I'm going to rate this spot based off the food taste and the service. It was pretty delicious and the cashier was excellent! The hubs and I left the VA at 230am. Needed food as we had been there since 5pm. Exhausted and starving we remembered this place was open 24/7. We arrived... ordered our food... and sat down. As soon as I saw this out the corner of my eye, I immediately got off the exit and parked here cause I needed my Taco Palenque fix. It was Tuesday in late April and they have Taco Tuesday specials which I decided to take advantage of. The taco tuesday items include the casero taco, a pollo asado taco, and the al pastor quesadilla. I ordered the latter two items along with a breakfast taco (chorizo, egg, cheese) and got my food after about 10 minutes later and got back to my hotel to unwind and eat. Upon eating my first bite of the breakfast taco, my mind went to a state of euphoria as I remember how good these things were. I slathered it with the avocado salsa from the salsa bar and scarfed it down before finishing the pollo asado taco and the al pastor quesadilla. The taco had seasoned tender chicken in a warm tortilla and tasted great. The al pastor quesadilla also had great taste but quesadilla was a bit hard; maybe I should've eaten that first? As with any taco palenque, you can do drive-thru, order inside, or order through the app and pick up. I tried to use the app to order for this place but unfortunately they wouldn't accept my payment. Found out there was a bug in the app. But I was only a few minutes away from the place so figured might as well drive here and place the order myself. We need more of these in the Houston area cause everyone craves some of that Palenque! read more

I have been a loyal customer of your establishment for quite some time, regularly visiting this exact location about twice a week and consistently spending over $150 per visit with my family. I almost always order the same meal, and I have always appreciated the quality and service provided. However, during my visit tonight, I experienced a disappointing situation that I feel compelled to bring to your attention. There was an issue with my meal, which originally cost $15. When i raised the problem with the staff, I anticipated a reasonable and understanding response. Instead, after the matter was escalated to management, management asked the staff on the line and they were unsure of their previous actions with my meal and shrugged. Then i was told that I was being charged an additional $9, When I voiced my concerns to the manager on duty, hoping for some consideration or a thorough review of the complaint, I was met with dismissal. The manager refused to inspect the meal or acknowledge the severity of the issue and insisted that charging an additional fee was standard practice. This response felt not only unfair but also highly unprofessional and DISMISSIVE! This experience has left me feeling undervalued as a customer and has significantly diminished my trust in your establishment. What was once a favored dining destination for my family and me has now become somewhere I am reluctant to return, and I feel it necessary to share this experience with others far and wide. Used to love taco Palenque the taste is very authentic and the food was very well served so the price was worth it because it's not a cheap price per say. Lately the tacos have been served so poorly. Ive been coming to Taco Palenque for 3 years, since its next to my house. Everytime is a let down. Almost all the time the employees are rude and act like im an inconvenience to them. The food is sloppy and thrown together. Each year this location gets worse. Ive came to this restaurant a few weeks ago and there was two homeless people next to the front door genuinely ACTUALLY smoking crack c*****e and trying to sell cigarettes to guests. The employees did nothing. The facility is always dirty. The salsa bar is ran thru. And they dont bother to refill it. TP is supposed to be 24 hour dine in but for some reason location says f**k it and its a gamble whether there dine is open over night. It would be one star but the franchise its self is one of my favorites but this location deserves 1 star. read more

