**Update as of 1/4** The business owner initially responded to my review on Google on 1/1. He said he would extend a one time credit. All I had to do was reach out. Now, 3 days later (the first day I had time to reach back out), he has changed his response. The new response no longer has the original offer of a credit. Instead, it's basically a lot of words to say that customer experience only matters if it's positive, something about how roller coasters don't give refunds if someone pukes, and the next staff training will include something about credits. My issue remains unresolved. Urban Float is a dishonest business that only cares about money. Buyer beware. Poor experience overall. Positives: -clean -nice staff -explained things well -places to dress, do hair, and skincare with good hairdryers at each station. Negative: My friend and I had our first floats 12/29. Including my pre and post float showers (5 minutes each), I was in my room MAYBE 20 minutes out of the 60 minutes I paid $99 for. I was in the actual pod less than 10 minutes due to uncontrollable nausea. I had no idea this would happen to me, but it's nobody's fault. The staff were polite enough to check on me, and get me water and tea to drink. I asked if the circumstances would allow for a credit (yes, a credit, not a refund) that my husband could use later, but was told by the manager that she can't. The best she 'could' do was 20% off. I wasted $80 to sit in a lobby. I realized after I left that their website says people who cancel within 12 hours of an appointment have to pay 50%. Yet someone who shows up on time and tries to participate only gets 20% off? It's unfortunate that y'all chose to waste an opportunity to turn a negative into a positive, and possibly gain some more loyal customers. Instead, neither myself nor my friend will be back. Sadly, she was also soured by my experience even though she enjoyed her float and Rex treatment. This is my 3rd time leaving a review, let's see if anyone actually follows up, or if Urban Float cares more about making money than "providing a clean, calm, and welcoming environment" as per their mission statement. I most certainly do not feel welcomed after this experience. read more

Initially, the staff here was very nice for my friend and I's first float. The vibes became weird after my friend got sick within 10 mins of her float session and had to stop. They made her pay for the whole session despite it making more sense to charge a cancellation fee. My friend asked if she could have a credit to give to her husband since she was still being made to pay the full price, despite not being physically able to complete the session. The manager said that she could give a discount but that was it, the whole thing seemed like a money grabbing scam complete with a tip screen showing up while having my friend pay almost $100 for nothing. No thanks! Buy some epson salt and put it in your bathtub, you'll save yourself a lot of money. Also, when responding to my friend on google reviews they compared her sickness to being at an amusement park but how you still don't get a refund? An amusement park has a million other offerings so where is the other offerings? That is the poorest analogy they could've used. Urban Float in University Place is so nice, always welcoming, we love just walking in the door; I'm a fan of floating & red light. The float tanks here are the best, Urban Float gets everything right. My other half kinda likes floating, but he's too tall (6'8") to get all the way comfortable even in the biggest tank they have, so he's quickly becoming addicted to their other amazing services. I gifted myself my first float for my birthday. I was attended by the staff to help orient me to my experience. I loved the private room, with a private shower that includes all the soaps needed pre and post float. I love a dark room, but became a little disoriented since my body had turned sideways. I ended up hitting the emergency button instead of the lights and the staff was immediately at the door asking if I was okay. A friend had warned me, that I might feel sick or have a bowel release. I had neither. I felt really energized and alert for the rest of the day. I asked my doctor who said if I had nausea or bowel release it meant that I was really low on magnesium or had leaky gut. No fault of the float tank itself. I was so impressed that I purchased a membership and can not wait to return. read more

