We found this place on yelp. When we walked in the door we were immediately welcomed by who I think was the owner. He took the time to give us recommendations and tell us about the menu. The Chefs were all nicely groomed and they all wore hair and beard nets. They were very organized and very particular about their cleanliness as they prepared large orders for delivery. We ordered the Barbacoa, fish, Fajita de Res tacos with refried beans, barracho beans and rice. They were ALL EXCELLENT! We highly recommend Tranky's Tacos!! There were a couple of people in front of us and a lot of people came in not long after. I got tacos with barbacoa, fajita de res, Al pastor, and chicharron. They came topped with onions and cilantro, with some lime and sautéed onions on the side. Their tacos were juicy yet the meat were also a bit dry. Tacos are good, but the outer tortilla had become stiff, chewy. I don't like the "Mexican rice". I rarely see rice like this- seems ground up and clumpy. Not much flavor. My guess is if it's the kind you grew up eating you will love it. I had the bean soup instead of refried beans. It had cut up hot dogs in it. Like the rice, if you grew up eating that style you will likely love it. I'm not a fan. There were two hot sauces available- red and green. Green was on the mild side and the red warmer. The place is a family-run business, and the daughter was able to walk us through the menu and the cooking process. They braise their meats for hours, and everything is cooked fresh. I got an assortment of tacos (barbacoa, fajita de res, carnitas, and al pastor), and they all did not disappoint. I will say that the braised meats were by far OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD and are must-tries when you come. They were so juicy and packed with flavor. The corn tortillas were handmade and had amazing structural integrity despite the juiciness of the meat (the worst is when the corn tortillas are old and break while you eat them). My favorite personally was the carnitas! The price is on the higher side (~$2.75 per taco), but these tacos were worth every single penny. I choose two pollo tacos and one barbacoa taco. Those tacos were so perfectly seasoned and all the accoutrements on the tacos come together so perfectly with the seasoned meat. It's like a bite of heaven. The Borrocho Beans...yum!! The beans are soft and the abundance of flavor in the sauce/broth is so good I could have drank it up. The rice and sautéed onions on the side are a nice addition and I enjoyed it everything all together. You know the saying, "Tastes so good, makes you wanna slap your mama?" Despite the lunch crush, the staff is friendly and attentive. The food is definitely worth the short wait and the portions are very generous. My coworker brought me to Tranky's Tacos letting me know that the tacos were that good. We decided to go right after 11 am. It hadn't gotten too crowded when we arrived. Looking over the menu, I wanted to try so many dishes. I decided on the fish tacos. After about a 15 wait, our food was ready. The tacos looked so delicious. I was highly impressed with the amount of fish on each taco. The fish was sliced and much larger than the taco shell. There is a chipotle sauce drizzled on top which gave the tacos a nice and spicy kick. Normally, I pick over my tacos but I love every bite of these. I couldn't get enough. I had to take some pieces of fish off of each taco just to eat it. I really didn't mind. It's rare that you have to eat tacos with a fork but it was very necessary with these. It was busy and only got busier during the lunch hour. I will come around 11:30 next time since it was so busy at 12. I decided to try a chicken, beef, and pork taco. I had a little trouble finding a place to sit as it was busy and they didn't have a lot of tables. By the time my food was ready, I'd found a table. The reviews are true. This place has great tacos. The meat was well seasoned, the sauce topping were tasty, and overall all of the tacos were delicious. Many restaurants try to do a great street taco. Tranky's is one with great tacos. Have been looking forward to trying Tranky's out, since they opened. Unfortunately there just wasn't anything spectacular about it. Other than their food being overpriced! My wife & I stopped by for lunch & had their fish tacos, steak bowl, & 2 tacos. It was $30! I was imagining that the fish tacos would be served with some rice & beans at least. Instead it was just 3 fried cod tacos for nearly $12! The steak bowl was another $8 and each of their tacos over $2 each!
