This is another locals dive spot. From the outside very basic and they even joke themselves about it. The service was really quick and the staff was kind and exercised southern hospitality. Everything was made to order and made as ordered. The salsas were pretty good and I over all enjoyed my experience. Not fancy, not expensive, just good food at a reasonable price. I love their super Guacamole salads, my husband loves their smothered burritos and tacos. Great place for lunch and since we've moved away, we always try to hit here when we're in town. We'll get enough to eat there and to take home for dinner. You know... it would be easy to avoid this place but driving by or window shopping but I am glad I didn't the other night. I had low expectations but the food far surpassed what I expected. Went in 45 minutes to close and the place was sparkly clean. The tacos actually had meat in them. I fed the family of 4 for $20 that night. I was super impressed with how good the food is for a basic Mexican restaurant. Taco Town has lost it's vision. At one point in time, Taco Town was a great place for locals to dine at a reasonable price for better than average food. That has changed, and not in a good way. While the quality of the food has remained the same, the cost has not. As with many other places, costs have gone up. Expectations would be that quality and service would improve. In the past, the cashier and even the people who preped the food, dang near knew everyone by first name. They all had a smile on their faces and the "mojo" was in full display. It's very disappointing that when you walk in, the atmoshpere doesn't reflect of what Taco Town once was. Catering to "Door Dash" and all the other delivery services should be second fiddle to the customers who actually take the time out of their busy day/evening to get in the car, travel to the location, and stand in line to place the order and hoping to get that same ol' greeting that used to be. Consider not accepting service deliveries between certain hours so that the concentration can be on the customers who come for a pleasurable dine-in experience. Even dumping the service deliveries all together would be the ideal way to get customers back to the business and re-create what Taco Town visioned years back when it opened. The service deliveries are doing more harm than good. Remember: Taco Town did just fine before the service deliveries and will do just fine without. The locals will support. read more

This place has been here forever, and is an institution in the community. It is not fancy gourmet Mexican food, but rather, an Americanized version that is delicious and fills a void. Not much chicken in my burrito, there were MAYBE 3 small piece of CHICKEN and the flour wrap was not toasted or warm. Other items were fine. Chips and salsa were great. One of the better fast food Mexican joints I've tried. They have great daily specials (aka: 50 cent taco Monday, $3 taco salad Thursdays...). There is always a good sized line at lunchtime, but it moves very quickly. The food is great and it is locally owned. Hours are a downside (no weekends, close at 8 pm). Sadly enough, these are probably the best tacos in the two-county area. It's a dive. They literally only started taking credit cards two days ago. And it's in a terrible location. On the other hand, it's cheap as dirt. And it just tastes great! Real Tex-Mex, like you'd get in, well, Texas. Definitely the cheap stuff. But the kind of "cheap stuff" that you'd have gone to a dive for there too. Okaloosa and Walton Counties are filled with "Mexican" places -- Pepito's, Old Mexico, La Rumba -- which are all chains and while all serve the EXACT same menu in the EXACT same style as one another. And it's dive food too. The kind of dive food you WOULDN'T have gone to a dive in Texas for. It will fill you up, it's not strictly terrible, and you can get used to it. But it is about two orders of magnitude worse than, say, El Chico, or Chuy's, or virtually any other place in Dallas or San Antonio. Then there's Cantina Laredo, which bills itself as "gourmet" Mexican, which isn't true: it's sort of gourmet Tex-Mex. And it's great...if you're in the mood for that. But you aren't always in the mood for that. So that leaves us with Taco Town, which fortunately has several (even more dive-y) locations in the area. It's cheap, quick and good. NOT a date place!!! But if you're just craving a good taco (and at this location, a whole wall-menu of other stuff), this is your place. read more

Umm! Wow! Food was trash! Ground beef was like pasty dog food. I asked for beans and rice and what do you know they don't sell rice. What Mexican food place don't sell rice. The lady behind the counter that was taking my credit card to pay for the food had a whooping Cough !! I had to wash my AMEX card with soap and water because i had old lady germs all over it. The chick taco that I got was bland and taste like the chicken you get some the starkest can. The inside of the restaurant was no bueno. Dirty, disgusting. I did get the refried beans and they was delicious even tho they had to nerve to charge me for chips. The saving grace was me dipping the wack taco in the beans and cheese . If you starving and need food to survive don't go here because it's a waste of time and the restaurant should be shut down. They probably have a C rating too. It's true- it isn't much to look at, but the prices are extremely reasonable (cheap even), the staff is always friendly and always remembers us, the food is always fresh and reasonably quick even during super busy times.
