This place is an experience. A mix of depression and nostalgia. All upwardly mobile and successful raza come here to remember your humble roots. You will meet some gente that remind you of your tribe in the 60s and 70s. The really dirty front doors were the first sign maybe I should have concerns. The servers all have an air of being so busy and harried even though the raza clientele couldn't care less, sitting here like nothing else to do. It was like they were serving troops, not guests. The service skittish and my server did not bring me chips and salsa like the other tables received. She was that painted chola type that did it to be necia. Won't be going back here. They simply will not tell or show you how much your food costs on your ticket nor at the counter when they finally ring it up. I don't know about you but I don't buy a single thing no matter how big or small it is without knowing the price. Now if it's important to put a price on your menu that means you should follow through on the ticket at some point before you pa -it's even more important. O e of my favorite restaurants for lunch specials. Menudo is so tasty here! Homemade corn tortillas, the Sopes are huge with plenty of meat or chicken and lettuce, queso fresco and guacamole. The food portions are pretty big here. Which is nice! Prices are good too! BUT the service here is SOOOOOO SLOW. Not only to get your order taken, but to get your food too. I joked that they went all the way to Mexico for the food. If you're not in a rush then the wait for the food is worth it. Very good food. Three out of the four tacos that I ordered were all a five star, the other was a three star. I ordered a Catne Guisda, Chilaquiles, Bean and Cheese, and a Papa Rabchera taco. First the tortillas were soft, not too thick, and cooked almost like mama's tortillas. The Carne Gusida was very tasty and the meat was very tender. The gravy was just thr right amount of thickness. The Chilaquiles taco was very good!! Crunchy chips, right amount of Pico degallo, and some good ole American Cheese, which blends well with the egg. The Bean and Cheese was good and the American Cheese makes it even better. The Papa Rabcheras taco was okay the potatoes seemed like they were boiled and not fried (I prefer fried potatoes) and the salsa was not spicy, but did have a heavy tomato flavor. This is one of my favorite places to go for breakfast. The carne guisada is the best I've had and boy am I picky. I really don't eat it from anywhere else. The huevos rancheros are great and the Migas are yummy too. This restaurant uses American cheese so it's usually very cheesy and delicious. The service is good, the food doesn't take long but there are times of the day when the restaurant is packed and you will wait a bit, well worth it. The prices are pretty reasonable. The biggest thing I don't like about this restaurant is that they close at 3:30 and we can't go eat there at night. read more

Wow! Only 3.5 stars? I've been eating here for years. The food is great Tex Mex. This is not a Jalisco style restaraunt. God bless Tex Mex. These types of restaurants are slowly disappearing as Jaliscos take over. It looks like a lot of the low reviews are around the time they moved from the old building next door into the larger building. I miss my hole in the wall older building. They were open for dinner also and my family ate there often. They eventually stopped dinner service. Regarding service. The place is usually packed and the servers are extremely busy but they are great. I think the delay in service is the kitchen. But the food is great and worth waiting for. There are few restaraunts where it is worth waiting. The food is consistent. They do have some server turnover as most restaraunts do so I cannot vouch for every server . Uva is usually at the register and sometimes she waits on tables. She is kind to everyone and she has been there since the old building. Pro tip: Go early and beat the crowds. read more

Good food but bad waitress service. We came in and two other parties were after us they sat down after we did. They got attended before we did and got there food way before we did. All the waiters talk Spanish too, some talk in English but not all of them, they're so kind & patient though. It gets packed so sometimes so we have to wait for a good while but the wait is worth it when the food arrives I've been coming here since before they opened the new building. So I want to say about 6 years & I at least go every month sometimes every week. It's worth it. Breakfast specials start at 7am & end at 10am It's 3 tacos for 3.25$ including tax!!
