This was my first time here and it seems like there is a lot more to explore in the warmer months. From my first visit I can say that it's awesome for hiking, mountain biking, and more.

Meadow in the winter

Great state park just 15 minutes away from home. PARKING/LOGISITICS: -some parking along the roadways inside the gate -IMPORTANT: gate closes at 4PM (in winter), don't have your car locked in! Park right outside the gate, across the road on a side street, or my favorite, at the school just down the road (entrance to the park from there as well). -I'm sure there's a park fee during the summer ($5?) ACTIVITIES: -great trail system; trails well marked and well travelled. Some steep hills, water hazards (such as bridges and streams), and tree hazards. Beginners proceed with caution and stick to what you feel comfortable with. -we've been in the park after 4PM (parking outside the gate), and it doesn't seem to be an issue. Obviously, I'd recommend not staying out on the trails after dark. -in the summer, the trails are spectacular for mountain biking, with some single track through the forest. Lots of pretty scenery including views of the river, a meadow, etc. -in the winter, Robinson is great for cross country skiing. We go here when we don't feel like trekking an hour away. The trails are NOT GROOMED and only lightly tracked, so be prepared for a workout, especially if you come in through the front entrance (and not over by the school). -also in the winter, we've seen several snowshoers. They use the same trails as the skiers so heads up! Breathtakingly beautiful, whether it's summer or winter. Mark this as a place to get some physical activity and fresh air in your weekend!

This is the main area to swim in! My dog just helped himself! Also, swimming is at your own risk during the week, weekends are attended to!

I've been coming here since I was a little girl. Everything about my day was perfect. Wonderful weather, clean everything, and I mean spotless. Brought my dog swimming, had a shaded spot, and even walked the fields to see if everything was attended too! Clean cut grass, no litter, just a wonderful low-Key family spot, or a cute place for a wooded date. Charcoal grills, picnic spots galore, Westfield river behind the woods, is a beautiful sound. Also, the park is loaded with trails, wild life, and all natural surroundings. Just go! You'll love it.

Your tax dollars at work! Beautiful paths around the Westfield River. Picnic benches, scenic views. What's not to like?

We walked over a wooden bridge and followed the gray trail through the woods next to the Westfield River.
