White Sauce & Salsa
Ali C.

Not far from Radford campus, easy parking. Food and atmosphere is good. Free chips, salsa & white sauce. Good beer & margarita selection. Typical Mexican restaurant menu with combination plates and all the usuals. Decent prices too. Enjoy!

Shrimp Taco salad

Don't get a steak taco salad here. Second time having this and the first time I didn't even eat it, but this time I ate the shell. The manager told me to ask for less beans because it's what makes it soupy, so I did.

This is not going to happen to everyone but it's worth knowing if you care about other people. Or dogs. I have a disability. I have epilepsy and I have a signal dog that gives me a heads up when I'm possibly going to have a seizure. Long story short I was refused service tonight because of my JackRussell Terrior. Ruby was doing her job as she was trained to do and not bothering anyone. The manager asked me to provide "documents" to prove my disability. I could not comply because I don't carry medical records around with me and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) doesn't allow businesses to demand documents, ID cards, or vests. Before the ADA, seeing eye dogs wore vests but docs haven't been required for Service Animals for 10+ years. [The following was all done very politely. No one made a fuss or caused a scene. I doubt if anyone else even noticed.] When the manager came over to talk to us about my dog, he brought his phone to show me something that said, "Myth: Restaurants and businesses that sell or deal with food can legally deny access to a service dog team." I pointed out that the first word in that sentence was "myth" but he interpreted this to mean the opposite of what it said. Well, after a chuckle, I showed him an explanation of the ADA from the American Epilepsy Association. After reading this he consulted with his waitress who claimed to have a service animal for a psychological condition. She said I needed to show an ID card. In fact, the waitress was mistaken because she has a "support dog" which is not the same as a Service Animal and not covered by the ADA. But the manager believed his waitress with emotional issues rather than the American Epilepsy Association. So, he asked us to leave. I was humiliated and hungry but I didn't want to cause a commotion so we left and went to another restaurant. The end.

I traveled here for a week visit for work. I honestly did not expect much because its Blacksburg. It was cute on the outside and inside. Like I was actually surprised it was nice. Food was super fast and the guac was so good. They also had this sauce that comes with the chips, that I have never heard or seen before. Its white and its ranch and sugar. I know that sounds super gross and it is odd but it was good! They were accomadating!

Great experience. Very good service and food. We order tacos de carne, t bone and grill quesadilla. The chips and salsa taste very good. Place is clean and neat. Will definitely come back.

The place has a hole in the wall vibe and was not busy on the evening I stopped by. I received a…read moreserving of chips and salsa up front, and decided to compliment them with a horchata that I did not need, but which immediately convinced me that this place uses some proper ingredients based on its slightly bubblegum-like taste that is distinctive to the region. My pupusas came with an excellent set of accompaniments and were bursting with flavor. The cheese was a bit on the salty side, but the beans were delicious, and the distinctive mix of textures you get when you combine a freshly grilled pupusa with the lightly fermented cabbage distinctive to the cuisine is excellent. There were some herbal notes in there, and the salsa was brightly flavored. It really is a fascinating mix of flavors distinctive to the Americas. Also a lot of food for the money. While the menu had a handful of vegetarian options, some of their staples were not offered this way and it seemed to be they could be with ease. And I would really like to see them do some dairy-free options and those beans and some vegetables would make a pupusa that I think people would want.

Run don't walk, Radford!! Compared to what I have eaten here in Radford during my previous stays,…read morethis is a godsend! Authentic homemade flavors served with smiles! Cute unassuming spot off of West Main St, I was greeted warmly by the hostess. The service was quick and soon I found myself staring down Al pastor tacos. We ordered the sweet plantains and al pastor tacos and the pork gorditas. Everything was generously stuffed with meat! The plantains we soft and sweet though a few were slightly burnt but overall they were a treat. The corn tortillas didn't hold up to the generous portion of meat in the Al pastor tacos but the flavors were there. My only complaint is that there isn't a good spicy red or green salsa to pour on top, but this is a Salvadoran place so I'm sure that's more the specialty. The gorditas were fat and satisfying. All in all, this is a gem of a place for Radford and if you feel like it would be a little new for you, take the plunge! It's a must try.
