There are even swings for toddlers! I've never seen one before. And a tire swing for the riskier kids. I saw a pool, which would be great in the summer. I totally loved this park, and will definitely come back again. We just moved from Hawaii, so this is a step up from what we are used to. I'm going to love living here!

There are ball fields and an amphitheater and a zoo and ponds and lots and lots of wooded or lawn-type space. Clean, nice people, low-key. I LOVE this park and can't wait to go back. One note - if you are meeting others in separate cars, better be really clear where you're meeting up with them because it's hard to find each other even with a park map.

"A walk in the park, there will be no bother" (Cowboy…read moreJunkies) You'll find this little patch of urban green between the Springfield Armory, TAP Sports Bar, the MGM Springfield courtyard, and the back of the Red Rose restaurant. It was renovated with MGM money when they rebuilt a chunk of downtown for their magnificent casino/hotel/shopping/movie theater complex. We visited the park yesterday on the walk back from lunch at the Red Rose. We saw a wrought iron gate that leads to a beautifully manicured spot of lighted walkways, green grass, pretty yellow and purple flowers, and a circular red stone base supporting a large abstract sculpture. The 2022 sculpture is titled "Dream Catcher" and was constructed of a painted oak tree and stainless steel rods and spheres. It's quite striking! The park is a welcome urban oasis and likely a favorite spot to sulk and self reflect after blowing a load of cash at the casino.

Blue heron right after you enter from the south terminus. Lots of turtles basking. Eagles (adult and 2 juvies) visible in their nest, with another adult high above about 50 yds north. Another uge (we don't pronounce the "h" where I'm from) blue heron about 7/10ths of a mile from the start. Ducks, geese, hawk. Haven't seen a rabbit yet this year. My theory is that overcutting on the bank of the canal-side has caused rabbits to change their habits (seriously). No place to hide from predators. Everyone friendly...strollers, fishermen, bicyclists.... I tried to make a video of the song, "I was strolling thru the park one day, in the very merry month of May...". Lucky for the reader / listener that my phone was having memory issues. Always a 5 star!

Looks like HVAC companies taking over the parking lot for work, one dude working out of his van was shirtless with full bear belly on display. I felt uncomfortable & left quickly. There's no park bench or anything like that along the river. The West entrance is the worst, smallest lot only fits 3 cars, long walking path to the river that's super narrow, some times only a foot wide & feels creepy, I'd avoid. The east entrance is very roomy, easily park 10 cars there with walking path 12 feet wide. However, it's very far to the river, at least half a mile walk. The 4th entrance is on Bayleys, I couldn't even find the parking lot, lol, nothing there.

Here in Center Hill Park, you will find a bronze statue of a Quarryman; honoring East Longmeadow's 19th century heritage as a quarrying center for red sandstone. Back in the day, there were over 50 working stone quarries in the area It's quite a statue; a serious looking guy with a floppy hat and floppy mustache is wearing bib overalls and holding a massive sledge hammer. He's standing on a big slab of red sandstone. There are more blocks of sandstone all around him. A plaque near the statue reads: THE QUARRYMAN Saluting the industry of our Founding Fathers here in the East Village who quarried red and brown sandstone from over fifty quarries during the 1800's. Their work remains enshrined in noted buildings across the land. This sculpture by Gregory Stone is a gift to the Town of East Longmeadow on the Celebration of its Centennial by L. James and Janet K. McKnight Dedicated July 3, 1994
