As soon as you step in the restaurant you are welcome by this sign on the wall as well as by its friendly and hospitable employees.
Manuel M.

After some time being a food truck, now Taco Riendo has moved to full fledged brick and mortar Mexican Restaurant located in Williamson Road, Roanoke, Virginia. As soon as I found out the good news I decided to go visit and try it out under its new place. Located in a totally renovated building, the outside was nicely painted and designed with a lovely business sign on the front and on the sign where there is an entrance from their very convenient parking lot. Once inside, I was able to observe they had done a nice job in the interior renovation of the large space building, not sparing a cent. It looked wonderfully, nice and clean with freshly painted walls, large artworks hanging from them very elegantly, new tile floors, simple but nice looking furniture, and a large host's counter where their To Go orders would also be taken and served. Above the counter they had a large lit sign with the the menu and photos of some of their main items. The menus pretty much remained the same as when they were at their other small place next to the Food truck. I waited in front of the counter until the host arrived and I informed her that I was dining in and would like to be seated at a booth. Not long after I was seated, my server, a friendly young lady with a welcoming smile, came by and took my order. The menu was practically the same they had at their other place, the the prices remained very reasonable. I ordered an Horchata to drink and as my main course an order of Tacos Dorados de Res. This was the same item that.I had ordered last time I had eaten at their other place. You can read my other review here. When the food arrived I noticed their dishes were plastic green and their silverware was disposable plastic white. Their food however had improved immensely, especially their Tacos Dorados. The shredded beef was not that dry as the first time. They seem to have followed the advice I gave them in my previous review and made the shredded beef more moist and crunchier on the outside. When I asked for the dessert menu, my server told me that they were not serving dessert for the time being. This local Mexican family-owned restaurant business has come a long way since its beginnings. And now that they have designed and moved into this clean and beautiful restaurant, it gives tribute to their much work, pride, and determination in offering the Roanoke community a taste of their genuine Mexican Cuisine. I definitely recommend this restaurant and urge you to stop by to enjoy their food and give them your total support.

If you're looking for delicious food, a bright and inviting atmosphere and excellent prices, look no further! The hawaiian quesadilla and quesabirria torta are a couple of favorites. Taco Riendo also serves fresh juices and horchata (no alcoholic beverages, however). And next door, there is a shop with fresh fruits, vegetables and dried chiles including tomatillos, plantains, yucca, nopales, guajillo chiles and more. You might feel like you've been transported to Mexico for the afternoon or evening!

It's hard to find a bad taco anywhere, but it can be hard to find something as tasty and authentic as Mexican Street Tacos. I've eaten here a few times, and its gard not to make a habit of over stuffing myself. Eat a taco, you deserve it.

This is our favorite go to for any pick up food. The service is always consistent, the food is always fresh, and the food arrival is always quick. We enjoy the atmosphere, options, and prices of the food and order from here at least once a week. I ordered the platilla de milaneza which did not disappoint. The combination of thin fried chicken, Spanish rice, refried beans, lettuce, avocado, cotija cheese, and tomato along with either green or red salsa is amazing. The corn tortillas are always warm and a splash of lime completes this dish. My normal go to is the shredded chicken tacos. These perfectly portioned tacos offer a flavorful combination of seasoned chicken, lettuce, avocado, cotija cheese, fresh crema, and tomatoes on a corn tortilla. Add a splash of lime along with the provided salsa and it's perfection! We have never considered ourselves regulars of a certain restaurant, however, this is one place that we never tire of. With teenage boys in the house we can always depend on Taco Riendo to offer delicious food at affordable prices.

Barbacoa gordita

We decided to try it again after someone brought him a Gordita and he fell in love. He got barbacoa gordita and I got the taco plate with asada. Both were delicious. We both weren't completely full but it was better than with the quesadillas. Friendly service and we probably would go back again

We stopped in on our way to NC and we were not disappointed. The service was great and the tacos were delicious.

Always great and fast service with no issues. I am so glad that this authentic place is right near my house. I could literally eat here every day. Food is always fresh and taste absolutely fabulous. I have tried a few things from the menu and Have yet to be disappointed. The inside is originally a store with the restaurant side which has a few indoor seating options but not many. The food is actually made from their food truck which is located directly next to the store. In addition to the food truck there is also a truck that makes churros and a truck that does specialty drinks and Mexican fruit cups. By far one of the best authentic Mexican places in Roanoke and if you have not tried them, I would recommend. Please don't come here thinking this is Tex-Mex or Americanized because it's not.

Platillo Pastor NOT

I ordered the Platillo Pastor and received dry meat crumbles. Definitely not the item according to the picture. Rice was bland. No flavor. Beans were tasty but soupy and only a quarter cup. Quesabirrias were bland and consume was bland.

