Had a great first experience at Blanco café. We came at 11 am and only waited a little bit but it was already busy. Plan accordingly and be patient in the parking lot. Service was fast and food came out promptly. I got the cheese enchiladas with a chalupa. I absolutely loved the enchiladas and enjoyed everything else. Everyone in my group inhaled their food and had 0 complaints. Tortillas were fresh, delicious and plenty. Food is definitely on the heavy side so come hungry and be ready to crash afterwards. It's 1 o'clock on a weekday afternoon and they are out of the chicken caldo so I got chicken tortilla soup. It was good, just enough cheese with thinly sliced tortilla strips and lots of chicken. Although the caldo is a more generous serving. Still it was good. read more

The wait to be seated was a little long. There's a sign that says "short staffed", so I was patient. The food came out quickly after I ordered. It was basically good. The menu prices must have recently changed because the pictures of the menu from 2 months ago are lower than the actual current prices. Had their steak fajita taco and I thought the meat was seasoned well. I had it to go so it was still pretty fresh and tasty when I brought it back. The portion size of the tacos are pretty good and I usually can eat one or two for lunch. The tortillas are soft but a little thick. After finishing up an appointment earlier than expected, I had some to kill before heading to work. I stopped here to get some breakfast tacos. I don't believe I had visited this location before. The parking lot was semi full which I thought was a good sign. I entered the building and a gentleman said I could sit anywhere. I found a table easily due to their large dining room. Place seemed about half full with patrons. My waitress dropped by with the menu, and to take my drink order. I opted for the carne guisada and barbacoa taco. My food arrived soon after along with a bowl of hot sauce. The carne guisada taco had several large pieces of meat, which were tender. However, the gravy was bland. The hot sauce was added but didn't bring much heat. The barbacoa taco was served with cilantro and onion. However, I found it to be bland as well. The tortillas were pretty good. After paying my bill, I left to head to work. Not sure if I will come back to this location unless it is for enchiladas. read more

I have been eating here forever. There is a reason why they are always one of the top spots of Tex-Mex style enchiladas. When I was ask what I wanted to drink, I told her, I just wanted water with 3 lemons, I was told my limit was Only 1 lemon, and I if wanted more, they would charge me 4 for $1.29. Ok, I will buy the extra lemons. So then my husband and I gave our ordered to the waitress, which I wanted chicken enchiladas and my husband wanted the beef enchiladas. When we got our food, the plates had a little bit of chicken on top of the enchiladas and little bit of beef on his, so we would get the right plates. Well, when I cut my chicken enchiladas, I had the beef and my husband had my chicken enchiladas! I was so mad! I tasted the chicken enchiladas and they were nasty. He said he will eat them. Other thing I noticed, we asked don't you all serve chips and salsa while we are waiting for your food? Yes we can, but we will charge you $5.00 for them. I was so upset, with everything. A friend wanted to take me here as I had never been before. He couldn't believe that I had never been here before after living in SA for so long. He also wanted to beat the lunch crowd, so we did an early (11:00 A.M.) lunch. Driving up, the lunch crowd had already started. We were fortunate enough to get one of the last parking spaces. We walked in and got in the check in line. We got in a conversation with a couple of ladies in front of us. When they found out that I was a newbie, they let me know I was in for a pleasant surprise. When we got to our table, our waitress was quick with the menu. I quickly settled on the #2 special that included 2 cheese enchiladas and a taco. Food was delivered quickly, but they never brought any chips. Otherwise everything else was near perfect. Food was hot, tasty, and hit the spot. Price wasn't bad either:-) Will I return? Hmmmm. I only give negative reviews to help the business. My third time here and still not impressed. Food has no flavor. Price!!! SMH... $12.99 for a plate of cheese enchiladas is ridiculous. Have been regularly visiting Blanco Cafe on Fredericksburg this past week & have enjoyed every meal ordered. Today Thursday 12/11/25@1:09pm was difficult finding a parking spot as the place was packed. See lot pic & interior pic as the large dining room area was packed too. Seated quickly & I ordered so far my favorite chicken enchiladas verde with fideo rather than rice with corn tortillas which was absolutely a fabulous meal. Corn tortillas were house made thick and deliciously sweet. Their shredded chicken is spiced perfectly whether in the tacos or enchiladas & highly recommend. Wished they had an option to order their red salsa only instead of having to order chips & salsa for $3.99. Absolutely love their red salsa with a little heat but not near as fiery hot as their green salsa that's complimentary. Regardless I've been enjoying every meal ordered this past week & look forward to trying more delicious dishes from this delightful establishment. I have ventured to the Blanco Cafe on blanco which is a much smaller dining room & parking is rather limited but enjoyed their (3) enchiladas plate with beef, chicken & cheese listed on their menu. Since comparing the two restaurants, I still enjoy the Fredricksburg or medical center location best being closer to my location & their food has been delicious every time even though their pricing is a bit higher. It's funny when u go visit the Fredricksburg website their menu prices are old & outdated being confirmed with the restaurant staff which is a bit misleading likely wanting to capture customers before customers realize the meal portions have diminished (plates used to have 3 enchiladas now only 2 enchiladas at a higher price) O well... as long as the meals are as good as they have been I'll still revisit for their yummy dishes. recommend people visit other locations so when I arrive at Fredricksburg Blanco Cafe I won't have to struggle with parking & getting an available table inside. ;) Thank you Blanco Cafe Medical Center for providing delicious Mexican food! read more

