Can't say enough good things this place. We discovered it a few months ago and fell in love with the food and the owners. Authentic Mexican food from a couple from a small town in Mexico. My wife said that their nachos are the best she has EVER had. My favorite is the "Machete el Chingon". Al Pastor, carnitas and campechano in a handmade corn tortilla. OMG! Newsday rated it one the the best new restaurants for 2019 and they also named the machete as on the the best dishes. Couldn't agree more. Now, with COVID-19, they have curbside pickup and delivery. Food is exactly the same. Now, more than ever, is when you should help the small family owned restaurants. This should be at the top of your list! read more

In continuing to support local businesses, my belly and mind had my heart set on tacos tonight. No need to wait for taco Tuesday for tacos. Had this place bookmarked for a while. Checked their website which stated they were open for pickup only. I called in my order when I got out of work. It was ready in 20 minutes..which is about how long it took me to drive there. I was greeted instantly with a smile and a few jokes. I went with three original shrimp tacos. They have authentic tacos and American tacos, so be careful when you are ordering tacos if you want the authentic ones. The aroma filled my car the entire drive home to Plainview. I was so excited to eat. The order came with three tacos. Each taco was overfilled with shrimp! The flavor was delish!! I was also given three different salsas. Salsa verde, hot salsa and a chipotle type of salsa. Salsa verde was a perfect marriage with my shrimp tacos. The hot salsa was very spicy and made my tongue dance. Chipotle salsa was yummy as well. I tried this place because of the good reviews on Yelp. The Street Tacos did not disappoint. I had the Asada, Shrimp and The El Pastor (marinated pork with pineapple). All were very good. We also had a Chicken Quesadilla which was loaded. There is an extensive menu and they serve breakfast too. They also have daily specials available. If you like "authentic" Mexican you must give this place a try. The staff was very friendly and it was also very clean. We definitely plan to return and try some of the other offerings. read more

Ordered for the first time tonight. Excellent homemade and authentic food. The highlight was #20 chorizo and steak quesadilla. Came with several dipping sauces and we ordered rice and beans on the side. My husband had tacos and really enjoyed the al pastor and chorizo. The carnitas was a little dry but I didn't try any with the included sauce which I think would have made a difference. Small takeout place with a few tables inside blocked off for Covid. Treat yourself to something flavorful and support a local business. We can't wait to try their breakfast options and will for sure be back for dinner. read more

Good food, generous portions, fairy priced and very friendly staff. I've only had some tacos and the chicken quesadilla so far (all on corn tortilla, for gluten free). It's really good, but not incredible as its solid 5 star rating might lead you believe.. but it's good no doubt. The chicken quesadilla almost has too much chicken but not enough cheese. It's still good though; and the sauces and pico that come with it are excellent. Wish it came with chips. Tacos good too. I'll have to try more but overall it's a very clean, fresh tasting spot with friendly service. Definitely a go to spot for good Mexican food if you are nearby. read more

We ordered: 2 shrimp 1 campechano 1 al pastor (came as three tacos) 1 steak American taco (hard shell) 1 avocado corn salad with shrimp added And a side of plantains Everything was delicious!! I placed the order on the phone and she said 25 min. It was ready when we got there to pick up. We brought our order to the beach with us and it held up more than 20 min later. Loved all the sauces they had. Their corn tortillas tasted so fresh and good. The salad was actually really big and loved the stressing. The only thing I would suggest is that they cooked the sweet potato that was in the salad a little longer. The shrimp tacos were prob my fave. This place has it going on! Finally a good old taco spot. Not fusion blend tacos but real 2 tortilla, meat, onions and cilantro. TACO. I order 3 tacos, al pastor, asada, and shrimp. Honestly shrimp was my ehhh taco. Next time switching it up for the suadero , Beef rib taco. Plan to call them up and give them this review verbally. And hopefully see if they could make the trendy birra tacos maybe as a special. My kid ordered steak quesadilla with a side of rice and beans. Visit Date: November 9, 2019 Hubs and I are on a mission to try various Mexican restaurants for take out that are on my route home from work. We recently tried Taco El Chingon. Pretty much this place is very close to authentic Mexican. For my meal I had the nachos and they were very filling, loaded with toppings and delicious. Hubs wanted a sandwich I forgot which one and they ran out of the bread to make it but they wanted to get him the sandwich since he asked for it so they went out and got some different bread and made the sandwich on the house for us with the different bread. So they're definitely very customer service orientated. Another restaurant would have said they didn't have it and not make an effort to make it different, no less give it to us on the house. I loved that they had so many hot sauces when I walked in. I love hot sauce so I bought a few bottles. Hoping to get Fat Boy Burrito in this Saturday before going back to my former nutritionist. read more

Stopped by after a hike. We thought we were hungry. The portions are large for the price. We happened on Taco Tuesday. I had the tacos al pastor. Three traditional tacos for $8. The meat was piled so high the double soft tacos ends barely touched when picked up. The al pastor meat was well seasoned but not over powering, flavored with pineapple. Three types of salsas came with the meal as well as a few fried tortilla chips. At our table we also had the quesadilla and torta. Both were delicious beyond comparison. They also had horchata and agua de Jamaica, authentic tasting. It was one of the best Mexican meals we've had outside of Mexico. Can't wait to go back and try the other dishes. read more

I got the huarache especial with chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. There's a salsa bar to supplement your order, and I'd recommend getting one of each - such interesting flavors! So much more authentic than the other 'Mexican' restaurants nearby like Dirty Taco in Wantagh. It's a cute place with a few bar stools for seating. Mostly a take out kind of place, so I'd recommend calling your order in advance to save yourself time. Otherwise, you may be waiting a while for your order if there are other people ordering too. Love the chilaquiles and birria. The huevos rancheros are delicious too. Plus everyone is friendly!

I would give this place 100 stars if I could! This is some of the most authentic and best Mexican food I have had in NY since moving her from SoCal. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor dinning And the staff is amazing and make it feel like home. The food is unreal! I love the al pastor burrito. The pork is perfectly marinated and has chunks of pineapple give it the perfect flavor! I wold recommend anything on their menu! The salsa is also all home made and absolutely delicious!
