Went here with a group of about 20 people on a Friday night. The place was busy but we got seated pretty quickly. The service was ok. I asked for a Dr Pepper and when I got it, the taste was absolutely flat. I had to ask our server 2 or 3 times to get a different drink after I explained it. He said "yes, it is out@, which would have been nice to know when he dropped the drink off. Once the food showed up, some people were done while others hadn't gotten their dinner yet. My favorite foods are Mexican and pizza, and I have to say this food was average at best. I had burritos deluxe and the filling was lacking of any flavor. All I could taste was the sauce on top. When I cut into them, they just fell apart. You could tell the chips had been sitting out for a while, they were not fresh or half way warm. The white sauce they bring was fantastic though. All in all, not a great experience, but I would give it another shot based on other reviews. Maybe we just got them on a bad night?

I came on Clemson game day after the game and it was real busy. Had to wait 20 minutes or so before being seated which is completely fine. My food was just okay. I went with a carne asada with shrimp as well. The portions were really large but I've had better, notably at El Bronco. Not a bad experience, but I probably won't be back

Looking for a Tex Mex place after a long drive from PA and found this one right near our hotel. We had chips and salsa to start which they brought us a tasty red and a just a good white. I had fish tacos which come with two tacos and a side salad . I substituted rice for the salad . The wife had chicken fajitas which was a big serving with fajita breads . Our server was great and the restaurant was nice as well and not very crowed when we got there . Prices weren't that bad as the total was 36 bucks . It also haas a separate bar and tv's for sports. Didn't see alot of decor on the walls but was a nice place to eat. Would come back next time we travel though Christiansburg VA

First off, best chips and salsa/white sauce ever! Just had to get that out of the way. Now, I really don't see how anyone could give this place less than full marks. It's a really outstanding Mexican restaurant and I've loved everything I've gotten there. Good service, great atmosphere, seating, and parking, and good enough value. An all-star restaurant for this area. Maybe if you're used to super fancy places elsewhere it could be a letdown, but that seems like picking serious nits to me!! They are also able to easily accommodate large parties, and are super clean and modern. Top notch.

Extremely busy, but we only had to wait 10-15 minutes. Chips and both salsas were great. Our server, Brooke, was excellent!!! She went above and beyond and was friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive. From the time we ordered to when we received the food was super fast. Food was delicious. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be back when are back in the area next month!

Lupita was our very attentive server. The margaritas were so good. We were seated in a comfortable booth and our food arrived quickly which was plentiful and yummy.

I ordered food for pickup. It was ready before my expected pick up time. It was still hot by time I got back to my hotel. The flavors were great and the portion sizes were huge!

Met up with family for dinner here. The service was top notch, even with the whole place being packed. Chips and salsa and some type of cilantro lime dip were all delicious and kept us busy while waited for our food. Recommend the Queso Fundido as an appetizer to go with the chips. Best birria tacos I've had to date. Packed with flavor and extremely filling. Washed down with a couple Pacificos and lime. Love this place.

Lately, Ive been ordering take out from this location but stopped by this restaurant to dine in about 8pm on a Saturday night. Their menu is very extensive and there are many different price points available. Their decor is nice, with dark modern booths and tables. They also have a large bar area with tvs In the middle of the restaurant. This area can get very loud. I ordered steak fajitas for my dinner and they were DELICIOUS and cooked to perfection! The portion size was enough to save half for lunch the next day. My dinner partner had carnitas and commented on how delicious they were. The service that night was VERY underwhelming! I had a question about the rice that came with my plate and the waiter didn't know the answer and wouldn't ask anyone else. It was not a language barrier because I asked in both English and Spanish. Our waiter wouldn't make eye contact and would walk by, ask if we needed something without a stopping or looking towards our table. The staff was all fraternizing at the back part of the dining room with a team members family that came in to eat. At some point, the waitress taking care of the take next to ours started taking care of our table and got a to go box for me and brought us our check. I do enjoy their food a lot but will stick to take out from now on.

