i hear all these stories of the local eats, because my son is stationed down here. "MOM! I gotta take you to tijuana flats!!" Now, keep in mind that my son (formerly known as mr. picky pants, if you've followed me for any amount of time) always orders the same thing when we goes to a restaurant. So, he comes here to get a very specific burrito. I tried the shrimp bowl. I was in such a happy place (because i LOVE a bowl) that i don't even know what his burrito had in it!! They did NOT skimp the shrimp! (if you order shrimp very often, you know they limit you to 5-6 pieces, usually) In this shrimp bowl, i stopped counting at 10..... there were more than 10!! and not the small ones..... like decently sized shrimp!! it was so good!!!! I wanna go back, so that i can be like my son and order the same thing everytime i come here!! DELISH!! read more

salsa, chips, cheese were great However my enchiladas came out cold cheese was melted and cold meat was cold.. sons taco meet was cold

Wish I'd gotten pics of the interior, this place is a vibe. Came with a decent sized group, and it wasn't busy at all for a dinner time. Maybe because it was a weekday. Ordered the Garlic Lime Shrimp Bowl. Didn't know what to expect, but picture a slightly fresher Chipotle bowl. Definitely recommend for a healthier-feeling option. Super yummy. Didn't realize it came with chips. Very Americanized "Mexican" food. This place isn't exactly like TJ, but still really yummy. Covered in cool, quirky decor. Surprisingly served wine. Good patio. This place is perfect for a date night, to go out with friends, or even a family meal. I already want to go back! read more

This was such a fun experience! I was craving some flautas and I saw their food pictures on yelp and decided I had to try them out! They have super delicious queso for purchase that is bottomless. Their flautas were not the best I've had but they were good. My husband had the chimichanga and liked it. We were not briefed on all their sauces but I heard they are known for them and usually have a sauce bar set up but have removed it due to COVID. My sister and her husband got burritos and they were huge. I would not say this is the best quick serve Mexican food but I would return simply for the bottomless queso although it could be a little less salty. read more

I love the food!the service was fast and easy! The staff was great! A great place to eat

Tijuana Flats has always been one of my favorite Mexican-Americano-Tex Mex places to visit. The food is always great. It has reasonable prices and a hot sauce bar to sample. If Dothan, where I am from, would build a Tijuana Flats, I would never go to another Mexican place. Thank goodness Fort Walton Beach had one I could eat at on one of my recent trips. This one is definitely the most unique Tijuana Flats I have been to since it is in a old Burger King. I tried something new on my last visit since I am trying to lose weight. I chose the Megajuana Bowl with Steak, no rice, and queso and chipotle topped. It was shockingly better than I imagined it would be. Most of that reason is because the steak was juicy and tender. I am always weary of steak from Mexican places since it is usually very poor quality or tastes similar to dog food. There was not a bad piece of steak in my bowl. The queso is fabulous always. And the different hot sauces that I get to add to the bowl, makes it an experience with so many tastes. My favorite hot sauce is the Georgia Peach. It tastes little to nothing like peach. It is sweet and almost like a BBQ sauce. Come on Tijuana...come to Dothan, AL! read more

My Go To Mexican Food when i'm in Fort Walton Beach. Fantastic food, excellent service, and two for one draft beer that never disappoints. Seeing it's Tuesday, I got their Tijuana Tuesday Special grabbing a 1 Carnitas and 1 Chicken taco (their big!) Taco Tuzeday is our favorite day and menu item! For $6.49 (+$1 for steak....WORTH IT!), you get 2 tacos, chips & drink. There are options like soft or crunchy taco shells, corn or flour tortillas, you can choose to add all or none of: tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, onions, jalapeños, and sour cream. There are menus by the front door, and once you know what you want to order, head up to the counter. They take your name, take your order, you pay, get your drink (including beer options), and take a seat. When your order is ready, they deliver it to your table with a smile. While you wait for your order from a wonderful menu, you can visit the hot sauce bar at the rear of the dining room. They offer little cups to hold your choices of over 10 hot sauces, registering from mild to wild. They even offer bottles of some of them for sale at the counter. Today we discovered that if you buy a $5 coozie, for ever after all cans and bottles of beer are $2. Out front is a decent sized patio with umbrellas to shade the area. For well behaving pups, this area is open for you to hang out with them.....or anyone else who enjoys eating in the fresh air! read more

