Chicken Boss Bowl with potato ole's on top

Finally was able to try the world, famous Taco John's. woohoo Delicious. I added the crispy edges of the potatoe ole's to my Chicken Boss Bowl. It was everything. Service was fast and friendly.

Street Tacos are so good! Full of flavor!

I was hoping this would be a better Taco Bell. I was wrong. The burrito was not good at all.

Average food for an ok price. Clearly not the best Mexican food around. Same as it was years ago.

Good fast food. I thought the potatoes looked under cooked, but they were perfect especially dipped in cheese dip.

The Potatoe Ole's are awesome, and yes they are salty, but isn't that part of fast food?

Colby, Kansas, March 2026…read more The small restaurant has 10 tables. It It sits on the corner of an antique strip mall. Pretty basic inside the restaurant. The salad bar is located right next to the one and only bathroom. The menu has many sandwiches to choose from. It has fewer entree selections. The waitress was new the night we went. She was nice and extremely helpful. She was an older lady, and I only say that for clarification of the other waitress who had long black hair with ponytail. Tried to get her attention a few times, and even though the restaurant is extremely small, she passed by as if though she did not see us. We ordered the chicken fried steak and the fried chicken. Both came with an ice cream size scoop of mashed potatoes and corn. The potatoes and chicken were covered in a white gravy. The chicken was hot and tender. The mashed potatoes were flavorless as was the gravy. The meals are also accompanied with a roll. Butter is in individual packets on the table. The chicken fried steak was thick and had little breading. It would have been better if it was a thinner pounded steak with more breading as that was more traditional to my liking. When they bring your check, it comes with a warm chocolate chip cookie. Cute idea! The ambience was odd and not welcoming. The location was rather depressing. The food was OK. I would give this place overall 3.5 stars.

I maintain that a Jimmy Johns in Colby is amazing in and of itself. I love that you can order ahead in the app and you'll have fresh sandwiches at the ready when you pull up, which when you're on a road trip is both convenient and much healthier than say Mcdonalds. We both dined in and grabbed some to go recently and both experiences were good. The sandwiches were made correctly, and they were pretty fast both times. The store itself is clean, and the staff working is fairly friendly. I had two issues here that are worth noting, however. First of all there is just one toilet for men and one toilet for women. This is standard at all Jimmy John's locations so I get it, the issue here is that Colby is a huge rest stop for travellers along I-70 so the lines can be long. I was really frustrated on my most recent stop as we were waiting in line for probably 15-20 minutes, to the point where I was worried someone may be having some sort of issue, when the person who came out was an employee who had clearly just been playing on her phone. The line for the women's room had backed up way into the restaurant, and she seemed to just not care - that really rubbed me the wrong way. My other big issue was no changing table for a baby. I again had to change my baby in the car which can be less than ideal. Aside from that it's a good JJs - definitely room for some improvement but overall pretty good.

We usually push a little further west than Colby when stopping for the night but occasionally stop in Colby Tonight, Colby was our destination and City Limits Bar and Grill was on the agenda for dinner. It was as good as I remembered from a few years ago. The menu listed a "chef's special" (ask your server for details). Imagine my delight when tonight's special was Shepherds Pie. I'm part Irish and can't pass up a good potato dish - especially Shepherd's Pie. The Shepherd's Pie at City Limits was OUTSTANDING and exceeded my expectations. My wife opted for the Short rib sandwich that came with fries. She said her sandwich was excellent and I can attest that the fries were also excellent as she shared her fries. It reminded me of a little restaurant in Dublin, Ireland where I ordered Shepherd;s Pie and the waitress asked me if I wanted fries or mashed potatoes. I said I thought Shepherd's Pie was always made with mashed potatoes and she replied "I meant for your side dish". I guess we Irishmen really like our potatoes. Service was excellent. Good food, good service, good value.

Waiter was nice but when we told him the food was bad he just said sorry. Didn't offer to get something else.... a free dessert would have gone a long way. I know it wasn't his fault, and told him that but then he never returned to the table. Inside the restaurant is confusing. Are you a "Bar and Grill" or a fine dining restaurant? I'm not sure what you're going for.

We stopped based on reviews and it didn't disappoint! The address led us directly to the black trailer, which also has a couple of picnic tables for those that want to eat outside. It was a little chilly so we opted to eat in our car. The owner was just the sweetest and made sure to answer all of our questions. Tortillas are all corn, so perfect for the Gluten Free individual in our group. Between us we got the Tacos Locos, Chicken Empanadas, and Sopes. The green salsa was amazing as well! Will definitely be back! The menu is posted on the truck without pricing (perhaps it changes based on food cost?), but if you ask they will tell you. Each thing was $15 when we stopped today, but it was more than enough to share of you're a lighter eater. We didn't because we wanted to try a variety...and we are so glad we did. All around great place!
