Elliott Bay Sauna & Hot Tub - Front Area

Elliott Bay Sauna & Hot Tub reminded me of two things - not everything awesome in this area pops up…read moreon every list and just because I don't know about it and no one I know knows about it doesn't mean there's not a ton of people who are in the know. My friend knows I love hot tubs. He heard about this location from another and we decided to check it out. We arrived at 10:55 AM and there already was a line. I learned that this is common, there's only ten rooms, and wait times can range from 60 minutes to 120 minutes depending on time of day. I hear the evenings are incredibly popular so much so people in line said they don't even try. The price point is ridiculously cheap. Everywhere I've seen something similar the prices are much, much more expensive. Flip side - it's a bit dated and very straight forward. They're offering to rent a room that has a hot tub, a sauna, a shower, a TV, a resting bed, and nothing more. If you're looking for somewhere that'll give you lemon water and cocktails or snacks - no, they don't do food and drink service. It is possible to buy water and some other beverages tho. No alcohol is allowed. Elliott Bay Sauna & Hot Tub has been open for forty years and the front lobby looks it. I gave the nice and super efficient man behind the counter my ID, booked a room for two hours, and then went inside. Everyone else were in pairs except for me and my friend. Despite this the man only hesitated for a second, barely noticeable, and got me in. It's neat. The hot tub's diameter was about 60", but it was over four feet deep. When I sat on the wooden bench the water went pass my shoulders. The jets go for 15 minutes and they're strong! I managed to work out a knot in my shoulder that I couldn't loosen for months in there! It's sanitary. When the jets started there was the distinct smell of bromine cleaner which is gentler on the skin than chlorine, more pleasant smelling than chlorine, but just as effective as chlorine. The sauna was large! Two benches you could comfortably have four people in there if not six. It was amazingly hot. I couldn't manage the sauna long just because it was so warm! I liked the smell of wood tho. Not putting water on the rocks - it's all electric! The TV is available with all the basic xfinity channels. Cellular signal was practically nonexistent in the room I was in and there was no wi-fi. I learned Audible, despite having books downloaded, wouldn't let me access my library as normal due to that. Next time I'll download more electronic books or a movie. Don't be like my friend and bring a real book unless you like damp pages. It's a very wet environment! Despite being disconnected - or maybe because I was disconnected - I had an extremely relaxing time. I just floated in the tub listening to Christmas music. I think next time I'll only go for 90 minutes instead of 120 and bring more than 32 ounces of water. I left dehydrated despite what I thought were solid efforts. My friend brought 90 ounces and he felt that was perfect. It truly was a delightful experience!

It's a nice place to relax and unwind. You have your own room so you can just soak your worries…read moreaway. When you enter the room you'll have your own Sauna, Jacuzzi, Shower, even a bed if you need a nap.

I received a Serenity Spa facial, the esthetician focused on my concerns which I appreciated. I loved the facial and décolleté massage portion also that was added on, I never had one last so long with a facial before! I only took a star off as there was a few minutes where no one was at the locked door when I arrived even with my knocking. This caused a bit of stress as I was worried that there would be no one at the establishment as I had booked the night before! I called and there was no answer, I then left a voicemail. It seems the typical person who worked front desk was sick. When someone came to the door after a few minutes, there was no acknowledgment as well to my waiting. I'm assuming she didn't hear me? Perhaps they should get a doorbell in these instances if they're working on things in the back? Other than that snafu in the beginning, I had a lovely visit.

I enjoyed my time at Palace Spa today. There are three soaking pools. Hot, warm, and cold. The cold…read morepool is great after a steam room session. My strategy: Steam room 10 to 15 mins, shower/rinse off, cold pool, hot pool, cold pool again, REPEAT. The employees were extremely welcoming and friendly especially considering this was my first time. I was provided with super clean white towels, a locker key, and a change of spa clothes for accessing co-ed areas of the Spa. The steam room, sauna, and soaking pools are gender segregated. I was told not to wear a bathing suit, but some others were wearing them. Even though the Spa seems to strongly encourage nudity, it is not absolutely required. Bathing suit or not, you're required to take a cleansing shower prior to accessing the pools. The restaurant closed early, so I unfortunately missed out on trying the wild foraged mushroom soup. Homemade borscht is also a thing to try. Overall, the place could probably use a remodel, but for the price and everything you get, it's really an amazing value. I will definitely be back!

Visited on a Monday morning with my mom, just for a day pass (no treatments like body scrub or…read moremassage). We didn't know what to expect because of all the recent mixed reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised by our experience. My key takeaway is: This is a decent spa, as long as you don't look too closely! We started in the jjimjilbang and tried out the clay, salt and ice rooms. We had the place to ourselves! The rest area outside of the rooms is a bit dilapidated (reclining beds that didn't seem to function anymore - can't change the position to sitting up or lying down, and we couldn't figure out how to turn out the overhead lighting so we could read), but fine. Then we moved to the private salt room that's only available via the women's locker (smaller room, but seems more recently renovated and a bit cleaner). We followed this up with the women's only steam sauna (very spacious), dry sauna (three levels!) and the hot tub. The "cool" pool was essential for cooling down in between the sauna and the hot tub. The "warm" pool seemed a bit too hot - and not all that different in temperature from the "hot" pool. The spa was very peaceful, and we only crossed paths with a handful of other patrons during our 3.5 hours there. The shower facilities are decent, and the provided shampoo, conditioner and bar soap is fine! Generally, if you look closely, you can see ways the facilities are in need of improvement (peeling paint on the ceiling, rusting fixtures, missing bricks) but our experience overall was decent. It's $45 to enter for the day, but if you buy passes for 10 sessions, the cost reduces to $35 ($350 for 10 passes). My mom noted that the experience helped with her joint pain, so there are certainly therapeutic benefits! Overall, not the best Korean spa I've ever been to, but good enough for me to come back when I'm in town. Also: The woman who works at the front desk is super friendly!

I was so happy to be going. I sit in my car and drive people around so I get really stiff!! Plus a bit of a knee problem that has made me really stiff. First I went in the sauna. That helped loosen me up for massage. Steve really worked on my low back and quad and hamstring. He did such a good job I was actually walking better after!