This place is amazing!!! Love the fresh produce and the food is so delicious, and the service is great!! If you haven't checked it out yet, you absolutely need to. I got the quesabirria tacos and they're awesome!

The Historic Roanoke City Market Building currently houses nine different restaurants. One of them…read moreis Tacos Rojas. At first it seems like a hole in the wall, where you approach and they take your order and payment. Then you go take a seat either in one of the many tables of the Market Building, that are arranged similar to the Food Courts in the Malls, or in one located in a small outside patio (mostly used during the late Spring and Summer, or when the weather is warm). But don't be fool, this restaurant is more than a hole in the wall or part of a Mall's Food Court. Even though the kitchen and ordering counter is located in a very small space. There is nothing small in the quality of the food nor in the very flavorful cuisine. And their customer service is definitely top notch. They have copies of blown up menus next to a window facing the inside of the Market Building so customers can study the menu well before approaching the ordering counter to make the order. They also have the same thing in the outside seating area patio, which is under a roof. And right above the ordering counter, more blown up menus, as well as regular size menus laying on the counter. But besides all this, they have very engaging employees who are very helpful making recommendations on what to order if you are still undecided by the time you reach the ordering counter. And this is precisely what one of them did with me and I ended up with one of the most amazingly delicious Mexican food that I've ever had in any size restaurant. To drink they have a display case refrigerator with many non-alcoholic drinks to choose from, and a small bar counter where Margaritas are made. To drink I got a Jarritos Mango natural flavor soda. And to eat, I took the recommendation of one of the employees taking my order and ordered the Chessy Tacos Birria, which were made with seasoned shredded pork, and came accompanied by a bowl of consomme to dip my tacos in while eating them, and by little bowls of red and green salsa to put on the tacos if I wanted them more spicy. For dessert I ordered a Flan. Since it is Winter, I had my dinner inside the Market Building, where my server brought it to my table, and followed up at the appropriate times to see if I needed anything and who brought me a napkin holder full of napkins without me even having to ask for it. My server did a nice job providing excellent customer service and establishing a wonderful customer relationship to indirectly invite me to come again to try other items of the menu in the near future. Its delicious food, welcoming ambiance, and excellent customer service, have won me over, and make me keep coming back. After having been selected as number 4 of Yelp's Top 50 most prolific Elites of 2025, a year when I also was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Photographer of the Year Award at their Yelpies 2025 Award Ceremony, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, and where last year I was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Yelper of the Year Award, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to return to those special ones, that have made a difference in my life and highlight them, for the benefit of the public, so they too can have an opportunity to appreciate the qualities of a one-of-a-kind fine dining experience. And Pancho Mexican Restaurant in Towers Shopping Center, in Southwest Roanoke, is a perfect example. As soon as I entered its door today, I was greeted by the Host with appreciation and taken to one of the comfortable booths of the restaurant. Soon after I was seated with the menu, another friendly employee brought me a basket filled with a generous portion of fresh tortilla chips and a bowl with a small glass bottle filled with their amazing sauce. Not long after, my server came by with a smile to see what I wanted to drink. She tried her best to talk to me in English, but when I switched to Spanish, that made her more comfortable and she appreciated my noble gesture. I ordered a Virgen Jumbo Frozen Mango Margarita to drink. While I was enjoying my chips with salsa, and studying the menu to see what I ordered today, they brought the order to the booth next to mine and I was very impressed with the "Steak con Camaron" served on a sizzling skillet. It was a T-bone steak grilled to perfection with plumpy, nice size shrimps. So when my server brought me my drink, I order this dish as my main entrée. I think I've had almost all of the most exclusive entrées on the menu. I invite you to view all of my photographs and videos on the Yelp site to get a better sense of its fresh and delicious food, as well as the photographs and videos I took today, accompanying this review. Just so the steak doesn't overcook and become tough, I would advice you to place it on the plate they give you with rice and refried beans, soon after it arrives on your table. The flavor was delicious, and the melted cheese on top of the plumpy shrimps also gave them this amazing taste. While I was enjoying my dinner, the restaurant manager came by to say hello. As a regular here, it was nice to be acknowledged and appreciated by the manager, and I believe this is an important aspect of an extraordinary dining experience. For dessert I had their Churro Cup. And this made the big difference in my perception of this restaurant and their entire culture. It seems to me that everyone is welcomed at Moe's, no matter the color of their skin nor their socio-economic status. And genuinely caring about your customers is something that is lacking in many restaurants and should be top priority in the selection process of their employees. Moe's first started in Atlanta, Georgia in the year 2000 and the letters of their name stand for "Musicians, Outlaws, and Entertainers." They celebrate the unconventional. With the belief that you don't achieve greatness unless you "stir the pot." This Moe's Southwest Grill is conveniently located in the Bridges Shopping Center, next to the South 6 Apartments at the Bridges. It is housed in a beautiful, modern red brick building with their restaurant sign high above in yellow, red, and black colors. High above their two glass door entrance thete is another sign that reads: WELCOME TO MOE'S. Once one steps inside, a sound is heard and all their employees with a big smile shout "Welcome to Moe's." The interior design of the place has exposed black ceiling, large yellowish tile floors and lots of orange and red colors to help create a happy dining experience. It also has lots of windows all around their interior brick walls with posters featuring AUGMENTED REALITY (AR), which can be experienced via the Moe's Rockin' Rewards app. On the right side of the restaurant there is a low wall that goes all around and in front of the ordering counter to lead the way to the large menu on the wall and then to the counter where you tell their employees what you want and you watch them make it right before your eyes. I ordered The Stack with Grilled Steak as my protein and many other items along the way. I invite you to view my photographs that accompany this review. I made it a Meal and got a side of Queso and a Regular Drink. By the way, the Chips are free with your meal, they are made fresh daily, and are thin and crunchy. They also have a complimentary Salsa Buffet, where you can get a number of salsas to go with your chips. And if this wasn't enough, their drink machine is one of those where you can choose an already known drink or make your own by adding many flavors. I found this restaurant to be a clean, lovely place to enjoy a Mexican meal in a happy and fun environment. And I highly recommend this restaurant for it's uniqueness and friendly service, as well as for its variety and quality of food.