I rarely eat food after 9pm, but you make exceptions for places like this. My top-tier chum who…read moreliterally went to the school of hospitality (down the street at VA Tech!) and I came by here this past Tuesday night after a few other potential dinner spots fell through - the week after graduation is not the best for college town restaurant reliability. This was one of the few businesses with a kitchen still open, and had the distinction of being the only restaurant she'd actually been to when she was in college here over 20 years ago. Certainly a testament to the power of Mexican food and the young pups who will eat it any hour of the day and night. Unlike her last visit, El Rodeo apparently isn't as dark and divey as it used to be. A shame in my view, but it is what it is. The walls are painted a bright white, and if you didn't have the menus and margaritas roaming around, it could have hosted any genre of cuisine. There was an outdoor dining area that was pretty hopping but we opted for indoors and were immediately seated in a spacious booth with views of giant TVs showing a wild Cavs/Knicks playoff game. I wasn't obscenely hungry so I avoided eye contact with the burritos and instead went for a chicken/cheese quesadilla and a large glass of water. The quesadilla showed up within a few minutes and honestly really hit the spot. It was SUPER cheesy (in terms of flavor, not quantity, which I liked - I'm all about an ingredient equilibrium with my food), and I loved the crispness of the tortilla. The chicken was nicely shredded and seasoned, and it was generous portion to the point where I was only able to eat about half of it. The rest came back to the hotel with us to be consumed at a later time. The service was excellent. The turnaround time of the food was insanely quick, and the only noticeable delay was when our waiter understandably needed to attend to a wild 21st birthday celebration at a nearby table. Happy Birthday to her, and I hope the margaritas treated her well. College town restaurants kind of are what they are - it's not really the land of bougie gastropubs but rather affordable tasty shizzle that you might impulsively eat in the middle of the night. Solid recommend.

I got the Arroz Con Pollo, along with a Jumbo Pina Colada Margarita…read more This dish isn't a traditional Mexican dish - it's actually more Caribbean - but due to the massive demand for it in the South, it's a staple of menus here but not really found anywhere else in the US - that's why I had to make sure to get it while I was here as I hadn't had it before and I know this place is known for it This food was absolutely fantastic The dish came with a TON of grilled chicken pieces on rice, along with a lot of vegetables, and a cheese-like dip Starting with the chicken, it was really good, and as I mentioned, there was a lot of it it was also soft and not quite juicy - but definitely not overcooked/dry either. it was really satisfying to bite into it wasn't super well seasoned - but there was enough that it was detectable the rice itself was pretty nice and well-flavored. it wasn't anything too special but it served as a solid base for the rest of the toppings the vegetables were pretty fantastic - and served as a great complement to the chicken. I was especially a big fan of the grilled onions and the peppers, as these were cooked really well. however, the tomatoes weren't great. charging extra for these was a little strange, but I didn't mind it what really brings the dish overall together and takes it to another level is the cheese dip that mixes throughout everything if this was too cheesy - it would ruin the entire dish by making it practically inedible if it didn't have a strong flavor, the entire dish would basically feel plain however, this was just perfect. It had a hint of cheese, but most surprisingly, it had a bunch of other flavors in there too that created a sauce that coated every part of the dish and significantly increased the flavor of everything it touched this resulted in the overall meal having a comforting, deep flavor profile that was really, really good The margarita was also decent - it was super sugary and you couldn't taste the alcohol that much, but it was enjoyable to drink For the price, this was a pretty great deal. When adding the vegetables onto the ACP, it came out to around 15 dollars, and this was a really nice portion size given that price. The jumbo margarita was also a really large drink for around 9 dollars

I received a…read moreserving of chips and salsa up front, and decided to compliment them with a horchata that I did not need, but which immediately convinced me that this place uses some proper ingredients based on its slightly bubblegum-like taste that is distinctive to the region. My pupusas came with an excellent set of accompaniments and were bursting with flavor. The cheese was a bit on the salty side, but the beans were delicious, and the distinctive mix of textures you get when you combine a freshly grilled pupusa with the lightly fermented cabbage distinctive to the cuisine is excellent. There were some herbal notes in there, and the salsa was brightly flavored. It really is a fascinating mix of flavors distinctive to the Americas. Also a lot of food for the money. While the menu had a handful of vegetarian options, some of their staples were not offered this way and it seemed to be they could be with ease. And I would really like to see them do some dairy-free options and those beans and some vegetables would make a pupusa that I think people would want.

Cute unassuming spot off of West Main St, I was greeted warmly by the hostess. The service was quick and soon I found myself staring down Al pastor tacos. We ordered the sweet plantains and al pastor tacos and the pork gorditas. Everything was generously stuffed with meat! The plantains we soft and sweet though a few were slightly burnt but overall they were a treat. The corn tortillas didn't hold up to the generous portion of meat in the Al pastor tacos but the flavors were there. My only complaint is that there isn't a good spicy red or green salsa to pour on top, but this is a Salvadoran place so I'm sure that's more the specialty. The gorditas were fat and satisfying. All in all, this is a gem of a place for Radford and if you feel like it would be a little new for you, take the plunge! It's a must try.
