean hard bites on the thighs and toes if we paused in the water for too long. I know they are usually hungry and curious but wow. It seems like plenty of people have thought it wise to throw them bread over the years and now they just assume you are the bread.

There isn't too much information (such as flora/fauna markers, historical notes, etc), but the signage that they do have is in great condition. At the trailhead just past the gate, there is a bulletin board with a trail map on it. There's only one trail as of the writing of this review: the Loop Trail which is 0.8 miles in length. It's obviously a loop, so whichever direction you choose, you will end up back at the trailhead. The trail itself is very walkable, great for a causal afternoon or evening stroll, and doable for all ages and abilities. It meanders along the river-- and there's a couple of side paths that head towards it-- but the banks are very steep. Use caution when walking off the main trail. There is very little incline over the course of the trail, and is mostly trimmed grass. It's very well kept up. When we visited, there were quite a few beautiful wildflowers in bloom. I'm sure that if you took your time, you'd get to observe some regional fauna, too. There's only one bench on the trail, which over looks the river. Aside from the mown trail, the rest of the Housatonic Flats park is mostly thick meadow with a treeline near the river. I'd advise staying on the trail to minimize nuisances such as ticks, poison ivy, and mosquitoes. There's no place to picnic or BBQ, so I'd advise saving that for another area altogether. It's a very nice path for a quick scenic walk. Enjoy it while it's still relatively unknown!