Their employees are well trained in food handling and in the times they need to wash their hands and change their gloves. As a matter of fact I like them so much that I own Chipotle Stock in my Investment Portfolio. After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And the Chipotle Mexican Grill at Towers Shopping Center, located in Southwest Roanoke, Virginia, is the perfect example. I currently have 12,838 Reward Points from Chipotle reflected in my Chipotle app. Most of the time I order delivery from this store location. But today I happened to be in the area and decided to go eat there in person. Their restaurant is located on the right of T-Mobile at Towers Shopping Center. This place has been totally renovated since the time it was built and all the stores there are very clean and presentable. They are in the right corner of the strip mall in a modern building painted yellow and white, with bright red window frames color. The interior design of the restaurant has nice contemporary furniture and lighting. As one enters through the main door on the left side, one walks all the way back until one reaches the counter and tell the employee there the entrée they want, the protein, the ingredients included, and the extra ingredients that are Guacamole and Queso Blanco. There was one customer in front of me and I took a look of the menus high above and some enlarged photos advertisements of some of the items. When the server came back and asked me what I wanted. I told him a Braised Beef Barbacoa Burrito. He heated the large tortilla to make the burrito and started asking me what I wanted on it. Starting from the white rice and black beans, then the protein that I ordered was the Beef Barbacoa, the mild sauce and the one with corn, graded cheese, and sour cream. He was wearing gloves as he handled the Burrito and was very generous with the portions. When he started folding the Burrito, it was so loaded that it cracked, so he asked me if it was alright if he put another tortilla over the first one. I agreed and he did a great job folding the Burrito. Then he wrapped it in an aluminum wrap and put it inside an orange plastic baske. By this time we had reached the cashier who asked me what I has so she could price the order, I included a fountain soft drink. I had her scan my app so I would get my Rewards points for this meal and paid with my credit card. The cashier lady employee was very friendly and nice, even though she was wearing a mask. I found this a little strange because Chipotle Corporate now has paid sick leave to encourage employees to stay home when I'll. It also has come up with their Food Safety 7, a system of seven key protocols for preventing foodborne illness, encompassing Work Healthy, Work Clean, Keep Produce Safe, Cook it, Keep it Hot/Keep it Cold, Maintain Sanitary Conditions, and Call for Help. These guidelines are a core part of the company's overall enhanced food safety program, which also include rigorous supplier standards, and enhanced internal training. I took my Burrito and paper cup and sat down at a table in front of the softdrink machine after getting some ice and Root Beer. The Burrito was real Fat, sort of contradicting those customers that are saying that they are making them smaller. And it contained lots of protein and other ingredients. It was truly amazingly delicious. The only thing that prevented me from having an excellent dining experience was that I noticed that the Organic Lemonade and Agua Fresca dispensers were dirty, empty, and not cleaned nor replenished. Also that the floor of the seating area next to me was dirty, and they didn't have anyone cleaning the restaurant after the customer. The dirty floor detracted from the beautiful contemporary decor of the place and ruined the perfect dining experience. I hope Corporate and management reads my review and immediately corrects this, for it is one of the only reason I didn't give it a 5 Stars review.
