Santana burrito, combo fajitas, and memo margaritas. All fresh and delicious.
Kat S.

My now-husband and I moved to the Falls in 2018, and shortly after, El Papa's opened on Howe Road. It quickly became one of our favorite restaurants--certainly the best Mexican in the Falls. At some point during the pandemic, they unfortunately closed. We have been really underwhelmed by the most popular place in the Falls (not trying to bash them), so we were definitely missing El Papa's. We were ecstatic when we saw they were reopening on State Road, just 5 minutes from our house. The menu is more or less the same, and the interior is similar but slightly nicer. The bar area is huge and looks very cozy. There is a small but inviting patio I look forward to sitting on next time we go. The place was spotless. I had fajitas, and they were fresh and grilled perfectly. Beans were incredible--so creamy. My husband had one of his old favorites, the Santana Burrito (carnitas with salsa verde), and it was even better than he remembered. I am excited to try the chile colorado, one of my favorite dishes there, next time we go--which I have no doubt will be very soon. Get the Memo style margaritas. Again, they taste fresh and not like the lime green artificial ones. We are so happy to see El Papa's back in our community!

Agavero is located in the large shopping plaza along Howe Avenue in a couple of store fronts. Inside is a medium sized restaurant decorated with orange walls and wood with larger paintings on the walls, the feeling is nicely Mexican without being hokey or over the top. The menu is extensive and prices are reasonable. I ordered the #4 lunch special, a Chile Relleno with rice and beans. Chips and salsa were quickly brought to the table; both were ok the chips were fresh and the salsa was thick and mild, I did add some hot sauce to spice it up. My lunch came out very quickly, the plate was pretty and the food was nicely fresh and hot. The Chile Relleno was interesting, with no batter and a very mild chili pepper. The Salsa Verde on top was bright and vibrant. The beans and salsa were both good with mild flavors and nice texture. Overall the food was good, although the flavors were a bit muted for my taste. Agavero is a nice place to grab some solid Mexican food, but I did find the food to be a bit tame. Prices are good and the service was great, but I am always looking for bright and exciting flavors.

We discovered Amigos a couple years ago, when seating was very limited, but they recently expanded and the decor is more inviting and authentic. We've tried a lot of things on this menu and have never been disappointed. Our food has always been fresh and plentiful, served with a smile. Two things I can ecstatically recommend: their house guacamole and their margaritas. Their hearty and bold guacamole is made fresh to order right at your table and it's become our favorite guacamole. We love their mango margaritas. We have found chunks of mango in ours, and make certain to always get the rims coated with tajin because they use tamarind to get the spice to stick to the rim--so tasty! This is a really enjoyable restaurant we always look forward to visiting!

The taste was good, presentation was good, but the portion size was definitely not sufficient for two as advertised (my husband could've easily eaten this meal in its entirety in one sitting, but I will admit that he is a hefty eater!). For comparison, I usually get the chicken fajita and have a ton leftover. The Pina Loca was roughly 1/2 the portion size of a fajita (I scoped 1/2 of the pineapple filing onto my plate as you can see in the picture). We also ordered the kids meal with a beef taco, rice, and beans. These portion sizes were great! Lastly, we received one tiny container of salsa and about a half a bag of chips for our family of five (Other meals not pictured were: quesadilla and taco quesadilla combo). All in all, we were satisfied and would consider ordering from El Maison again, but we would definitely reconsider our choices.

You can choose from mango, watermelon, or a mix, and I chose mango. They're super sweet, and the alcohol doesn't overpower them. I also ordered guacamole and shrimp fajitas. Both were prepared well and were super yummy. At the end of our meal, they gave my friend and me free shots! Overall, this was a very fun experience, and I'm really happy I went!

In my most recent adventure, I visited Taqueria La Loma in Akron and very much enjoyed my meal. After ordering from the counter, I sat down and was quickly given some fresh chips and salsa to snack on. Although these were delicious, I probably should have passed on this because what I ordered was much more that I could eat alone. I was impressed by the flavor and value of the Mixed (shrimp and octopus) Ceviche, and would absolutely suggest it to anyone. I'd never had octopus ceviche before, and was concerned about chewiness, but was pleasantly surprised at how tender it was. I assume the shrimp ceviche is similarly good. I also ordered 3 birria tacos. I found there was maybe slightly too much cheese in the taco, but the tasty consomé dip was impressive. To wash it all down, I had one of the best horchata drinks I've ever had in my life. It was sooo good and a must-have. The staff was attentive and helpful, and the food came out quickly. The restaurant was basic, but clean, and looks like the kind of authentic place you'd want to go for a casual but tasty Mexican food meal. I will be recommending this place to my co-workers in the Akron office, and will go back again next time I'm in town.

One of the best parts of a chimichanga is the deep fried exterior and crunch. Here they smother the chimichanga in cheese so there was no crunch to it. I know places like this are very popular so I gave it three stars but if you want authentic food look else where.

Sadly, we all had complaints of varying levels for each dish. The macaroni and cheese was okay, but had no seasoning at all. The soup du jour of chicken and rice was also okay, but the rice was undercooked. Potato pretzel walleye was also just okay, but way over breaded. The worst dish was the steak skewers, which were recommended by our waiter. I asked for them to be cooked medium rare. Of the 4 pieces divided between two skewers, one piece was medium at best and the other three were well done. If the meat tasted good, I wouldn't complain, but these cuts were so tough, I could barely cut through them with a steak knife. I only took two bites from two pieces and left the rest on my plate. When the waiter checked in, I politely told him about my steak. He said "well that's unusual". He took my plate, walked away and never said anything else. I wasn't looking for a free meal, but an apology would have been nice! No need to go back there.

Paleteria La Fresa also has a rotating stock of homemade popsicles in familiar and unique flavors, from strawberry to avocado to Mexican custard! My Yelp friend who joined me for dinner and dessert there a few days ago has tried at least a dozen flavors - her favorite is avocado. This was my first visit to this restaurant and spent some time looking at the pantry stuff for sale (didn't get anything) and debating which flavor of popsicle to get for my first visit here, before ordering two Mexican street tacos and one carne asada sopes for dinner. My meal also came with unlimited chips and salsa which we immediately demolished! Ultimately, I chose to get the Mexican cake popsicle flavor which was so smooth and creamy and milky and then crunchy with Mexican chocolate slabs inside! It was very refreshing, unique, and not very expensive at 3 bucks. My tacos were saved for later (and tasted delicious a couple hours later at home) but I ate the sopes at the restaurant. It was generously piled with carne asada and the corn pancake was 1000/10! I will absolutely order sopes again! For $16.50, I had a lot of food, a nice treat, and great company. I plan to come again!