My husband and I got food poisoning from their food Thursday night. I just called to ask to speak to the manager and he was very unprofessional. He didn't make the situation right and transferred me to another employee to "take my order." My friend hyped this place up so much that once I went, I was just a tad bit disappointed. It is OK, Mexican food. It is fast food kind of like taco cabana. Maybe it was what I ordered. I got the ponchos and my friend got fideo and fajita taco. The best part of this restaurant is their chip and salsa bar. The salsa bar is legit. They have different types of salsa and jalapeños. The chips are good as well. The nachos (ponchos)were not that great. I wanted just bean and cheese nachos, but I believe I paid for the fajita nachos so they just removed the fajita. It was just chips with small amount of beans and the liquid queso. My friends fideo was good. She did end up eating two tacos out of the one taco. So at least they are not skimpy with their fillings. We did order margaritas. I would stick with the canned or bottled beer. Parking is available on site. There's plenty of seating inside. I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy the food I had delivered from Taco Palenque. The crispy tacos were actually crispy and had good flavor. The red salsa is actually spicy, which is rare. This is one of regular places to go whenever I crave a breakfast taco or two. I gotta admit, I don't eat breakfast tacos often, but Taco Palenque offers very good quality at a value price. Taco portions are usually consistent, generously portioned.... No skimpy over priced tacos here. The tortillas are homemade and exactly how I prefer, not too thick. I usually request my tortillas to be well done or extra crispy for enhanced flavor. Plus Taco Palenque is one of the few places I will order a Chorizo & Egg taco, never overly greasy, perfectly prepared. I'm not a fan of breakfast taco dripping with grease...Yuck!! Also, the Bean & Cheese tacos here are definitely one of the best in San Antonio, in my opinion. The Salsa Bar is an added feature that differentiates Taco Palenque from other similar restaurants. It's always fresh, well maintained & offers a great variety. Finally, the restaurant offers a good vibe, usually clean whenever I've visited. The Latin music from the speakers adds to the ambiance. The restaurant staff is friendly, strives for great customer service. Thank you for the pleasant breakfast taco experiences!! I love Taco Palenque- but just wanted to save someone some money!! Don't waste your money on their "queso". It's not what it used to be- they are straight up serving Rico's fake cheese sauce. It was so bad. I still wanted to eat some so I doctored it up with jalapeños and pico de gallo. Taco Palenque does late night tacos right! My fiancé and I decided to order takeout late last night and were surprised by just how fantastic these tacos were! There are tons of TexMex places in SA, but this is easily our new favorite grab-and-go chain restaurant for tacos. We ordered four Street Sirloin Tacos, two Casero Tacos, and Chips and Queso. Our meal also came with additional Flour Tortillas, (refried) Beans, and Charro Beans. The premium sirloin steak in both the Street and Casero Tacos was packed FULL of flavor. I normally like my meats lean but I really did enjoy the little bit of fat this time around; the juicy texture wasn't overwhelming and held the spices well. It was so good in fact that I ended up leaving off the extra cilantro, guacamole, and salsa on my Street Tacos and eating them as is. I opted for corn tortillas for my tacos and they were phenomenal. My fiancé chose flour tortillas for his Casero Tacos and they were pretty good as well, but I've always been more of a corn tortilla fan to begin with. The rice and beans in his tacos were cooked and seasoned just right, and I know that next time for sure I will order some of my own. The Chips and Queso were phenomenal. The queso was super thick from the cheese and surprisingly rich, and the chips had a powerful crunch that we could not get enough of. The additional Flour Tortillas and refried Beans were the same as in the Casero Tacos so I didn't have to steal too many bites from my fiancés tacos, and the Charro Beans had a soup like consistency with powerful flavor. There was so much food we ended up with considerable leftovers which were devoured by midafternoon today. I will add for those like me with sensitive tummies, everything was a little extra oily but nothing some antacids couldn't fix. We will most definitely return to try more off the menu, but we really enjoyed our first meal with Taco Palenque. Give it a try! read more

But today I ordered beef fajita tacos and quesadillas and the beef fajita tacos were really good. I had them on corn tortillas. The bag they came in says "best fajitas"-not sure who says that but I agree. The beef fajitas had that slight char from a well worn flame grill. I added cheese and pico and it was great. If I was catering a party definitely would go to Palenque for the beef fajitas if nothing else. The quesadilla was good but I would have appreciated better quality cheese, less oily and more creamy, maybe quesos mesclada to include asadero. Whole Foods has a "Mexican blend" grated cheese, for example, that fits the bill. The flour tortillas a guilty pleasure but I prefer more fluffy and less fat saturated as these were. You know the tacos are good when you don't even need to add salsa not lime! The tacos here are a bit pricey but I think it's worth getting taco palenque food once in awhile (: I don't know if it's cause I was super hungry or what but both the tacos and fideo were extremely good. What a surprise! I don't know if Taco Palenque is new in San Antonio, or if this is just a new location, but I would definitely visit again. I'll preface with I don't visit Mexican restaurants very often because 1) they're all pretty much the same, 2) I can make it better at home, and 3) my mom trumps all. Food: I think it's WAY better than the tired Mexican food chains in SA, but it's also priced a tad bit higher than chain Mexican joints.. Big portions. Great taste. After you order, they bring the food to you at the table. They have a salsa bar so you can decorate your meal however you'd like. They also have $5 margaritas (I'd highly recommend the chamoy mango margarita!) Facilities: It's very bright and very clean. I think the employees have to keep the location clean because the lights are so bright that you'd be able to see any spec of dirt from 50 feet away. Well I have been in the hospital for three months then basically home bound in the last four. None the less still gotta eat. I have ordered from this restaurant 4 times. The food is beyond tasty. The food arrives packaged neatly and thoroughly no leaks or mess. The food has always been hot and tastes fresh. I have used delivery services needless to say that adds to the cost ...so the food has to be good in order to spend the extra. I do admit that the food is quite pricey. My son likes it but doesn't eat they're often due to the prices. Can eat a combo taco plate and still be hungry and that's usually fifteen w/o additionally delivery and tip cost. As for me I wait until I have a really good deal from Uber or door dash before I order due to the high prices. Would probably order more if not for the prices unable to cook for.self as of yet. At the window to pay I confirmed again that the tacos would have egg on them and was told yes. Literally the only thing on this fajita taco is chicken in a tortilla.