As I mentioned in my Yelp check in comment, "This reminds us of a favorite restaurant we visited frequently near our home n Southern California...Salsa & Beer." Great food in a casual, relaxed, matching atmosphere. Fun, colorful, eclectic decor representing various and sundry themes are displayed all over the place. Murals, painted celling tiles, virtually every space is covered with eye-catching art; almost a sensory overload. Not a gigundous menu but a great one nevertheless. We started with a tray of fresh, made-in-house-from-scratch tortilla chips (thin, crisp and tasty-toasty), salsa (slightly spicy and tomato-tang savory - common but fair), guacamole (thick and creamy and loaded with great flavor). The entrées we chose at our table ranged from flautas (thin and flavorful, crisped just right) to tacos (fresh fish topped with veggie accoutrements) to burrito bowls (skipping the carbs here) to a nice kids meal of chicken nuggets with tortilla chips and applesauce. And when our little one asked for another serving of applesauce, the helpful, congenial staff brought him another portion free of charge. (Class!) Everything we ordered was a winner-winner-Mexican dinner! Flavors were spot on, ingredients mixed with flair and - some items were supersized as a special of the day while a few draft beers were BOGO! Can't beat that. So... ya wanna kick your tacos or burrito (or whatever) up a notch? Then try one ... better yet, try several of the sauces from TF's amazing "Hot Bar." Holy mackerel! There are sauces here covering the gamut from simple-and-sweet to super-hot heat. Sweet Chili, Georgia Peach, Louisiana Swamp Scum, Smack My Ass and Call Me Sally, Red Ghost, Green Ghost, Iguana Radioactive, and several more. Warning, Will Robinson, do not get the sauces near your eyes. They can be excruciatingly irritating. (And just to balance the kudos with a dose of food frankness, there was one sauce that fell totally flat in my book of flavor faves: Curry something -- meh-ick.) But virtually all the others - they're darn good. Come on in and meet your heat. No doubt in my mind that Tijuana Flat's success comes from their philosophy and overall approach - making things in house from very fresh ingredients, serving people with pride, joy, and ... having a wonderful sense of humor. Come meet and eat and -- sometime please be sure to read the details of their operation on line. Giving, caring, sharing goodness. read more

A must try if you like mexican and hot sauce if your life... besides the great food ( i ordered an atom bomb, cheese quesadilla and chimichanga) everything was perfectly done. The hot sauce bar is one to die for... i almost tried every hot sauce on display.. the tropical chilly curry delight was my fav. The one and only disappointment were the churos. Great food and great service. Meal was awesome and people were very friendly. Chips & queso were enough to fill up on alone but we didn't stop there. First time here and Tiffany didn't disappoint. Excellent service and excellent food! Will definitely be back!

I had a hankering for quick Mexican that wasn't Taco Bell. I popped in here to place a to-go order and had an excellent experience with the front-of-the-house workers (cuz they're awesome). They were personable, friendly and offered great customer service. Unfortunately all of the food was completely too salty. The queso, the beans, the steak. All of it. WAY too much salt. I threw more than half in the trash But thanks for a great customer service experience read more

Any place that has more than 16 hot sauces that you can sample has a special place in my heart. Although it's like a borderline fast food joint, they do a pretty darn good job in welcoming you in the door, getting your order, and serving you some delicious Mexican food. Their burrito bowls are awesome, especially when you get the works (lettuce, onion, pepper, salsa, cheese, etc). I preferred their guacamole over the salsa, but they were both legit. Their quesadillas are jam packed and oozing with cheese and [insert preferred meat here]. I've been told they've got specials on Tuesdays. But the main pull is their super tasty hot sauces. The Smack My Ass and Call Me Sally is their brand name, of which I bought a bottle of their Smack My Ass and Call Me Hot Sriracha. read more

My hubby and I had some time to kill sans children so we decided to share some nachos here. We had never been even though we have driven by the place since it opened (locals). It's not much from the outside! That has definitely kept us away in the past. The Yelp! reviews are the only reason we found this gem. We split a nachos (black bean around $7) and also one fountain drink. The total was $9.99, which was a great deal! The portion was insane and the ingredients were fresh. Even the jalapeño! The atmosphere is really fun and hip: not what you'd expect from the outside (which looks like an old rundown Burger King). The seating was comfortable (sat on a cushioned stool). The staff were friendly and welcoming. The servers checked on us frequently. It's a bit odd to Ofer at the counter then sit and be waited on...wasn't really sure if I ask the servers for more beverages or if we go back up and order? The girl at the register described the place as, "full service after you order." That part was uncomfortable. Hubby and I got filled up! Great value! read more

