Both the lunch chimichanga and the veggie tacos were tasty. Prices are reasonable and atmosphere is pleasant. A great lunchtime stop while running errands.

New location looks beautiful. Prices were middle of the road and tasted good. The Arroz Texano was excellent. Went at 2pm with only a handful of patrons being there.Service was good. Our waiter checked on us occasionally and our food arrived within a reasonable time.

This was an early Sunday lunch in route to a few hour drive home and was pleasantly surprised by this strip mall Mexican eatery. Although our party would have enjoyed some white sauce along with the salsa...we let it slide for today. The lunch prices were great, the food was flavorful, and our waitress was friendly and attentive. The place was much bigger then I had expected from the outside looking in...so definitely good for groups! You won't ever feel cramped here! We had fajitas, tacos, enchiladas, and flan. We were happy with our meal and wouldn't hesitate on returning...if we lived in this area that is. All in all two thumbs up....do people say that anymore?! Well, either way I just did!

The steak, carnitas and chicken tacos are great, as well as the molcajete. Reasonably priced, XX on draft.

The place doesn't look like much from the outside and it doesn't get too much better on the inside. Its definitely not dirty or run down inside but you can tell its fairly old. Our group started off ordering a mix of waters and margaritas which those turned out pretty good. I wasn't sure if I wanted the regular or jumbo size margarita so I waited until everyone else's drinks came. I eventually ordered a regular but got a jumbo anyways, i probably really wanted a jumbo. I was glad I got the Texas one since it wasn't quite strong enough by itself. I ordered the choripollo and it was delicious. I always love a mexican place that had chorizo on the menu. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but for an old looking place in Bedford I was pleased. I liked being able to make small tacos with the chorizo on top of the chicken breast as well. Everyone liked their food as well so I'd call it a success. Ending with one of the first things, the chips and salsa were also good.

I had the Birria tacos which can be hit or miss at restaurants, but these were so flavorful. My kids had carne asada tacos and taquitos - the carne asada tacos were tender and Smokey and delicious. The taquitos were pretty good, but nothing out of the ordinary. The service was fast and friendly and the prices were super reasonable. The decor was a little tired and there were several fruit flies buzzing around our table, but neither were enough to distract us from the food. Highly recommend this place!

The meals are reasonably priced (you can "build" your own meal starting at $10.99 for two items). My plate was barely warm but the manager reheated it. Temperature really improves flavor. The read sauce was delicious. I wouldn't order a quesadilla again but I will try other items on another visited. The burrito was yummy. One of my guests had the chicken fajita. There was only one tiny piece of broccoli in her veggies. She only orders this item and it was the first time it was just passable and not extraordinary. (Her four time winning streak ended) The place is comfy. If you get chilly, pick a table not directly beside the doors. The staff is nice. Even in chilly weather, the place was filling up during "rush hour." I can only imagine how crowded this place gets in the summer. I rate this place a B. There is something for everyone. You can order decent Mexican food that isn't as great as Cancun Restaurant. (But we don't have to travel as far)

Established in 2007, this family-owned Mexican restaurant located at Westlake Corner in Hardy,…read moreVirginia (near Smith Mountain Lake) is a very popular spot for serving fresh authentic Mexican food in this area. It has a large menu including favorites like fajitas, burritos, seafood, and steaks, plus vegetarian options. It is also well known for its great cocktails, including margaritas, and a good beer selection. It offers the option of dining-in in one of its colorful dining rooms, at its full-bar with a large screen TV, or dining outdoors in its enclosed back patio seating area. You also have the option of ordering on-line or over the phone for pick-up, as well as ordering on the premises for take-out. It also offers catering for special events. After having been selected as number 4 of Yelp's Top 50 most prolific Elites of 2025, a year when I was also awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Photographer of the Year Award at their Yelpies 2025 Award Ceremony, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, and where last year I was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Yelper of the Year Award, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants, businesses, and important landmarks, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And Cancun Mexican Restaurant & Grill, located in the in Hardy, Virginia is a perfect example. I had the opportunity of dining at the restaurant for lunch last Wednesday when I was in the area. After arriving in my pearl white Lexus and parking in their parking lot the first thing that caught my attention was Carlos, their new Cancun rooster, a colorful statue that stood in front of the restaurant. The architectural design of its building with its restaurant's sign on a tower high above was also very impressive. As I entered the restaurant I was particularly surprised by its fun, festive, and colorful environment. The restaurant was very clean and decorated with some one-of-a-kind items that gave the place a very unique character. A gentleman whom later I found out was the manager gracefully greeted me and gave me a warm welcome to their restaurant. He then took me to my table. Shortly afterwards my server arrived with some chips and both red and white salsas. Only very exclusive Mexican restaurants serve the white salsa. He took my drink order of a large Virgin Mango Margarita. As he went to have it made I browsed through their extensive menu and saw some very unique items which I would like return another day to have for dinner. But since it was lunchtime I ordered their Quesadilla Rellena with shredded beef. They were served with pico de gallo and sour cream and I asked for Guacamole extra. While I waited for the food order to be made I enjoyed my delicious Virgin Mango Margarita which was amazing, while also having my chips and salsa. The Quesadilla arrived fresh and hot and filled cheese and a well seasoned shredded beef. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and the high-quality food served here. When I was finished eating my server brought me the bill without first asking me if I wanted dessert. Since it was late I decided to have it at the movie theater I was going later on. But next time I come for dinner I will definitely have their Mexican Fried Ice Cream. As I was leaving the manager showed me around the restaurant as well as the outside seating area in the back patio, and again thanked me for dining at their restaurant. In conclusion I highly recommend this Mexican restaurant for its exquisite, genuine Mexican cuisine, its amazing margaritas, its festive, welcoming, and relaxed environment, together with wonderful customer service.

We ordered the al pastor tacos with rice and beans, chicken tacos, asada tacos, and asada torta. The good stuff: service was friendly, the wait wasn't too long, and the portions were good (the torta was GIANT). The atmosphere outside would probably be nice at night (they have outdoor seating, tables, lights). The torta was the best thing we ordered, it was good! Unfortunately, all the meat we got was dry and unseasoned. In the torta it was masked by all the other ingredients, but all of the tacos are more simple, so the unseasoned meat couldn't be covered up. The pork on the al pastor was so dry and flavorless I couldn't force myself to take more than a couple bites. The rice and beans also tasted unseasoned and flavorless which was very disappointing. All of this wouldn't have been so disappointing if it wasn't extremely expensive (we are visiting from DC and even street tacos there are cheaper!).
