A fellow Yelper (Will B. ) was instrumental in me giving this food truck a try. His review was spot on!! I never crave authentic tacos. NEVER! This food truck delivered on some very flavorful tacos that really hit the spot for me! I only ordered two tacos . Steak (asada) and mix chorizo / steak ( campechano) . Both tacos were extremely fresh and were complemented nicely with a red sauce. Green sauce was an option as well. Taco Mariachi offers tacos , tortas , quesadillas and burritos. I can't wait to try more menu items. The service was pretty fast and friendly.

AMAZING!!!! If you happen to stumble upon this taco spot you have to stop by! My boyfriend and I drove from California and were craving authentic Mexican food. For Alabama, our expectations were low but, we were incredibly impressed. Great service, great food. 10/10. My boyfriend got the carne asada tacos and I got the birria. Both options are great. Thank you Taco Mariachi for a great experience!

It finally happened. I have hoped and hoped. Furiously biting my nails in anticipation. They are popping up all over Birmingham. Why can't one come close to me?!? And by that I mean, I finally have a taco truck within a few minutes of my house. My answered prayer came in the form of Taco Mariachi. As with all great taco spots, you now you are getting something delicious for not a whole lot of money. I was hoping when my personal dream came to fruition, I wouldn't be disappointed. And I was not. I got three tacos in chorizo, lengue, and chorizo/asada. They were fantastic. Gave us plenty of sauce and limes to boost that flavor even more. We got the kids a torta. The bread was so soft and good. They do put a hot sauce on it that was a bit much for the kids. But it was easy to scrape off and I will know to ask next time to hold off. Overall, I am pumped about this!! Great tacos are now super close to me. This could be dangerous!

Wonderful to have an excellent taco truck on the East side of Bham. Totally legit. I had a one asada and two pastor tacos. $2.50 each. Mariachi style is 50 cents more and adds avocado, tomato and cheese. Great side sauces. Mexican Cokes..$2. All delicious. I overheard tamales are available on Saturdays. Mmmm.

Great little taco truck! And I'm so grateful for being introduced to campechano: a mix of asada and chorizo! I've eaten at several taco trucks, and I've never seen that option. It was the best of the three tacos I ordered at Taco Mariachi (also ordered pastor and asada). The pastor was very tasty, too. My friends ordered burritos, and those looked tasty and ample. Service was friendly and pretty quick. Be careful: the red salsa is very hot; a little goes a long way.

Where do I begin?…read more First of all, the restaurant is very colorfully decorated, which instantly brightens the mood. We were able to seat ourselves, and immediately afterwards the waitress brought complimentary salsa and chips as she took our drink and food order. The salsa and chips were very good. The chips were crisp and freshly made and the salsa had just the right amount of kick to it. It was sweet and unique and I could see myself ordering it as a to-go order. For our entrees, I ordered 3 street tacos and cheese dip. My guy ordered the steak fajita plate. After a short wait, our food arrived, hot and fresh off the grill. I wasn't a fan of the pollo taco. It was bland and lacked any type of flavor. However, the campechano and chorizo versions were much better. The cheese dip stayed watered down even after it cooled but had a good flavor to it. I looked up to see my guy reaching for the salt shaker several times. I tasted a small serving of his steak. Yall..,.I kid you not. That steak had no type of seasoning-no salt, no pepper, no nothing had been sprinkled on it. To sum it up...it was overcooked and under seasoned. He kept trying to doctor the dish up by adding salt and pepper but after a while stopped because that should've been done in the cooking of the dish. He only ate a 1/3 of his dish. Upon paying the check, he attempted to share his disappointment with the waitress, who now all of a sudden, doesn't understand English. Keep in mind, we had been communicating with her just fine throughout our time there. Needless to say, we will not be returning to the restaurant location anytime soon. I've visited the truck before and will return there.

They have their menu plastered on the side of the truck which includes things like burritos, tacos, sopes, tortas, etc. I ended up ordering two brisket tacos supremos ($4 a piece), which have tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, and sour cream. They come with two small containers of salsa (one is spicy and the other is mild). I also ordered esquites ($6.50), which is corn in a cup with mayonnaise, cotija cheese, tajin, Valentina, and lime. The people who take your order are always very nice and quick. I waited about 6 minutes for my food to come out, and they call you over when it's ready. The food was all hot and so fresh. The brisket in the tacos was very flavorful and cooked well, and the esquites were tangy and juicy. They give you great portion sizes for the price and quality in my opinion. I have never had a bad experience here, and would recommend it to anyone needing a quick bite to eat.

This time, however, I decided to try the quesabirrias, and unfortunately, they were disappointing. I also ordered a horchata, which I didn't think was very good. The biggest area that needs improvement is the customer service. I would describe it as average at best, and in some ways, closer to poor. I understand that no one is obligated to greet customers or wish them a good day, but when you're paying for a meal--especially at a place that isn't exactly cheap--you at least expect to be treated with kindness. During my visit, no one greeted me when I walked in or when they came to take my order, and overall the staff didn't seem very welcoming or attentive. While I was waiting for my food, I asked if I could get a little more horchata. The employee simply replied, "No, you have to buy another one." I responded, "No, that's okay." Honestly, if the horchata had been really good, I would have gladly paid for another one. It wasn't so much about having to buy a second drink--it was more about the way the situation was handled. Small interactions like that can make a big difference in how customers feel. I truly believe this restaurant has a lot of potential. If they improved their customer service and showed a little more warmth and empathy toward their customers, it could easily become one of the best Mexican restaurants in Birmingham. The food has potential, but the overall dining experience also depends on how customers are treated, and that's the area that still needs the most improvement.
