Although you order your food at the counter, it is served on real plates that are bright and colorful. The staff was very nice and helpful. We shared a combo plate, cup of vermicelli, cup of green chile, and chips. The chips were warm and crispy. They tasted homemade. They gave us two different salsas. I preferred the green over the red. The green had some spice to it. The combo plate came with a taco (fried flour tortilla shell), tostada, cheese enchilada, beans, and rice. It was very similar to the combo plates you can get at almost every Mexican restaurant in the area. The beans and rice were ok. I should have paid a little more attention to what came in the combo and upgraded to a beef enchilada, but the cheese enchilada wasn't bad. It had more sauce than most places have, which I liked. The taco was a little more greasy than most places, but not a deal breaker at all. I was very surprised that they had vermicelli (fideo) on the menu. I grew up eating fideo, so of course we had to try it. It was pretty good. The broth was very good with lots of flavor. There were also a decent amount of noodles. The pork green chile was good too. It had a lot of pork, but I like the sauce a little thicker. Overall we liked it. You can get the combo anywhere in town, but we will definitely be back for the vermicelli and green chile. Cheers!

Being popular, this place can be quite busy, but they have lots of tables. No table service, so walk up to the counter to order. Also: CASH ONLY. Modest prices and friendly staff. Worth the visit.

I started with a delightful mocktail, moved on to perfect boneless buffalo wings, & ended with the 7 ounce filet mignon & giant baked potato for lunch. The filet was cooked to absolute perfection - exactly how I like it. The potato was delightful - it was probably 12 ounces with real butter (they have fresh sea salt grinders on the table, and that was also wonderful, as I'm a salt girl). The ambience is 100% Wyoming steakhouse which I love and honestly everything was five stars. They have a great bar and tons of parking in the lot or on the street. Go!!

Came out on a hot hot plate, which, I believe, is critical, since the prolonged higher temp keeps the fat rendering until you cut the meat. And a good ribeye has tasty fat which runs clear and full of flavor when it's served correctly. Garlic mushrooms were fantastic. Cream spinach excellent. Seth was my server. Good guy. Was covering another section and saw me sitting and waiting for an extended time so he came over to get me started. Incidentally, I ordered a Coke and water with a bunch of lemon wedges. He legit brought a bunch of lemon wedges with my two drinks. No one ever gets what a bunch of lemons is. He nailed it. Basically, if I ask for a bunch of lemons, when I'm done eating, there should be a few wedges left. Happy I stopped here.

Food is awesome - service is not. I went one Thursday…read moreevening after work in March and I had been trying to get here for weeks. I was aware this is a new-ish place but I love steak houses - from basic supper clubs to high end establishments with history and culinary renown. I have traveled all of the US and have eaten some of the best steaks money can buy... I wanted this place to be gem so badly and for it to become my go to local favorite. Time will tell but my first trip was less than I had hoped - First I was asked to sit at the bar since I was "only one person". (Strike 1). I'm a big guy... you figure the hostess might have picked up on this fact... The place was dead ... so I didn't understand this. I guess it was about an hour until they officially close and maybe we're short staffed. The bartender / servers (there were two) - but they also handled the entire casino floor bar in addition to being my waiters so I received less than attentive service because of the sheer number of people they had to service. The restaurant bar is tucked on the backside of the main casino bar. (Strike 2). I would have easily been convinced to have a bottle of wine or at least a couple of glasses and I was leaning toward trying the Porterhouse (what I originally came for) but it took so long for someone to check on me I decided one beer and something quick to eat because I could see it wasn't going to be a the stellar experience I had hoped for. This is a shame - because the food ended up being awesome. From the bread service which was surprisingly delicious / to my salad (very good) and the 10oz filet(which was actually (2) 5oz medallions ) was perfectly seasoned and cooked at an exact medium rare as I ordered it. I also tried the Burgundy Demi-Glace which was spot on perfect as far as sauces go which really showcased the taste talents of the chef. The whipped potatoes were also fantastic - exactly as I like them and could have eaten two additional orders. I wish the menu or server would have described the filet as two medallions rather than one cut tenderloin as one would expect in a fine dining establishment - but nonetheless - I was delighted by the food. I skipped desert and coffee because I the server didn't come back to ask after dinner for quite some time and I decided perhaps I should get home... The service and lack of even the most basic of attention made me feel like I was putting the staff out for coming in at 8pm. Again - not the bar staff's fault entirely but the lack of understanding of the restaurant manager is more the issue. Call it a supper club or an upscale diner if a service doesn't come with the $46 steak. The restaurant is 20 minutes from my house and I could see eating there at least once per week - I will try again and hope they work out the kinks - but I'll drive to rib& chop in Cheyenne or Rare in Fort Collins until this place matures and level of service catches up with the food quality and price . - if you want to make High Plains Steakhouse a fine dinning destination - you need to step up the service and at least try to make all patrons feel as the experience is worth the price.
