Came here on recommendation from a medical assistant that said she grew up working here. The restaurant is walk up counter to order but the seating area is spacious and comfortable. Its quite a family look with a little lady making tortillas behind the counter from a bag of dough and a press. We ended up getting quesobirria tacos, chorizo tacos, pozole, qnd a couple other things but those stood out. They were great and i could survive on those alone. Was kinda surprised they didn't offer chips and salsa though even as a side dish. I ended up getting some extra tortillas just to have and they were great with some beans and salsa that they did have. The salsa selection was fairly limited. There was a salsa bar with the usual thin salsas green and red and some spicy carrots and radishes and a couple other things but nothing really unique. The price is right, the quality was great and cool to watch it all being freshly prepared. just watch out for the bus terminal that drops off next door - luckily we came right before as the line was 30 deep when that let off but they worked their way through pretty quick! read more

First of all, I reminded myself to come for Taco Tuesday $1.50. We have not been here before, we didn't know what to expect. We went straight to the counter & ordered Tacos, but instead of $1.50 it's $1.75. We didn't know what their regular price was. For us, it was way out of our way, to drive here 148th & SE Stark, for we were heading to Jantzen Beach for an errand, from around the Roseway Neighborhood. The guy at the counter, didn't seem to understand what I was talking about, he keep looking at the other guy for answers or to translate, or ? We ordered 5 tacos, to go. The tortilla was handmade, the lemon was cut so big, it was hard to get any juice out of them. I thought, the el pastor was like any other food carts. Do we want sauce? Yes. He gave us two types, hot & hotter, but none was mild, which I liked. (He didn't ask). There are enough napkins to go, mostly from wiping our fingers from the messy-hard to squeeze lime juice. (My tip: cut into thick slices, but cut off the ends, then cut them into halves. Hope that helps. It should be squeeze with 2-3 fingers, not 10). Anyway, here trying to help them out. Nice spot in an old subway on Stark. Order at the counter which I hate. Anyway ordered two taco plates wth beef. Which included beans and rice and a 1/2 of avocado. Everything was very tasty,but a little salty for us. The place is a little expensive but worth the extra couple of dollars. Very clean, and lots of free parking. By the way they have a free salsa bar, which includes almost everything you could possibly want. read more

They make your food your way. Then they cook it up for you right then and there. It's authentic and delicious as all get out. Their portion leaves you with a second meal, for most. First of all, the menu is pretty limited but we were here for the tacos. The tacos are trial$1.50/each. I always eat carna sada so I ordered 3. The wait was kinda long for this only. The meat flavor was good - pretty typical, compared to rico taco and Don Pedro (old pizzahut). They have lime, celontro, but no tomato salsa. No tomato salsa, no biuno. They use pork and beef fat in they're beans. I've asked them if they could change and use vegetable oil and they told me "NO" So I no longer eat here. If you choose to eat here. Be careful Animal lard is bad for your health. Clogs your arteries. And builds up plaque. Which puts you on the path to having heart attack or stroke. If they change to vegetable oil I would possibley return but for now I'll get my Mexican food some place eles. read more

This place is amazing! Seriously the best Mexican food I've had north of southern Arizona. Their Rice and Beans are to die for. I'm wishing I lived closer cause I'm pretty sure I'd come every day for lunch if I could. Took my parents and they are now planning to bring the rest of the family. The menu is in Spanish but it's really easy to figure out what you want. Plus it was really cheap. We fed 4 people to the brim with drinks and it was only 25$. This place is pretty dang good. Reminds me of places by where I grew up. Small, handwritten menu, soccer on tv and a jukebox. I ordered a bean rice and cheese burrito and a chicken taco, the burrito was huge and was real good for something so simple. The taco though, that's why I'll come back if I'm ever near here. Handmade tortillas. Really well flavored meat, the salsas taste fresh and there's a good selection, and this place is CHEAP. Everything I got cost me 7 bucks without tip. Not bad. read more

While visiting Gresham, I found that my favorite taco truck closed down. Had to find a place to go so I Yelped this place. Since it was literally 2 minutes from where I was with the best reviews, I gave it a try. It's not the best looking place. Looks like a dive. But you know how you can get some of the best food in dives...? The place doesn't have the best looking menu or signs or salsa bar....so my expectations were not very high. I thought the menudo was pricey so I decided to order a burrito. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Good carne asada and no grease running out of the bottom! A bit off the beaten path, but then again - if you aren't willing to make an effort, everything tends to seem not easily accessible and off the beaten path. If you, however, do make it all the way here, you'd find pretty darn awesome tacos and burritos (can't vouch for anything else on the menu due to my lack of experience, but judging by those two choices, the rest should be of an equally thumbs-up kind too). The place is clean despite seemingly underpromising exterior, self-serve taco toppings bar is one of the better ones I've seen and if that is not encouraging enough, most (more like 100%) of the clientele apart from you on any given day here would be of Mexican descent and that is usually a pretty good indicator of quality in my [salsa-stained] book. Working class neighborhoods and good food are rarely mutually exclusive and this place exemplifies such mixture like very few others. read more

can't believe i worked 10 blocks away from this cute little tucked away shack for years and never noticed it! it looked promising before i even ordered. all the tables were packed with Mexican workers and families on lunch break. the fixin' bar was loaded with fresh veggies, pickles, and sauces. they had chivo on the menu on a weekday! i got the chivo, cabeza, and lengua tocos. tortilla was fluffy w/ a slight crisp on the outside, fresh off the pan. veggies crunched, salsa gave a kick, and juice oozed out of succulent chunks of meat when i bit into it. and all this at $1.50-1.75 per taco! read more
