I been here over the years when I used to work in Rego Park and I used to grab food here all the time, I went ago yesterday and it's still pretty awesome. The food: Chicken Fajita- I think this is my fav item, I think the chicken is cooked nicely and the onions and peppers are cooked till nicely soft. I think everything with their salsa added on top really works nicely. Quesadilla with Jack Cheese, Chicken and Steak Supreme- This could have been number one but I was not a fan of how soggy the bottom got. Overall, really delicious from the chicken to the cheese to the sour cream. This is a must order. Shrimp Fajitas- I would get this all the time but these are close to $4 each. The onions and peppers are cooked perfectly and really go well with the shrimp. This is a must but the the price is an issue for me. Chicken Hard Shell Taco- This was better than I expected but the hard taco does lose some of it's crunch during transport. Overall, a good hard taco. read more

This is your standard Tex-Mex place run by Chinese owners. Like any of these spots, their menu consists of hard or soft shell tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, tostada salads, and meat with rice. I found their food to be very fresh and very filling. For only $7 to $8, you can stuff yourself. Very good for the price you pay. These are one of the cheapest Tex mex places I've come across. Although the food isn't absolutely amazing, but it's decent (and you honestly get what you pay for). I always order the chicken and Tex mex chili combo (around 7 bucks) - and all the food is served in a lunch box style, the rice, beans, salad, soft taco altogether and not separated. They re-opened a while ago. Only for take-out and delivery though--they don't allow indoor dining. They take delivery orders on Yelp through their older name ("Fresh Soft Taco"). The food's the same. I love the tacos here. They're so nice and affordable. The chili tacos are the best, but I also like to get the steak and chicken fajitas from time to time. I don't like eating onions, so if I request that they take the onions out of their fajitas, they'll accomodate me. Forget the fact that they're actually run by Chinese owners and that the only effort toward ethnic authenticity in this place are the two sombreros and the painting of a flamenco dancer hanging on the wall. You don't come here for cultural studies; you come when you want fast, cheap food. I've never waited more than five minutes for my order, and that's even with the time it takes to grind out the flour tortillas, which are made fresh to order. The menu seems to cover all of the appropriate Mexican food cravings - tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, over-rice dishes, and tostada salads. Special combo meals, which start at around $7, include at least one protein, 2 fresh tortillas, rice, your choice of beans, lettuce, tomato, salsa, and sour cream. During my last visit, I ordered the mixed vegetable combo and found it fine for a meal, if a little bland. The 'vegetable mix' was a slightly over-steamed and under-salted variety of broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and mushrooms, but with the addition of salsa and seasoned yellow rice, it was more than decent. My meat-eating fiancé found his entrees far more interesting, so it would seem that the vegetarian options (which are denoted on the menu with a red star) have almost been added as an afterthought. The menu also boasts soft tacos that are made in-house, for whatever that's worth. I've tried many tex-mex places in my lifetime and this one is pretty solid. Their burritos and combo specials are all quite good. I most recently ordered the steak combination, which comes with rice, sliced steak, black beans, lettuce, tomatoes, and two grilled flour tortillas. Their food is tasty without being over salted. The steak was actually pretty tender, unlike the steak at some other take-out places that I've tried. The portions are just enough to leave me content without giving me that crazy itis that makes me want to pass out. The place seems fairly clean and even has a big screen TV, which is the first I've seen in any take-out joint. Their service is friendly and prompt, also a plus. I believe this place was formerly known as Fresh Soft Tacos, as there is another listing on yelp with the same address. Now it's called Taco Place (not Palace). I have never had worse Mexican food in my life I'm pretty positive this isn't made by anyone Mexican because I've never tasted anything that came from Mexico that was so BLAND. Boyfriend ordered a quesadilla sincronizada for $5. It is literally two little taco tortillas with minimal cheese and then meat. All the tacos we ordered barely came with cheese. We even pulled out a cheese grater and some cubed cheese to add some flavor. I won't be ordering from here again. Waste of money, ended up pulling out crackers to have crackers and cheese for dinner. I took advantage of the "good" weather....Went to Marshalls in Queens Boulevard..and browsed thru the racks....nice sale going on there...got myself a black jacket and 3 nice shitrs. and a Pizza bakewear.. ..must have been there for quite sometime..didn't notice the time..until my hunger pangs began to bother me.,...Opps..2:30 pm ...time for some chow... You really can't go wrong with this place. Typical Tex-Mex Chinese restaurant that I've been coming to for years: a great Rego Park stalwart over the past 20 years or so. I can't speak of the delivery since I only live a couple of blocks away, but the food is very consistent. You know what you're getting when you order. I love that you can still get a decent meal for under $4 (rice and chicken). I'm a big fan of the steak-and-chicken burrito, and I also like the tacos. Fajitas are on call if I'm looking more for the soft taco feel. Nachos are good too, but like any other cheese-based food, you should eat it right away before it gets cold. The one huge knock on this place for those who come in to order: not the friendliest staff. I think I'm being kind here. They look at their customers with disdain, and they really want you out as soon as you order. I don't think it's coincidence that you have a place that makes good food, but nearly all empty tables. I love this place. It's run like a mom-pop store. It's always risky when it comes to Mexican food due to freshness of food, but I can vouch that everything here is moderately fresh tasting. Whenever I come here I get the classic Chili Taco (Ground Beef) with a side of guacamole. They give you chili and sour cream on the side for free usually if you ask for it. Once you get past thinking that you're going to find authentic Mexican food in these places, you'll be fine. I have to say, I have always enjoyed Tex-Mex and this place is a fine example of what it's all about. If you have a chance to stop in, your food will be ready in about a minute and a half in most cases, so if you're really hungry and don' t feel like waiting long for food, try this place. I really enjoy the platters that include chicken/beef, rice, a choice of beans, guacamole, sour cream, salsa ranchera, 2 flour tortillas and a can of soda. You can get all of that for under six bucks and everything tastes really fresh. Sometimes the tomatoes are not as ripe as I would like them to be, but I don't really go there for the tomatoes. I've lived here for about 20 years and this is my favorite takeout. The place surprises you because it doesn't look like much but the food is fantastic. Good burritos, absolutely huge. The highlight is the Pork Chop combination and the quesadilla's, steak or chicken. Combine with the sour cream and it's absolutely delicious! For something quick, simple, cheap that's actually good it's my favorite place. This is probably the best Tex Mex around here. Taco King and Express Soft Taco isn't up to par with Taco Place. I don't know if their food is authentic Mexican food. What I do know is that if you want shareable delicious portions at a cheap price, look no further. I ordered their burritos a couple of times and find them to be quite filling and delicious. Most places are cheap with meat portions, but not Taco Place. I also had their black bean taco and found the black beans creamy and tasty. The Tostada Salads are very crispy. If you order by phone and come pick it up, the chef won't put the fillings inside until you are ready to pick up your food. He does this so that the filling doesn't make the crispy shell soggy while you are on your way to pick up the food. Place is clean and is more suited for take out than dine in. Finding parking nearby can be a challenge. -1 star because they are so cheap when giving salsa and sour cream. Tostada salads come with thousand island dressing, which isn't a great complement. read more

This place is ok!! To begin with this area lacks food variety. I think the only other "mexican" food is about 15-20 blocks away (don't hold me to that figure!) The fajitas are good but thats because I love peppers and onions but the chicken is ok, the rice in the combination platter is meh!! (rice cooker rice) the beans are meh although I personally like their black over their pinto and the tex-mex chili has flavor. Overall if you go here bring cash, you cant go wrong with the tacos; but if your hungry and on a budget then the combination platter is your best bet.
