Huarache with pastor and bistec, in the back Chile Relleno with rice and beans.

Delicious Huaraches of different meats. I tried the pastor with bistec mixed and it was really good. Also the red sauce was spicy good! The Chile Relleno was really good too, it comes with rice and beans and handmade tortillas. The girl that helped us was very nice and helped us with the menu since it was our first visit. We will be back!

Red posole - a blackboard special

MUY DELICIOSO!! Come here for the best carne al pastor and red posole soup in Garland. REALLY! Wow what a great addition to the South Garland authentic Mexican food restaurants. No fake-Mex or fusion cuisine here -- this is real authentic Mexico City style Mexican food prepared only when you order it and served hot to your table. An expansive menu offers meats not found in every other taqueria, like Tinga de Pollo (chicken in chipotle sauce), Chuleta (grilled pork chop), chicharron prensado (red Mexico City pork skin stew), and nopales (prickly pear). Pay attention to a small chalkboard near the menu for the daily or weekend-only special menu items. The food is amazing - made fresh in small batches for maximum freshness and prepared to order. The chef knows how to. Alande be various ingredients so no one item overwhelms the entire dish. Everything is balanced and works together to delight the tastebuds. All the dishes we tried today were delicious! On our visit, red posole soup was on the blackboard :) - I NEVER pass on posole! The posole here is served as a soup, with a generous portion of hominy and chunks of impossibly tender pork that had been simmered for hours in a red chile broth. The delicious chile broth was just spicy enough to make your nose run, but never overwhelmed your palate or burned your mouth. It would be the perfect dish to warm you heart and soul on a cold day. I added a gordita con tinga de pollo to round out the meal, and loved it. The chipotle in the tinga sauce complemented the chicken without overwhelming it, and the lettuce and freshly grilled gordita shell provided a nice crispy crunch and good texture. There was just enough saltiness from the queso fresco and zing from the sour cream to make this gordita one of the best I have had in a long time. My younger daughter had an awesome huarache con carne al pastor (a long thick corn pancake topped with achiote pork, refried beans, lettuce, tomato, queso fresco and cream). Ok, let me digress about carne al pastor. It's an obsession of mine, and I always get it in anew place because it's a litmus test me for. If you can't do al pastor well, I won't be back. But if you do it well, you'll see me ALL THE TIME. The carne al pastor here is AMAZING - the best in Garland. It's a wet stewed (not drier stacked) style, and the impossible tender small pieces of diced pork are infused and saturated in a mild achiote sauce balanced with pineapple. The pineapple was evident in the sauce, and there were little chunks of pineapple mixed in, just the way I like it! My husband had a taco al pastor, chuleta (grilled pork chop) taco, and a quesadilla de nopales (prickly pear). The taco al pastor was sublime, but you already knew that. The pork chop had been cubed, seasoned, and grilled in a flat top, so it was tender and crispy on all sides inside its tortilla. Mmmmmmm! The nopales quesadilla was really good too - a generous serving of fresh (not canned) stewed pear pads that retained a slightly crunchy texture which paired well with the large griddled corn tortilla, asadero cheese and grilled onions inside. My older daughter had the beef fajita quesadilla with mushrooms and white cheese. She is very particular about her Mexican food, and rarely wants to take her leftovers home. Today we had to make a special trip home to take her uneaten half quesadilla home. High praise indeed from Miranda!! 5 they're-gonna-see-me-so-often-they're-gonna-get-tired-of-me stars!!!!!

It was really good, we stop at these places all the time to try the food. We travel all afound the DFW area and always look for different places to eat, primarily taco shops. This one is very unassuming, small store front, you might miss it. We were greeted by a very freindly host who gave us our menus and we decided on our food. We had a gordita chicaron, a gordita chorizo, and two tacos....a barbacoa and a lingua. It was all very good. If you're in the neighborhood i would suggest stopping by and trying it.

First time here and at 1:40 is was empty and staff were all seated in booths. I walk up to front to Read menu and the girl asks me take in or eat out and I remark , "I need more time please ," and literally 5 seconds later she asks me again and I have to repeat myself slower that I need more time. So then I order and she needs help from another girl to enter order and then I orders chicken quesadilla and three different tacos. I ask her which tacos are the best and her response is ,"I don't know." Ughhhhh So another girl was able to tell me. We got them to go and when we got to the house I opened my tacos and they had dumped them all into the same styrofoam container so the meats were all mixed up and had fallen out of the tortillas. They tasted ok but disappointed in presentation. Positive note- 3 stars for carrying Topo Chico!! The chicken quesadilla had lettuce in it so I'm not sure we got the right thing so check your orders before leaving I guess.....

    beef fajita and two tacos

I got a beef fajita quesadilla, one beef fajita taco and also one chicken taco. i liked all 3. I gave 4 start because i've had better. But this is definitely a place I would visit again.