I came here using my ClassPass, which got me in to a 40 minute Infrared Sauna session. They also have Float pods of course but I will need to try those next time. Overall I had a lovely time! The young ladies working the front desk were very nice and showed me to my sauna room after offering me some water/tea. I opted for some herbal tea. I got the $5 single serving of sauna oil which basically looks like coconut oil with some other moisturizers on a small spoon. I was instructed to put that on all over so that it would improve my sweating process. The infrared sauna is a sauna box with different colored lights to help with various maladies. I got a overview of this from the ladies and an index card of what each color helps to treat to use during my session. There is a remote to change the light colors. You can also adjust the ambient music volume and temperature while in the sauna. Differences between this sauna and the traditional dry sauna: - No rocks and no random naked man pouring water on them making steam - This one was completely private with a shower stall in the corner to rinse off, body wash and shampoo/conditioner included - Enough space in the box to sit and stretch out a little bit but not enough to fully lay down - Even though the temperature is hotter than a traditional sauna it doesn't FEEL hotter - Sweating is intense! I felt super rejuvenated after my 40 minutes were done. After I showered and thanked the ladies I went home feeling like my lymphatics were working double time. Of the sensory deprivation chambers I've visited in Tacoma, Urban Float offers the most relaxing, most professional, and most comfortable space. The pods are these futuristic capsules that are practically large enough for me to completely outstretch my limbs without touching the sides. The tall, sloped ceilings prevent condensation from dripping into my eyes (Salt water in the eyes ruins the whole experience). There are buttons on either side: one for the interior light, and one for emergencies. Thoughtfulness emanates throughout the experience. The hosts speak quietly and take pleasure in serving. They give you your choice of soothing music, including the choice of when you want it to play. They post signs in the room with suggestions for the optimal float (like what temperature to run the shower, what order to use the soaps, float naked, how to meditate, etc). In the event that you do get the heavily salted water in your eyes, they've even hung a little spray bottle of freshwater inside the pod. They also provide ear plugs to keep the water out, and a little drip bottle of vinegar in the shower to rinse your ears after the float. The only complaints I had were 1. When I first got inside, the pod light shone yellow and made it look like a pool of urine. The color eventually changed but I had a momentary concern for cleanliness. 2. I also had difficulty pressing the button to turn off the light; whether I tapped it or mashed it, I couldn't get it to respond. I ended up sloshing around awkwardly (there's very little friction to press against) until it finally dimmed. The rest of my time there passed without incident. The water in the pod is body temperature and so full of salt that you float effortlessly on the surface. After a few minutes, you forget that you're even in a pool, so it's best to find a comfortable position and be still. As far as I'm concerned, the benefits of sensory deprivation are overhyped. I don't experience hallucinations or visions, I don't have any brilliant epiphanies, and I don't feel any kind of trancendance. What I do experience is peacefulness and comfort, helping to bring a frazzled mind back to equilibrium. Though your mileage may vary, this benefit alone is worth the visit. Float chambers are a unique experience that should be tried at least once, especially for those with stressful lives, and Urban Float is a great place to do it. read more

Urban Float @ University Place (from my float yesterday) ~ Pod is very large (you can keep it open or closed (I suggest closed for maximum temp, sensory deprivation and meditative state), you can choose to float in the dark or with lights and when you're finished tou have access to a shower (bathwash, shampoo, conditioner supplied for you) and warm towels use! Relaxing experience! When you arrive you check in, fill out some consent forms and watch an education video. At the front desk there you choose which music you would like to listen to as well as purchase any face/eye masks or cbd products if you so choose. Each room is private with the pod, shower and area for your clothes/towels. You'll start with a shower and wash your hair (only shampoo). When finished you'll put ear plugs in and then get into the pod. You can chose to leave the pod open or closed & the ambient lighting on or off. I wanted the full experience so I closed it and turned the lights off. It was so dark that I couldn't tell the difference from when I closed my eyes to when they were open! The float lasts and hour. Don't be surprised if you fall asleep - I did! At the end of the float you'll gather your thoughts (or wake up) and get out to shower. This time you can use that conditioner! Products are provided. OutsIde of the room are hairdryers and a few essentials to use if you would like. Stay and relax in their side room with some water & tea! Overall this was a cool experience and I was relaxed afterward. However, because it is the same price as a massage (if you don't have a coupon) I probably won't be doing this very often as I am more relaxed with a massage. Highly recommend for everyone to try! Check in went smooth. The sauna session was nice. The float was where it fell apart. I requested music to start and end my float, but nothing played in the tank when I got started. That wasn't too big of a deal, I figured I would still get the end music to prepare me for getting out of the tank at the end. Instead, while in a deeply relaxed state, the filter kicks on (which is located right above my head) and streams heavily salted water over my face and eyes. Being jolted back to reality by a that ruined all the relaxation that preceded. I left the pod fuming in anger, and far from relaxed. After telling the attendant about the experience, her response was "Yea I have heard people say that the 'Ocean Storm' music is hard to hear", as if that was really the point. Edit: The manager reached out to me and apologized for what happened. They offered to book me another float to try again. I did get the feeling that they sincerely wanted to make it right and start over. I'm amending my previous 1-star review to 3-stars for the time being Edit#2: my second visit went off without a hitch. They have earned a 5 star review. I would recommend it. read more

