Have passed by this establishment several times a week and always said I gotta try them but forget. Well today I actually remembered them and had a taste for some street tacos. I'm kinda washed out from my regular spots so was looking forward to seeing what a new spot could offer. I got my order to go and the cashier was smiling and made it clear that her English wasn't the best but she actually done great! I will say that the dip cake out colder than expected but the waitress was super nice and gave us another one heated. For my entree, I had the Burris tacos that were a menu special. I keep seeing these all over IG so of course I finally had to try them. They were pretty yummy. I only ordered two since I wasn't super hungry but they usually come in threes and with a lot of cheese. I'm a big fan. Probably get food from here twice a month. With that being said, the last time I ordered they put something on my order I didn't order and then left an order off that I did. I ordered three things and received three things, I didn't realize I had been charged for four until they called and told me that they forgot to give me an order. If Taco Express was next to the Alamo in 1836, there would never have been a battle. We were greeted at the door by a smokin hot tamale who brought us to a seat by the window. She then presented all she had to offer. Afternoon delite never looked so appetizing. I had a spicy burrito with egg and chorizo with a cherry coke the tasted like it was busted out of some ripe, seasoned melons. By the time we were done, I coulda slow-lipped a smoke and fallen into a deep, satisfying nap. Santa mierda! a quick to-go order for lunch turned into a pleasant surprise. I walked into this restaurant with little expectations but left with two pretty darn good street tacos. I got one fish taco. It was topped with onions and cilantro(not too much). I got another chorizo taco. It was full of flavor. They also included two sauces that were made in-house. Because, let's face it, life is short, and what we do with that short amount of time is important. Do I want to spend my limited time in this life on this earth writing a review about a taco joint? I'm not gonna waste precious time doing that... Buddy, I'm wrong as hell. I need to tell the world about this place. My life was going nowhere until Taco Express entered it. I feel reborn. I'll be honest, I didn't have high hopes. My wife picked it out on Uber Eats. I googled it and saw a picture of a sign that looked like your typical strip mall nail salon. "Why would she want THIS place?" I, dumbly, questioned to myself. Whatever. I'm hungry. Let's order. We ordered and this super old dude delivered the food. Like, really old. Like, pandemic be damned, he shouldn't be doing food deliveries at his age regardless. This dude needed to hold on to the column of my front porch to make it up the three front steps. He looked lost. I was genuinely worried about him. He left the food at the front door and I waited 4 minutes for him to evacuate the area and get back in his car. I was annoyed that his old ass was taking so long to leave since I was in my underwear and waiting for him to do so before grabbing the food. Again, expectations were not high. I tore into the plastic bag and opened all of the takeout containers to find that they forgot my side order of Mexican street corn. Great. Slightly even more annoyed and my preconceived notions of a disappointment were already manifesting. Awesome. I grabbed two Miller High Lifes out of the fridge. One to deal with the impending disappointment I was expecting. The other because I'm a man, and let's face it, Miller High Life is the manliest beer you can drink. Craft schmaft. I grab ahold of my California burrito and it felt like I was holding a prematurely born baby. And after the first bite, I loved it as if it was MY prematurely born baby. I don't have kids but I imagine the love I felt for this burrito is pretty equal to the love one feels after holding their newborn after 8-9 painstaking months of carrying it. I looked over at my wife. I'm now doubting if I ever really loved her because in 5 years she has never made me feel the way this burrito did in 5 seconds. I look at her, and I can see the exact same doubt I'm having in her eyes. Her pollo quesadilla is far exceeding any feelings I have ever given or caused her. We make eye contact and agree that Taco Express has introduced us to a new type of marriage. This unholy matrimony of meat and cheese. An unholy meat-rimony, if you will. We both utter these inaudible moans of culinary ecstasy. I don't know who was working in the kitchen at Taco Express this afternoon but they had the hands of God herself involved in the crafting of this masterpiece. God bless you for this. I couldn't even finish it because I had to stop everything to tell the world - or what limited part of the world that will see this - all about how great Taco Express is and forever will be. The menu is simple with Taco's, Sope, Quesadilla, Tortas, Burritos, & Huaraches all sold A la Carte. A few plate specials offered on the specials board. The Sope was large and flavorful topped with steak, lettuce, crema, and crumbled cheese. The chorizo taco hit the the spot on a homemade corn tortilla. Sauces served at the table included a verde and rojo. Chips were served complimentary with Roasted chili salsa, chips were less memorable than the mains.
