Taco Tontos is a usual spot for my family, and their menu is awesome! One of my favorites is their Cheeseburgerito with a side of chips and queso. Be sure to check out their Facebook and give them a follow because some of their specials are out of this world creative. As well if you are at the Zeypher next door, call in an order because there is a walk up taco window on the Zeypher patio. Their dining room is small but you can usually snag a table. Living in Kent, I prefer to call in my orders and take them to go or enjoy a tasty burrito in the park nearby during the summer months. The service is great but they do get busy around dinner time so please allow them some time to prepare your food. With only a couple workers, they were doing a great job at keeping up and making great flavorful food. The vegan brunch burrito was the best burrito I have ever had! The vegan egg, spinach, and vegan cheese tasted just like a omelet, the potato's were cooked perfectly soft but held their shape, the vegan sour cream added creaminess, the pico was fresh and bright, and the chorizo spiced tofu-seitan mix was super flavorful and tasted like a firmer and less greasy chorizo which I really liked. The smokey hot cilantro sauce was the perfect, spicy, herby, smokey contrast to the hearty burrito. We orders the nachos and a taco basket of three tacos of the day - the banh mi tacos - to share. We weren't sure if this would be enough for two hungry people, but we couldn't even finish it and had to take some home. The nachos were incredible - crisp, flavorful, with a kick. I love this place! This is my favorite spot to get a burrito and go! I get the chicken burrito every time. The chicken is very flavorful and the tortillas they use are grilled and come out all warm. The topics that they use seem to be fresh or pretty new. The people that work there are great and are always nice and helpful if you don't know what to get. As for the sitting, it is a very small area. At times if you come at a busy time, don't expect much places to sit and be ready to take the food home or sit outside. However when you do get the chance to sit, the tables are very clean, along with the seats. Definitely recommend trying this place if you haven't. read more

I will admit, my wife was not a fan of the nachos because they were built for a man cave. You know, chips, tones of meet, real cheese and what ever else, thrown in an over and baked. The cheese can cause several to stick together when it cools. I had two tacos, pork and a steak. I had them on soft corn tortillas. Oh man were they good. Rice, cheese, beans, meat, meat and meat. with some salsa. I could eat one and a half. I believe the tacos are about $3.50 - $4.50 ish. The wife had a chicken quesadilla. She also felt it was one of the best. She could not handle the size either. The place is not really big, so you may be forced to carry out. They do have seating for probably 20, but I found a lot of folks come and park. So your mileage may very here. So be flexible. read more

Taco Tontos is a Kent staple. You can choose takeout, eat in their small but eclectic dining room, eat on one of their tables on the sidewalk or order by phone and pickup in the window on the Zephyr patio, which is the option I would recommend. What sets Taco Tantos apart from other burrito spots around here is the fact that they grill the burritos. It adds such a distinct flavor and texture that can't be matched. On top of that, it isn't a big chain, which is always a plus. I love their mild sauce too. You can get a regular or an El Biggo. The El Biggo's huge, but usually a $1 or so more, so it's totally worth getting, and saving for lunch the next day if you can't finish it. A regular is good to order if you don't want to feel too full, but is still a good sized burrito. A burrito will run you $7-8, but it can get a little pricey if you add toppings that don't come standard. I've been coming here since I was a kid when they were located in the basement of the Loft. I always get a burrito, but I recently tried a double-decker taco, and oh my god. It's a hard shell wrapped in a soft shell, and queso holds it together. It was huuuuuuge, and was insanely, and I mean insaaaanely good. I can't stop thinking about it. It's hard to pass up a grilled burrito, but this taco would make me think twice next time. Watch out for their daily specials. They offer really fun outside the box burritos a few times a week. Tonite, I got the Banh Mi burrito which had Vietnamese pulled pork, rice, house pickled carrots, cilantro-line cucumbers and soy sesame mayo. It was really good, and unlike what I'm used to eating. I've seen Greek, pulled pork and falafel burritos, and wanted to try them. They do Friday fish and shrimp tacos, they were okay, but not my favorite. It's real grilled fish, not breaded deep fried. There's nothing better than getting off work at KSU, heading to Zephyr for a cocktail, and then ordering Taco Tonto's (which has a convenient pick-up window on the Zephyr patio). There are terrific daily specials and deals, especially Tuesday's $5.00 taco special. I love the-layer with queso as the "lube." I recently tried their Friday blackened fish burrito bowl, and that was killer. I loved the house pickled veggies. I've yet to have something I don't like here, and of the other options for tacos downtown, this is the best by FAR in terms of both the food quality and the value. The toast on the burritos is always perfection. Chips are seasoned really nicely. House-made condiments like the scorpion sauce add surprising heat and flavor. This is a great casual taco joint in the heart of Kent. We came with a group of 10 people after a show on a Sunday afternoon and were able to squeeze in at a table. The service was fast and casual, and the food was decent but not amazing. I ordered a steak burrito but what I got much more closely resembled carnitas (it was still delicious). The sun was streaming into the restaurant making it quite hot, and someone kept changing the volume on the radio so the music varied between nearly inaudible and eardrum blistering. I've lived in Kent a couple of years now, and I'm sad to say this was just my first time eating at (rather ordering take-out) from Taco Tantos. Everyone we talk to when we had first moved always recommended it, but we just never walked down. With that being said, it did not disappoint. Unfortunately, I feel like you often get small portions at small/local businesses as everyone is trying to cover their margins. However, this was not the case with Taco Tantos. We ordered to "el biggo" combination burritos (beef & bean) and a large side of chips and queso, and it was plenty for me and my husband (who tends to rarely get full). The queso was great - you can tell it had quality ingredients. I'd definitely recommend it over Chipotle - it's great to eat local and get the same value (both in ingredients and price). This place is the real deal. Way ahead of chipotle in the huge burrito game and absolutely unique in being a foodie dream. Options you would not expect in a typical taco joint (sweet potato's?!) There are options for the vegetarian's, the vegan's and the gluten free. The service is top notch, you can tell the people working here love their job.