Pretty sure the owner is racist. So here is what happened. My husband and I used to have a membership at Urban Float about 7 years ago. Floatation therapy is one of the best things I've done for pain in my body. My husband was outside earlier in the day fixing up the backyard. He got grass seeds stuck in his thick afro. When he showered at Urban Float, some grass seeds ended up on the shower floor, which should not be a big deal. But the owner, Jesse, saw the grass seeds and said that he banned from his location forever. Because of a few grass seeds. There was no reasoning with Jesse. So fast forward to yesterday. I booked myself a float because I was really sore and needed to float. Apparently, I am also banned from ever going back to Urban Float in University Place, WA. Just because I was associated with him. I booked the float and got a phone call from Urban Float and the lady working there told me I was banned. I told her that my now ex was banned, but I am not with him anymore, as he is my ex. She talked to Jesse, the owner, and he refused to let me go back there. The Renton Urban Float never had a problem with either of us being there and we floated regularly there for years. But the urban Float in University Place has the worst owner ever. I believe he is racist because he is clearly black with his large afro and a few grass seeds should not be a reason to ban me or him from a business that we went to almost on a daily basis. read more

Although the room was clean and the employees were friendly a hot tub or bubble bath would be just as relaxing and not nearly as expensive.My suggestion would be to have samples of the music and it would be nice to have the ability to select your own music. First-time floater and the entire experience was wonderful! The shop was very clean and serene. Making the appointment was easy and was able to get in the next day. I did their float, infrared light therapy, and Bemer treatments. I sell houses so I treated two of my real estate clients to their couples package to relieve the stress and anxiety of selling their house and moving out of state. While a rather unorthodox closing gift, the 2-hour experience consisted of an intimate couples sauna followed by relaxing solo floats, then salt body scrubs and moisturizing body treatments. they thoroughly enjoyed it. As an extra bonus, I got us all their Bemer treatment. I'm definitely going back. NOTE: Everyone apparently gets the saltwater solution in their eyes their first time and it burns like hell. I live in New York but I wanted to give her a float as a gift because she had had such an incredibly relaxing experience when she went to Urban Float previously. She went today and was told she couldn't use my groupon gift because she had previously used a groupon for a float. She was never told when she booked the appointment that she wouldn't be able to use the groupon. I certainly was not aware that when I purchased a gift for someone that they wouldn't be able to use it. She or her family members certainly won't give Urban Float any business again. read more

I had a fun time. Something different to try. If you like taking bathes you will really enjoy this. I am not much of a bath person so I got a bit bored by the end. Your skin will feel so soft afterwards. The staff was quite busy so had to wait for a bit to check out. No need to bring a towel, shampoo, conditioner, soap or hair dryer. They provide them all. This isn't close to me so I didn't get the membership ( similar to Massage Envy). But I had fun and would recommend to others. read more
