Stanley Park was nice! Parks are an ideal outing for little ones so we headed over here one late morning. We walked on the trails and saw a few creatures including fish, frogs, geese, ducks, squirrels, and chipmunks. Great spot to take the family. It was also well-maintained as I saw several workers around. There was a cool map on the ground and as a cartophile, I appreciated that. Seems like there's quite a bit to do here. read more

This park appears to be your basic city park - playground, ball fields, etc. But what makes it a bit unique is the historical little area complete with mill building, waterwheel, duck pond, and a COVERED BRIDGE!! This is a pedestrian only bridge. And it's a short or long walk depending on where you park. There are quite a few stairs involved so it isn't wheelchair or stroller friendly. It wasn't an historic bridge. And since it's in the middle of a park, there were tons of kids running around making it difficult to photograph. I'm sure the park is great otherwise. But since I was on a covered bridge tour, I have to rate this on the lameness of the bridge. read more

Community parks are fun, aren't they? They provide a sense of belonging within a community and bring together individuals and families in the community to have that sense of place and pride for the area. My experience here at Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts was not really that I did enjoy the well manicured landscaping though. The park itself was small, but large enough to be considered adequate for my needs. Stanley Park in Westfield, MA was the venue / staging area for Day 4 in the New England Challenge, a marathon or half marathon series of 6 marathons or half marathons in 6 consecutive states and 6 consecutive days. My experience at Stanley Park started at 6am, where we arrived about 30 minutes prior to that to secure parking, which there were plenty of. The main parking area is on or near Gillet Road. The route around and through the park measured just under 2 miles, so we'd either have to run approximately 6 laps around for the half and 12 around for the marathon. While we were doing our laps, I did see some individuals and families coming to the park to play. It was a Thursday morning and my legs seemed to not like doing this kind of stuff 4 days in a row. For the most part though, I did enjoy duck pond after those laps. It was nice to see those ducks there playing and enjoying themselves. It was a little awkward running around this park when school kids were being picked up for school. Then again, it was a Thursday morning in May 2019. The overall experience at Stanley Park in Westfield, MA was quite nice and beautiful. Every lap I did was an opportunity to see the park over and over. It was like sightseeing. I enjoyed the Japanese garden as well as the rose garden while clicking off the miles. Once it was over, I decided to walk to the rose garden and duck pond to take a detailed look around for about 30 minutes to wait for a friend to finish before it was time to go. I felt at peace here. After finishing up a long distance foot race, it was peaceful for sure. The weather was near perfect and the sun was shining. I managed a series personal best that morning and it was amazing. Stanley Park is great for families and individuals who love coming to the outdoors and don't like to be cooped up indoors. It is a fun and free place to be when television and the internet gets old real fast. For the most part though, the best thing about Stanley Park was the scenery. Quite lush and welcoming to one and all. No admission fees charged, but they do charge for use of facilities, if you were to have a special event held here like weddings and stuff. Stanley Park is located at 400 Western Avenue in the sprawling city of Westfield, MA. They have the one main parking lot, which is literally perfect. I did enjoy my time here, while brief, it was very satisfying. It was enjoyable to run laps countless times around the asphalt roads in and around the park as well on Western Avenue too. Not sure about public transportation options in the area or in the town of Westfield, MA, but best bet would be to have a private car or rent one for yourself. There's always uber or Lyft to take you here from your hotel, if you stayed nearby visiting. Stanley Park is well groomed by the good folks of Stanley Park Inc, a non profit company which helps preserve the park for the community at large. If you are in the area and want to stop by for a rest, consider coming here to Stanley Park here in Westfield, MA. There are restroom facilities on site, near the main parking area. Not sure about public wifi though. Then again, most people come to the park to get away from that. Recommended if you are around and want to see some nice views. 5.0 stars for the overall experience. Stanley Park is really the gem of Westfield. It's a pretty large park with something for everyone: tennis courts, playgrounds, soccer fields, basketball courts, ponds, hiking trails, a wildlife sanctuary, a Japanese rock garden, flower gardens... the list goes on. It's popular with wedding parties for photos - lots of great subjects for photographers of all levels and interests. It's directly across the street from Westfield State University. My only wish is that the idiots that throw entire loaves of bread into the pond at the fish and ducks would stop. I saw cheese curls today. Cheese curls? read more

I'm not sure words can justify how wonderful this park is. You can easily spend an entire day here, no problem. There is so much to do, whether its walking around and enjoying the scenic beauty of plants, flowers, ducks, swans, and so much more, to the fact that they keep the grounds immaculately clean and well pedicured; wonderful park. read more

My favorite park!! Love the wildflower gardens...slightly off the beaten path. The rock map of the US is amazing too!

I went there today, my first time at the park. A friend asked me to do some maternity photos as she is almost due. We figured the flowers would look pretty and heard about it from friends. I was approached 3 times and asked if I was a professional photographer by grounds keepers. They assumed because I had a dslr I was making a profit off of it. It's like he didn't believe me as I asked again later on. He told me if I was I needed to pay for a licence to take pictures in there park. I had already told them I wasn't but they kept harassing me. Why have a park if people can't take pictures of nature. They turned a beautiful experience to a negative one. There is a hidden gem at this park. Over by the playground there is a wildlife trail. Follow it all the way down and it wraps around about 1.5-2 miles. Trail is a nice walk in the woods and well maintained. read more

I think Stanley park is beautiful, but don't get caught taking any pictures there! My daughter was asked to take a few pictures of a friend there and was approached by the officials and told that it costs $75 A DAY to take photographs there or $250/per year. They let her finish taking pictures,asked about her car and told her they would meet her at her car and made her pay a $25 " donation" to the park. I find this disturbing. The park should find other ways to raise their money! read more

The Stanley Park Accessible Playground would be a terrific experience-except for the unfortunate state of the adjacent bathrooms! Both the women's bathroom and the handicap-accessible bathrooms have been in a deplorable state for the past year. They have not been reliably clean for months. In previous years, they were a shining example of public hygiene, but as of this review, the are not clean, have damaged surfaces, and are generally run down with an overpowering smell of mildew. Add in the pervasive smokers puffing away in front of the laxly enforced "No Smoking" signs, and you have a gauntlet that any mother of a kid with asthma would hesitate to run. It doesn't matter how good a playground is if you can't use the facilities and your kid can't take a deep breath. I buy a "Partners in Preservation" sticker to support Stanley Park every year...but the state of the park areas women and kids rely on this year has left me wondering where my money is going. read more
