Soft Taco
Tamie J.

Purchased a 6 pack of soft tacos for my granddaughter. She ate one, I put a little mild sauce and my own sour cream. Her 2nd one she said I don't like the taco sauce. So I opened another one and just put sourcream. She then said I don't want anymore. I tasted the taco, it was awful. The meat didn't taste like taco meat. It tasted like what dried kibble dog food smells like. Taco Tuesday (4:45, 3/11/25). The lettuce was subpar. Worst tasting tacos. I ordered tacos their several times. I chose Taco Tico over Taco Bell because Taco Bell is overly salty. I tried sending a email, it wouldn't go through. So I'll drive there when it's not busy to tell them about my experience and request my money back $11.29.

Enchilada!

Tried this place for the first time. I was craving hard shell tacos, so that's what I got. In a nutshell, they taste very similar to Taco Bell's hard tacos. Pretty weird. I was expecting more of an authentic Mexican taste. Came with lettuce, shredded cheese, tomato, and sour cream. I also had the deluxe (or is it supreme?) enchilada. Overall, it was pretty good! It was full of flavor. Nice dollop of sauce, cheese, and packed with ground beef. Speaking of ground beef...I'm not too sure how I feel about the texture of their ground beef. It's almost TOO soft. Seems a bit pasty but maybe that's just me. Overall, the food was decent. I think I'll continue my search for a "taste of Mexico" until I return to Mexico.

Since I was a little rascal roaming the streets near UNO, there was a Taco Tico and a movie theatre on Elysian Fields and Robert E. Lee boulevard. I always ordered the taco burger and could never get enough of them. Today it's all gone and I thought the taco burgers would be no more. Then, I saw the sign. The Taco Tico sign in Kenner. Who would have known. A hike in the wall joint but just one bite and it all came back to me. Fresh taco burger supreme x's 3 later and the tummy is full, a memory of past realized and life is good.... Remember to support your local businesses and know that sometimes the dives over the best foods.

You can look at the meat and see that it is not cooked or heated up whatever they do to it!!!!

I was served tacos today the meat was freezing cold, like right out the refrigerator!! I call to complain and Karena (the manager) wants to argue with me about my order that I just picked up and I can feel that the meat is freezing cold!!! This place is going downhill fast!!! The employees are very unprofessional and I will not ever go back to this rat & roach infested disgusting Taco Tico!!! I wouldn't not have even given this shit hole even 1 star if I didn't have to!!!!

This is the last Taco Tico location in the state of Louisiana. The company is actually based out of Wichita, Kansas and the remaining locations are privately owned. (According to Wikipedia) We got take out here this past Saturday for lunch. Currently, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they are only doing drive-thru service. There was a little bit of a line when we showed up, but their crew kept it moving pretty quick. They have a decent sized menu with a variety of the typical Mexican entrees offered (Tacos, Burritos, Enchiladas, Quesadillas, etc). The portions were ample and the prices were great. I got the special they were featuring which was 3 Carnitas Tacos for $6.95. They were excellent. I would definitely go back for more of those.

Ummm, *blinking eyes* and not in a good way.

Not my first time here but first time in over a year and the taste is just as bad if not worse. I'm sorry to be so truthful. I try to give folks the benefit of the doubt but this is consistently bad. The reg crunchy tacos are $1.19 and $1.49 for the supremely nasty ones. I just can't make out the meat taste. It tastes like they mix refried beans in with the meat but it's not. Hot sauce has a very strong vinegar base that's overpowering and I haven't tried much of anything else. Every Sunday, tacos are $.79 each but I don't think it's worth a third try, albeit, three time's a charm, so I hear.

Simply just an old school taco joint. I prefer it to TB. Love the Taco-Burgers, but their Tostados and Quesadillas are on point.

Las Cruces Tex Mex - Steak fajitas and chicken enchiladas

I have been plenty of times for tacos and beer on their Tuesday special, but today I went for a…read morefair shake at a full meal. Sat down immediately, they had the football games on tv and the outside area was jam packed with kids at a family event. I also never took a chance to admire the wall art, the flowers were a standout. I did notice a lot of tables were pretty dirty and could use a wipe down; I also noticed our table wasn't exactly sparkling either. The waitress basically told us she was burnt out - she was human and down to earth. Spoiler: she was excellent! Chips and salsa came out. Worth noting the first one had a sweeter taste and the second had a spicier taste. Some may call this inconsistent, but I saw it as a sign that it's homemade. Additionally we ordered a SMALL guacamole, and the small is massive. Tasty, full bodied, my only gripe is that I wish it was a bit chunkier on the avocado end. I ordered the smoked chicken smothered burrito and this thing was gigantic. Partner ordered poblanos with smoked pork. Both dishes are a super generous portion and delicious. Big thing here: I think between the meats and the smoked pinto beans it's worth noting that it blurs the line between its own identity and its sister restaurant of CCBBQ. This is NOT a bad thing, as the smokier flavor profile gives this Tex-Mex a unique angle. May I suggest a smoked salsa of sorts?? Only real miss was that we ordered a side of street corn; while it looked the part and was totally loaded up, it was utterly bland. Tough to accomplish this with street corn, I'm curious what could have gone wrong especially given that it looked beautiful. Two sodas, an appetizer, two entrees, and a bonus side dish came out to $59. I find this to be right on par! I will admit, the alcohol is way overpriced, I've noticed from my other visits. I only drink when it's taco Tuesday/happy hour. But for the price of a non-alcoholic, FULL course lunch, it's perfect. Been back before, and I'll be back again. Great job LC.