Prepare yourself for an interesting review. Forgive my atrocious grammar as you will discover tonight is NOT the night for me... Holy guacamole(pun intended). This place is the best. I have been eating here for a few years. A couple times a month at least. Tonight prompted a review. We ordered late. The kind of late that makes you go "Uhg, we are going to get crap food its so late". Why? Because if you are the closing crew of ANY business the less outstanding your performance is the closer it gets to locking the doors. I'd like you to take into consideration the employees who deal with a clearly agitated and seemingly entitled behavior from the public the last couple years: Imagine your job is to make food all afternoon for someone else to enjoy, whole families, with a smile, and now its nearly time to close and get back to your own life. Its dark so you FEEL tired, more tired than day crew because daylight has a natural energizing effect compared to night. You still have to clean up all the cooking, prep, and dining areas inside and outside where its dark and chilly. Additionally this establishment is located very close to the coast. Theres always a moist breeze but usually straight up damp WIND. Tonight was probably Rock Paper Scissors for who had to handle that uncomfortable set of tasks outside. The register has to be counted. You are likely not well staffed due to covid, so fewer people are handling more tasks adding to anxiety and limiting ease in expressing a patient and friendly attitude. The more tacos you have to build to the perfection they should be the less desire you have to achieve such a task. We all know as closing crew you can't start actually closing until every customer has left. We all want that go ahead from the manager 15 minutes before close. A good manager knows it encourages the crew to knock out the closing tasks so they can be starting the car and out of the parking lot just a few minutes after the clock strikes "Closed". All that said, we ordered 8 tacos MEGAJUANA(which means huge). They were so damned amazing. Indiscernible from tacos made earlier in the day. As if the employees, who always appear jovial and were as such tonight, wanted to make tacos later than the store stays open just for the love of the job. To encourage you further to eat at this amazing place I should also tell the tale of the events that lead me to ordering tacos from Tijuana Flats tonight. At about 5:50pm I started my closing routine at the cellular repair shop I work at, literally 5 minutes from flipping switches and stepping outside which is only 15ft from my car. I hear a sudden roaring of a motorcycle engine. It is a normal sound at the intersection we are located. Then I hear a terrible noise and clearly it was a crash. The motorcyclist had lost control of his bike, collided with my car and starting from the rear bumper rode down the entire drivers side like a rail, destroying both the rear and front tire and finally ripping my front bumper apart. Now to ease tensions at this point the first thing I did was make sure the guy was ok and he already had a group of people at the scene helping and police were already pulling up. He was injured badly on his foot but was alive and cohesive. So my car, which I rely on to support my wife and son, is not drivable. Proof is in the pictures I will attach to this review. Dealing with the event, and subsequent horrible insurance agent on the phone(story for another time) took HOURS. Needless to say my evening was all but shot and the next few weeks doesn't look like fun. Likely going to cost me a $500 deductible. After all, I gave my insurance information to the officer but received no such document from the other party... Lets just say its not promising. My point is I was expecting to get half hearted food. I wasn't in a good place mentally. Instead 4 members of my family were provided 8 perfectly prepared and absolutely plate licking delicious mega tacos. So to the crew working tonight: You saved my evening. Seriously, it was off the chain. Id like to return the favor. If you come to Sarges Cellular Repair and you work at Tijuana Flats you get 10% off any repair. Ask for Chris. To the readers of this review the 5 stars are for continuing to prove they make the best damn tacos around and they love what they do. The love is in the food, you can taste it! I apologize... I didn't take any pictures of the food! When we opened the boxes there was a sudden radiant glow and mouth watering smell coming off the tacos that entrances you to attempt to inhale the tacos whole. They didn't last 10 minutes. Staring at the empty foam box, realizing there was no more yet instead of depressed I was satisfied and my conscience said "You must tell the story". read more

Tried to got peppers and Pedro's and they had two hour waits. Decided to go to Tijuana flats better than awesome margarita burritos and tacos and quesadillas excellent chips and queso excellent. Staff is insanely awesome and fast Prior to tonight I've only come here at lunch which usually is Wall to Wall people. I really don't think I ever want to go to Peppers again. Sure they don't have a Gotti Latino scene It's more of a throwback graffiti theme. But I can hear what I was thinking I could talk to with my wife and I stuffed until I couldn't eat any more than got it to go box. Meanwhile I had to sit for a while though to work off my awesome margarita. read more

Food is good and the taco sauce bar is cool but prices can be a bit high if you don't stick to the specials. It's very clean and decorative inside. The food was okay? Certainly not amazing. My husband and I both ordered the steak chimichanga. It was very small, with not very much in it. My kids got quesadillas and loved them. Everything was served with chips. Our burritos were on paper plates. We ordered chips and salsa which you pay for, they are not free. We also ordered churros which were delicious! So basically we got 4 drinks, 2 chimichangas, 2 quesadillas, churros and chips. For a whopping $80. Now i understand eating out us expensive but $80 is insane especially when you're served on paper plates. They're biggest selling point is the hot sauce variety they have available. read more

The way this place works is you seat yourself and order drinks and appetizers from the waiter. Then you go up to the front counter to order your main meal and pay. (Not sure why they don't have the wait staff taking your entire order at your table?) Another waiter then brought the food to our table after we ordered and paid. The food was great and everything is fresh. The burrito bowl was very satisfying and provided plenty of leftovers. My son loved the quesadillas. We also took home some fresh chips and salsa, both of which were delicious and hit the spot later. The prices were reasonable as well. read more
