Hubby and I decided to try Taco De Oro on our latest trip to Scottsbluff. It was clean and the decor was pretty cool and looked like it had recently been updated. Although you order your food at the counter, it is served on real plates that are bright and colorful. The staff was very nice and helpful. We shared a combo plate, cup of vermicelli, cup of green chile, and chips. The chips were warm and crispy. They tasted homemade. They gave us two different salsas. I preferred the green over the red. The green had some spice to it. The combo plate came with a taco (fried flour tortilla shell), tostada, cheese enchilada, beans, and rice. It was very similar to the combo plates you can get at almost every Mexican restaurant in the area. The beans and rice were ok. I should have paid a little more attention to what came in the combo and upgraded to a beef enchilada, but the cheese enchilada wasn't bad. It had more sauce than most places have, which I liked. The taco was a little more greasy than most places, but not a deal breaker at all. I was very surprised that they had vermicelli (fideo) on the menu. I grew up eating fideo, so of course we had to try it. It was pretty good. The broth was very good with lots of flavor. There were also a decent amount of noodles. The pork green chile was good too. It had a lot of pork, but I like the sauce a little thicker. Overall we liked it. You can get the combo anywhere in town, but we will definitely be back for the vermicelli and green chile. Decent and tasty Mexican comfort food. The fried flour tortillas they use for tacos are different than the standard tortillas I've gotten most places. Being popular, this place can be quite busy, but they have lots of tables. No table service, so walk up to the counter to order. Also: CASH ONLY. Modest prices and friendly staff. Went with a party of four. We all ordered their signature item, a TDO smothered with pork chili. What we got was 4 tortilla shells half full of what appeared to be taco porridge. Tired and hungry after a long day, we ate them with spoons and didn't say any anything. Very disappointing for $40 worth of food. read more

Open again!!!! Staff was very friendly, whole place was very clean, and ALL THE FOOD TASTED GREAT!!!!!! The only negative thing I can say is for the price I wish the portions were a bit bigger. But overall I will recommend this place to friends and family read more

My mom and I went here for dinner last night. We quickly realized they don't accept CC/DC. I mentioned to the girl at the counter we were from out of town and we had never eaten there before and what did she recommend, she looked at me like I had two heads and said "I don't know." I settled for a combo plate and a side of green chili, my mom got the smothered burrito platter. Their hot sauce is heavy on the tomato and slightly spicy, I covered my entire plate in it to add some kind of flavor. Mom mom didnt finish her food because it was so bland. My all time favorite Mexican restaurant! I love the smothered enchiladas and fried tacos (made with flour tortillas!) and the pork chili can't be beat. If you like taco salad with pork chili, get their signature dish: the TDO. read more

I have eaten here a few times over the past few years. I live out of state & visit family in NE. My husband always requests a visit to TDO when we're in town- he LOVES the pork chili! Recently, we went in & I ordered the tostadas. They are my new favorite item at TDO! They were delicious! I am already looking forward to my next visit! read more

My friend's wife raved about this place and their amazing Mexican food. Even went as far as to say that it's better than what we have in California. Fuck that! Everything I tried was bland except for the soda. It seemed like the place to be though because the place was packed and everyone seemed to be enjoying their food. I have dined at TDO for years and it continually delivers top quality Mexican cuisine. It is a must have when I am in the Scottsbluff area. This is where the locals eat to so it gets busy around lunch and dinner time sonplab accordingly. They only take cash so leave the credit and debit card at home. read more

I am from out of town but frequent the area regularly to see family and I am absolutely furious writing this comment! First of all the service was terrible! The girl at the counter taking orders needs a serious lesson in social interaction! She was rude and short and she literally could care less about her job or even being friendly! Second, and most importantly is I spent the whole day on the bathroom floor in my hotel room! I was so sick and vomiting from food poisoning from my lunch at Taco de Oro! I would only recommend this place to my worst enemy! Go literally anywhere else in town to get Mexican food! read more

We have been going to Scottsbluff for years, and driven by Taco De Oro...so glad we finally stopped this time! We both really liked it & I will be ordering my own side of pork chili the next time! Customer service at this restaurant is horrendous and if you say anything they spit in your food. There are too many Mexican food options in Scottsbluff to put up with such poor, rude service!! Go to Taco Town, El Charito, or Ole and AVOID this place. read more

We were really looking forward to enjoying Scottsbluff Mexican food. Having grown up in the area and traveling all over the country, we've never found anything quite like it. Sadly, we were beyond disappointed. Not only did they forget to prepare our food, but what we found in our take out bag upon returning to our hotel was actually pathetic. The taco's had decent flavor, however they are grossly overpriced for such a scant amount of meat. The bean and cheese burrito had just enough beans and few shreds of cheese to make the tortilla stick to itself. The smothered burrito, enchilada, tostado, beans, and rice really weren't much better. Hoping that they had a bad day, we returned with the wimpy burrito. We were told that the owner had made our food and we were sent on our way. Well, okay, be like that. Dig your own grave people. I can't believe this is the same place I ate two years ago that I was so excited to return to. Disappointing. I saw "Combo plate," which means I can sample a bit of everything. I asked what it was - tostada, enchilada, taco, rice & beans, perfect. I ordered it with no cheese at all and no lettuce. So when it came out, sans taco, but plus cheese on the enchilada AND beans, I politely returned it to the counter (this isn't my first rodeo, after all, since some people can't respect some dietary requests), and was greeted with apathetic, borderline RUDE service. I am nice, even when you add cheese, I ask you to politely fix it. I was informed that it was a CHEESE enchilada. So, please, servers, if I order a plate with no cheese, could you make mention that the enchilada has JUST cheese in it, so I can order something else? They fixed it with a bean burrito, but had to be reminded twice to bring my taco. The whole meal was just rather bland. I used a LOT of hot sauce on it all, and when the server brought me my taco finally, she commented sarcastically if I had enough hot sauce on there. Well, apparently not enough to spice up bland food they were serving me. The rice was mushy, clearly overcooked. The beans were missing salt and something else I couldn't put my finger on. The tostada had a very thin layer of beans "painted on it" and the chips were really not tasty. I won't return here next year. I'll go to Taco Town instead. read more

Taco de Oro is good if you don't like spicy food. Everything is good, but bland. The hot sauce is mild and very similar to tomato sauce, and the pork chili is very mild. It's never my first choice for Mexican in town, but I still enjoy the food. read more

Ordered the enchilada plate for $9 and it was 2 thin enchiladas with cheese only and a watered down green chile. Vermacelli on the side was like a soup. Will never go back. read more