    Dirty floors and tables!!

Extremely dirty!!!! Food wasn't that good either. We had a couple of orders, the enchiladas my daughter wanted were swimming in a red sauce that had very little taste and so messy she didn't even want it. The fajita Gorditas I ordered were actually ground beef and very soggy to the point I couldn't pick one up without it falling apart all over my plate. I've driven by this place so much and it looks appealing from the outside but now that we've gone in and seen the filth and tasted the food I would definitely NOT RECOMMEND IT!!!!

Caldo de res is spicy and delicious! Has lots of flavor but has a kick to it.

Good portion and prices are reasonable. My best plate was the caldo de Res. Lots of flavor and is spicy. They also have paletas so if you have a sweet tooth, the pecan and rice paletas are a good choice.

I was actually wanting a grapefruit Jarritos, but they did not have it. The young lady who took my order said the Squirt was Hecho en Mexico, so I took it. I didn't even know Squirt was grapefruit flavor. It did the trick! Anyways... back to the reason I stopped in - Tacos! The Tacos de Trompo were served hot and fresh and they were quite tasty. They were served with fresh cilantro and onions and two small lime wedges. They were also a few grilled onion slivers and a grilled Serrano on my plate. The young lady who took my order was friendly and was kind enough to bring my food out to my table. I really appreciated that! The only negative aspects of the meal were that I would have liked to have had more cilantro and onions, and either one more lime slice or two larger lime slices to begin with. Also, the lime slices I got were a little aged, but I still managed to squeeze out just barely enough. The house made green and red hot sauces were not very hot at all. That was kind of a bummer. All in all, I would visit Taqueria Garcia's again. So, if you're in the neighborhood and have a hankering for Street Tacos, you should give this spot a go. I did not visit the restroom, but because it was obviously not inside the restaurant, I assumed it had to be accessible only from the outside. No biggie with that. Tacos... one cannot go wrong with Tacos! Eat well. Be well. Cheers!

Upon my arrival to this very unassuming little joint, located in the parking lot of an El Rancho Super Mercado, I began to wonder if I was even at the right spot. The building look's like somebody just plopped a box down, has few windows, and has plain white entry/exit doors 180 degrees opposite each other. Entering, I was hoping I was in the right place and using the right door. I was and I did. For my tacos, I ordered one each: Chorizo, Chicken, and Beef. To drink, I ordered a Jarritos Lime soft drink. The tacos were served traditional street style - two small corn tortillas for each - stuffed with meat, onions and cilantro, with a couple of lime wedges on the side. The lime wedges were super juicy and the tacos were hot and delicious!! The red and green sauces were not as full-bodied as I prefer (I like the sauces to have a solid color, smooth almost creamy look, with no seeds visible.) and neither was as hot (spicy) as I would have liked. Both sauces had about the same heat level - a solid "Three." Nevertheless, I wholly enjoyed my tacos and would definitely visit Los Compadres again! The person who took my order was friendly. The prices were reasonable and my appetite for tacos was satisfied! If you're in the area and looking for some good tacos, definitely give this little shack a try! You won't regret doing so. Also, you'll probably wish you'd ordered more tacos than you did, so go ahead and order two extra! You'll eat them!! As far as amenities, there is a handwashing station inside the "dining area," but I left not knowing whether there was an actual restroom on the premises or not. So, on that note... "go" before you go! Eat well. Be well. Cheers!

Nothing fancy about the decor, but everything was nice and clean. I ordered a Trompo bowl which includes their trompo (al pastor shaved off of a rotating spit), lettuce, pico de gallo, rice, lime wedges and a few small corn tortillas. In addition I ordered one carnitas taco with corn tortilla, which also came with some grilled onions on the side, some diced raw onions on the side, cilantro, a grilled jalapeno, and a few lime wedges. The total came to a little over $14 for the two items. When my order came up I was surprised by the amount of food. It was more than I expected, but it looked very good. Starting with the Trompo bowl, it was excellent. Everything very fresh, and reminded me a lot of the al pastor that I'm used to eating in California. Perfectly cooked and well seasoned, it was very satisfying. The carnitas taco was also excellent. It was moist, yet had that nice bit of char on it which gives it a bit of crunch. Very tasty. They gave me a couple of bottles of salsa to use at the table, one a reddish brown and one a slightly bright green. Both were good, but I actually liked my food more without it. Overall I was quite impressed by Trompo. I've only been to half a dozen or so Mexican places in Texas, but this one has been my favorite so far.
