This place looks very unassuming from 380 but their food is really good! My husband fell in love with this place about a year ago - I had a taco salad there once thought it was ok. However our last few visits it seems like the food has gotten so much better! They make great chicken shredded tacos, chicken tortilla soup and their homemade salsa (you might call it white girl salsa) is tasty and super fresh. The chicken fajita meat tasted like boiled chicken and was stringy. We paid $35 for dinner overall and the only thing worth eating was the beans. The service seemed stressed out. Maybe they were short staffed, I'm no t sure but I felt sorry for them. We ate inside and it was clean but with a stressed out staff, sub-par food, I won't go back. I've been eating here since I was a kid and the quality of the food and the customer service have always been great and only gotten better over time, that's not usually the case for most restaurants. I prayed it was a fluke but it's been recurring. The carnitas have changed. NOOOOOOO!!! They're mushy and mealy now. The texture and taste are reminiscent of canned tuna/chicken. What happened!?? Always great food. I always get chicken. Which is made in house. And they are not stingy with the meat. My kids love eating inside for the free ice cream machine. Here's my take - 1. It's very inexpensive 2. Inconsistent hours, long drive through lines 3. There are not many menu choices.. but the choices they have are all legit. Classic staple of Wylie, TX since the 80s. It is an excellent value, extremely inexpensive for what you get. The portions are big. Maybe too much cheese but you can always take off what you don't need. Soft tacos, tortilla soup, and the Spanish rice are the highlights here. Free soft serve ice cream. Stopped here after church for some grub. It was good. The environment is that of a typical fast food establishment. The place was fairly clean and there were not a whole lot of people there so there were a lot of places to sit. Parking sucked though. But let's talk about the real point of this post. I ordered chicken nachos and got chips, concession stand flavored cheese with dry shredded chicken on top. No veggies, etc. Beef nachos were the same way. So tonight I decided to try out Taco Delite in Wylie according to their somewhat good reviews on Google. My boyfriend was literally just at Taco Delite around 9:15pm tonight, not even an hour ago. He's the one that ordered a enchilada dinner, chili, chicken tortilla soup, nachos, soft beef tacos, & a soft chicken taco. So I'm like half way eating everything & I opened the chili & scooped some & right when the spoon touched my tongue I looked down & saw antennas in the chili & immediately asked him to check it out because I'm way to scared of bugs to do it myself. This is what he found. Ughhhh I'm so disgusted I mean I somewhat understand that a cricket could've just jumped in the pot or something but then again why is their pot that they cook their chili in not covered with a lid at all times???
