This is your standard Tex-Mex place run by Chinese owners. Like any of these spots, their menu consists of hard or soft shell tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, tostada salads, and meat with rice. I found their food to be very fresh and very filling. For only $7 to $8, you can stuff yourself. The best deal is their combination plate, which comes with your choice of meat, rice and beans, vegetables, and two tortillas. Not for those looking for real Mexican food obviously.

They re-opened a while ago. Only for take-out and delivery though--they don't allow indoor dining. They take delivery orders on Yelp through their older name ("Fresh Soft Taco"). The food's the same. They have a large plastic screen at their counter separating employees from customers. There's a sign with a Wi-Fi name/password.

*please read my previous review now since this is an update* Last night i pulled an all-nighter and was hungry as hell. I was so tempted to lurk in the middle of the night to MIA Halal Food on Junction Boulevard for a lamb over rice plate. But then I realized i didn't really want that type of spice and decided to be a good boy. As for today, I was a bad boy.....*WOOF~!!!* I woke up this morning and the first thing on my mind was *TASTY~~~.* I was in the mood for Mexican, but didn't feel like driving to Jackson Heights and dealing with the parking situation or the insane gas prices involved with that type of mission. Since the weather was nice, I strolled over to Fresh Soft Tacos... This is my plate: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/fQw2GlDqPgAZYn948BAxiw?select=3MJcwEGj8V0n7c6F_c3-9A 1) damage: $5.75 after tax 2) C2 combination: with only chili. I'm not feeling chicken these days unless it's fried 3) no lettuce: not feeling shredded lettuce these days 4) two tortillas are provided 5) no soda: I don't drink soda much. I asked the lady to give me more sauce instead. Usually you get 1 sour cream and 1 mild sauce. She gave me 3 sour cream and 2 mild sauces (I'm Chinese and need sauce for my rice!) 6) red beans: first time trying it and i think i prefer the black beans instead. I wish i knew which types of beans both are though... DISCLAIMER: I am not a bean-toligst! Summary: Previously i gave them 4 stars and I think overall they are. But once you try the different items and learn how to customize your lunch special to your individual taste, the rating is 5 star caliber for sure. The items here are fresh and of higher quality than Taco Bell. For the amount of food you get, it's a better value too. Trust me as my arm was cramping up while i lugged the huge box of food home. I hereby declare a.....*VALUE ALERT~!!!*

    Mixed vegetable combo

A man (or woman, for that matter) is nothing without their dependable neighborhood takeout place but when I want something different than the usual Chinese food, this casual, unpretentious Tex-Mex place fits the bill. Forget the fact that they're actually run by Chinese owners and that the only effort toward ethnic authenticity in this place are the two sombreros and the painting of a flamenco dancer hanging on the wall. You don't come here for cultural studies; you come when you want fast, cheap food. I've never waited more than five minutes for my order, and that's even with the time it takes to grind out the flour tortillas, which are made fresh to order. The menu seems to cover all of the appropriate Mexican food cravings - tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, over-rice dishes, and tostada salads. Special combo meals, which start at around $7, include at least one protein, 2 fresh tortillas, rice, your choice of beans, lettuce, tomato, salsa, and sour cream. During my last visit, I ordered the mixed vegetable combo and found it fine for a meal, if a little bland. The 'vegetable mix' was a slightly over-steamed and under-salted variety of broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and mushrooms, but with the addition of salsa and seasoned yellow rice, it was more than decent. My meat-eating fiancé found his entrees far more interesting, so it would seem that the vegetarian options (which are denoted on the menu with a red star) have almost been added as an afterthought. Still, we've been more than happy with the prices and the speed with which the food comes out. Another surprising perk is the television mounted in the eatery, so that dining in amongst the humble and faux Mexican décor doesn't seem nearly as unthinkable a prospect.

    Steak Combo

Did you know?... that Mexican food is the most popular ethnic cuisine in the United States? I didn't either but this fact is boldly printed on the front of Taco Place's paper menu. The menu also boasts soft tacos that are made in-house, for whatever that's worth. I've tried many tex-mex places in my lifetime and this one is pretty solid. Their burritos and combo specials are all quite good. I most recently ordered the steak combination, which comes with rice, sliced steak, black beans, lettuce, tomatoes, and two grilled flour tortillas. Their food is tasty without being over salted. The steak was actually pretty tender, unlike the steak at some other take-out places that I've tried. The portions are just enough to leave me content without giving me that crazy itis that makes me want to pass out. The place seems fairly clean and even has a big screen TV, which is the first I've seen in any take-out joint. Their service is friendly and prompt, also a plus. I believe this place was formerly known as Fresh Soft Tacos, as there is another listing on yelp with the same address. Now it's called Taco Place (not Palace). In an area replete with take-out options and restaurants, these guys are definitely a go-to for a quick and delicious bite.

It's one of those places that feels familiar in the best way. Comfort food that never really lets you down. I love how much they've grown and evolved over the years. They've done so much with this place, but it still gives you that real, good-deal Tex-Mex feel. The menu has expanded a lot and now includes more trending and popular items, which makes it great because there's truly a little something for everybody. Still, my go-to favorites never change: the taco salad bowl in that crunchy, delicious tostada shell, the chicken tacos, the steak tacos, and every now and then the shrimp tacos if I'm feeling fancy. I always ask for extra sour cream and salsa. Speaking of salsa, the recipe has definitely changed over the years. It's gotten a bit spicier. While it's still really good, I'll admit that as I've gotten older, I can't handle the heat quite like I used to. That said, it's still part of the experience and adds to the bold flavor Yummy Taco is known for. Yummy Taco is one of those places that grows with you. It's nostalgic, filling, affordable, and consistently delicious. Definitely a staple if you love solid Tex-Mex with plenty of options and personality.

The Chili Taco was good but be cautious if ordering for take out because it is very very messy. It was leaking all over the place as I was unwrapping it from the foil. Quick delivery at least It's one thing to do bland tasteless Mexican food that's not authentic, but another to throw together some items and pretend it's Mexican. Their burritos? Yeah, more like a huge giant taco that you can't even hold or eat without everything spilling out. If I wanted a taco, I could have gotten an actual small taco with less stuff. It wasn't even rolled. It was folded in half. I was shocked when I opened it up. Chicken burrito -- very salty, overcooked chicken. Kind of looked like roast pork. Chili burrito -- could not even eat because getting it out of the foil would wreck it and be a huge mess. *All the burrito "fixings" like sour cream, lettuce, tomato and guacamole were on the side, as opposed to rolled in the burrito. If they just put in less meat/rice, everything would have fit in the burrito. *As other Yelpers have said, the guac was runny. tasteless, like it was mashed with water instead of lime juice. And it wasn't even green by the time it got to me, was a slightly brown green. French fries -- crispy but very greasy bites, instead of a crunchy potato texture. Like they used old oil over and over? Crispy chicken sandwich -- probably the best thing. Very crispy patty. Definitely would not order again. I don't care if something is necessarily authentic when I need a quick bite, but it should not be completely, messy slop.