I had the pulled pork sandwich with fries, very generous serving of pork on the sandwich and the fries were some of the best I have ever had. Kinda flat french fries, yum. Wife had the grilled chicken enchiladas with refried beans and she said the enchiladas were full of chicken and were delicious. She also had a small cheese dip which was a very generous portion. We will be back. The lunch menu is a real deal with our selections today costing $10 each.

I had the Dorita's Famous Chicken and Mandarin Salad. It was ok. I think I was expecting more due to the name, but the chicken was lacking flavor and so was the poppyseed dressing. I think an alternative dressing would have made a big difference. What I did notice was that all of the dishes were very generous and almost everyone had lots of leftovers. Also, there is a large lunch menu (which most of us ordered from), and it's available on Saturdays as well. Big plus.

Margaritas too...always good. Service has always been fine. Now. The bad. Y'all. The ladies' room smells aggressively terrible. "Room" autocorrected to "run," and that felt spiritually accurate. It smells like someone made a series of deeply personal choices and then left them behind. Not a faint odor. Not a "maybe it needs attention." I am talking full, undeniable, immediate presence of Satan's butthole. One step inside and your body goes, "Absolutely not." Every time I've been here. Every. Single. Time. I have to hold my breath for the entire bathroom visit unless I want to gag and rethink my life decisions. Seriously. Today I almost lost my nachos before I even ate them. I should not need lung capacity training to use a restaurant bathroom. I genuinely like this place and keep coming back because the food and drinks are good. But please. I am begging. Exorcise whatever is haunting that bathroom. No margarita is strong enough to erase that experience.

A few years ago I had been to La Tia in Metairie, and it left a serious impression. What stuck with me most were the craft cocktails...creative, clever, and a little bit mischievous. I still remember one in particular: a Mexican-inspired cocktail with mezcal and beet juice that somehow managed to taste like summer decided to take a vacation south of the border. It was the kind of drink that makes you pause mid-sip and say, "Okay... whoever thought of this deserves a raise." Somehow the place drifted off my radar over time. But when the craving for Mexican food hit, it popped right back into my head. I was excited to bring my son and daughter-in-law since they had never been. Unfortunately... the reunion didn't exactly go as planned. Two things hit me immediately while looking over the menu. First: the craft cocktails were gone. Not "different." Not "updated." Just... gone. Replaced with the same drinks you see in every other Mexican restaurant. Second: the prices nearly made me spit out the water I hadn't even ordered yet. $6 for a Corona. $18 for a basic burrito with fries. $10 for a kids plate over chicken tenders and some fries. And not the old La Tia burritos either...the ones I remembered piled high with rich molé, bright verde sauces, and layers of flavor that made you wonder if you should be taking notes. Nope. Now we're talking about a plain flour tortilla with some ground meat inside, no sauce, and a side of what looked suspiciously like freezer-aisle French fries. For eighteen dollars. My daughter-in-law ordered the fajitas, and honestly... they were rough. Thin strips of overcooked meat that looked like they had taken a brief vacation in a plastic bag before hitting the grill...served on a plate. Lately I've gotten into the habit of pulling up Yelp photos to compare dishes from past years, and I did exactly that. I found a photo of the same fajitas from about three years ago...big, juicy steak pieces, sizzling on cast iron and full of life. What we got looked like it came from a completely different restaurant. To be fair, my shrimp tacos were actually pretty good. Nicely cooked shrimp, decent flavor, and probably the lone bright spot of the night. But overall, it felt like the La Tia I loved had quietly packed up and left the building. The elevated Mexican food? Gone. The rich sauces? Gone. The inventive cocktails that made the bar worth sitting at? Also gone. In their place: food that feels pulled from a bag... at prices that feel pulled from a luxury menu. It's a tough thing when a restaurant you once loved loses its spark. But sadly, this visit felt less like a reunion and more like running into an old friend who has completely changed--and not for the better. As much as I hate to say it, I don't see myself returning to La Tia anytime soon. Turns out the only thing that stayed spicy... was the price tag.

On our last visit the fajitas were incredibly salty and we did not even finish them. Well, THEY ARE BACK! I am very happy to say this! We went there last week and had the chicken and steak fajitas and they were incredible once again. Great flavor, well seasoned, cooked to perfection. I have one big complaint, however, and it has something to do with their supplier. In my wife's and my opinion, the shells they provide to you for the fajitas are an absolute joke. Taco Bell's shells are larger. Every other Mexican food restaurant I have gone to are larger. Really, guys, I don't want to hear about your supplier, I could not care less and really do not want excuses. Then, the bartender has the Gaul to tell us that they are designed more for pushing than making a fajita! DO NOT tell me how to eat my meal and do not come up with such a poor excuse. This place has great Margaritas. Donnie is an incredible chef putting out the best Fajitas in the city! Once I ordered, the food and drinks came out quickly. The 'unlimited' mimosas actually cap at 5, which is fine, but the mix they use cheapens the drink, and the glasses weren't the cleanest. The birria and grits were good (about a 7/10), though I think the pre-shredded Mexican blend cheese on top took away from the dish. A traditional white cheese would have worked better. The birria tacos were tasty, though. The bathrooms could use attention as there were no paper towels, which makes me wonder what employees do after washing their hands. Overall, it was a good experience and definitely cost-efficient. With a few tweaks to the drinks and presentation, this place could easily go from a 3-star to a 4- or 5-star brunch spot. I'll be back to try the tacos and check out the unlimited margaritas.
