    So peaceful

A beautiful walk! We loved our walk here even on a 30 degree day. The views are breathtaking! It was very peaceful. We wished we lived in the area so we could regularly enjoy this lovely park. The 2 miles loop is perfect for a short but exhilarating walk.

It does feel like being a Poet walking in the park. This is a nice discovery I found out. The trail is 2 miles in total. Coming in from the parking lot leads to a gravel path, leading to the woods eventually out to some fields. There are some stopping points along the way to take a break and even take some pictures. The Hudson River is seen along with the Catskills, making it a decent view. Getting at mile in a half, the real trail begins with a lot of hills and steepness eventually leading close to the river. Continuing on the trail meets back at the y, completing the loop. It can be a bit challenging for people who have physical difficulties, keeping that in mind. Expect it to be crowded this time of year, especially in the spring, late summer, and fall season. It's a destination to put on the list!

Walking through this park was an unexpected treat, there was a lot more here than I imagined. It's too bad the weather was barely 3 stars today and even worst that the autumn foliage isn't up to par (at least yet) - maybe 1 star for foliage. But the park is definitely worth the visit. Some of the trails are gravel (with what looks like some flooding in the recent past). You can walk off the trails, perhaps where they've cut the grass, but beware poison ivy in the taller grass. The "houses" are more like gazebos but nice for photo opportunities and a rest on the wooden benches. The walk through the woods to the Summer House was the nicest part (best foliage today), just so quiet and peaceful apart from some upset birds letting others know you're around. There's also one or two points where you get a very nice view of the back of the neighboring mansion (Eden Knoll??). This is a popular spot for dog-walking too. It's an enjoyable place to spend a few hours on a nice day.

If you are in the area, this is a truly lovely place for a long, poetic walk. Well maintained, and super nice views of the Hudson River. The magnificent Overlook Pavilion and Summerhouse are great photo ops.

Nice and easy lollipop loop suitable for any age or physical abilities. Roughly 2 miles to do the whole park. Beautiful views of the Hudson River and lower Cats. Only complaint is the fine gravel pathway which easily winds up inside your shoes (I saw several people, including me stopping to empty out their footwear). Still very worth the stop if you're in the area. Not a "destination" hike.

Should you be lucky enough to stroll through the pathways and greenery of Poet's Walk Park, one of a few things may happen. 1) You will be inspired to write or draw a beautiful work of art. There's a reason it's called poet's walk park... a perfect getaway for clear thinking. I've done more clear thinking here than in a chic Brooklyn coffee shop or in the shower... this is the place to really get perspective on nature's beauty. 2) This is the spot to bring your person. My fiance and I held hands and walked through the park for about an hour and a half, and didn't want to leave at all. The views were so beautiful and grandiose, and the gazebo was such a nice resting spot... I almost considered proposing to her again! 3) If you don't have a person, bring your dog. It'll be his or her heaven, the highlight of their 2016. Other notes -- This place has a ton of nooks and crannies for things to explore. Plenty of hidden gems here. -- Plenty of parking -- Not many people when we went. Really super peaceful.

Picnic tables are accompanied along here and the other section on the northern side with many more. Grills are provided for a plus near the picnic tables. Boat docks are used in this park for anyone's pleasure, and there's plenty of room for it to be done right. The view of the Hudson River is an incredible closeup, seeing the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge as the highlight and also viewing the east side of northern Dutchess County. In the distance on that side, you'll get a glimpse of the train tracks of Amtrak and occasionally CSX trains passing by. We happen to see an Amtrak heading north as we were leaving. Looking even further, especially if it's a clear day, you'll see the town of Rhinecliff to the south. It's a great place to have a get-together and to take in nature at this location!

But you may want to bring your own lawn chairs if you want to sit on something other than a picnic table. There's plenty of parking space. You're right along the river, and there's a deck area where folks lounge and fish. You have quite a view of the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge. If you're there when the Rhinebeck Aerodrome is open, you'll occasionally see one of their planes fly over the river to about the same latitude as the park, which is evidently their turn-around point. You'll have some very nice views of foliage during leaf-peeping time.