Parking was the biggest and only problem. It seems limited to the spaces in front with warnings at every nearby empty space. We came at 1 pm expecting to miss the lunch rush but ahead of those workers starting their luchtime at 1. There were no spaces but after we turned around in the next door bank lot, one place opened up and we grabbed it. Inside was almost full yet we were immediately seated, given waters, coffee and menus. The menu was extensive but prices were mostly in the $11 - 16 range. Our order was taken after just a few minutes, the 2nd time our server asked since the first time she asked we hadn't had time to decide. Everything looked good and all prices were reasonable. I had the fajita plate and my wife ordered the cheese enchiladas and fajita combo. Both less than $15. The flour tortillas are made fresh daily and among the best we've ever eaten. The fajita meat had absolutely great taste, though we've had fajita meat more tender (Chuy's). Our server was the best we can ever remember. From the other side of the restaurant she saw us close our menus and came immediately to get our order. She inqured a couple of times if all was good and if we might need anything. Again, from across the room, she saw me begin to look for her and motioned, asking if we needed a to-go container (yes) and brought it. This cafe was recommended by the nurses at the nearby VA hospital and, since they eat lunch regularly in this area, we were disappointed in no way. read more

My husband and I together with my friend came here today during lunch and the place was packed . We ordered some breakfast tacos ( they serve breakfast all day ) and I also ordered their beef nachos . All of them were so authentic and flavorful . My hubby ordered the beef enchilada plate . Been going here for years, owner is a member of the family of the first blanco cafe, and has the same great food. I have never had a meal that was not great here. Menudo is the best around as is their Valdosta. The staple cheese enchiladas are the best in San Antonio. Get here early h Fb or lunch or expect to wait as there is always a line. Service is fast and they get you in and out as quick as possible. Food is always hot and flour tortillas are homemade and round out a perfect meal. Hot sauce is the best tasting sauce you can find complimenting your meal. I could go on and on, because it is that good. This location on Fredericksburg is the best one! Hands down it's better than the original location. I have been going to Blanco cafes since my 20's so that's a really long history and this one has the original taste and quality of the famous cheesey enchiladas. Always busy and insufficient parking but definitely high quality taste and service is very quick once you get seated. Great prices and my daughter had enchiladas verdes which were delicious too. SERVICE. Ordered a barbacoa taco with lemon, a cup of coffee and water no ice. Food came quickly but my lemon was not fresh. When I asked the waitress to replace it she explained to me that they are not allowed to replace it or give me an extra lemon. I asked for the manager. Manager took a while to show up so I ate my taco as is no lemon. When I was done manager shows up and willingly wishes to replace my lemon, but it was to late I already ate my taco. I asked why the waitress was able to address my concern and replace the lemon, he stated "I don't know". I then replied that they are following management's procedures. They need to be able to address customers concerns as they arise. It's all about service and hospitality. Manager became offended and stated "don't speak for me sir, I didn't tell them not to replace your lemon." Whenever my day starts up by Medical Center I make it a point to have breakfast at Blanco Cafe! Breakfast and staff are great. The ambiance is meh, but I mean, it's not bad. It's just not cool, but I'm not there for cool, silly, I'm there to stuff my face with HUEVOS RANCHEROS. It's the cream of the crop here with soft flour tortillas. I will usually get a couple carne guisada tacos to go and the food lasts me all day. The parking situation on weekends and lunch times can be crazy, but there's really not much that can be done about it because BIG CHEVYS little parking spots, and there are a lot of other places to eat at. We ate at Blanco Cafe after a few years of not going. We wanted chips queso and salsa so we ordered it. We were charged $8.99 for the queso and a red salsa and a green salsa. The chips were not fresh, most likely bought and they tasted cheap. We had so much dip left we asked for some more chips and were charged $3.29 for that. I had the carne asada a la Mexicana.
