Went here on Friday evening and it was packed. We were seated right away but service was slow and it took awhile for the server to get to us. When the server finally made it to us she was nice. I ordered the prime rib which was huge with green beans. Everything was delicious. The green beams were fresh, with bacon and parm. I was surprised at how good they were. My coworker got the famous $35 nachos with steak. They were so huge! Could definitely feed a party of 4-6. Drinks were so cheap... ordered 2 beers ans a vodka soda and it was only $12! What a deal. I would like to know why not one of the reviews mentioned the crazy prices at this place? We had two drinks and some pretzel bites and with tip it was $50! I was wearing shorts and for the asking prices at this place I should have felt under dressed!! I did not! $31 for nachos?? Granted it's steak nachos but it's just the left over bits!! The one that really got us was $5.25 to add gravy to a chop steak!! Come on people, that's beyond ridiculous! This is a bar and grill with upper class steakhouse prices!! Needless to say, in all of our travels this is the first review I've written complaining about price gouging! The waitress was slow and it didn't really seem like she knew the menu I ordered the brisket and it was disgusting! The waitress said they smoked the brisket in house, but it did not taste like that. The meat tasted like they took it out of the freezer and warmed it up. I will not be going back. read more

Expensive but pretty good. Nachos are massive! Service is hit or miss but food always comes out correctly.

While camping in Scottsbluff, we decided to check out a local winery for a tasting. We struck up a conversation with the owners and happened to ask about their restaurant likes and one of the first mentioned was the Steel Grill & Bar. So we headed there right after the tasting. We had high hopes and weren't disappointed. We had heard about their steak nachos so my wife ordered those. They were huge and more than a pound of very tender sirloin steak. Very good. I'm a ribeye fan so had to try theirs. It was very good. Cooked properly, with nice seasoning from the kitchen. No need for steak sauce. Beans and coleslaw were perfect as the sides. Large steak so I took some to the camper and enjoyed it the next day. Having just been to a winery, we continued with Steel Grill's wine choices and it could have been better. We ordered a particular Pinot Noir. When it came, it wasn't the vineyard ordered. I asked the server about that and was told "it's the same price so we subbed it". Not happy but didn't object. Other than the wine fiasco, we thoroughly enjoyed the meal and can happily recommend this with reservations about the wine list. read more

The burgers used to be the best I'v ever had, UNTIL they started using a MUCH less quality of beef. Now it's just an expensive burger I can make at home for about $12 less. The fries also used to be great, now they are just ordinary fries. read more

My family and I are traveling through the area and we wanted a good steak. We stopped here and it did not disappoint. The food took a while but that was to be expected as they had a sign that said food would be about a 45 minute wait. The restaurant was pleasant and inviting. Our server was very friendly. The food was better than we expected. I had one of the best sirloins that I have ever had. The coconut shrimp was fantastic! And their baked beans are amazing. It was a bit pricier than I thought it was going to be but the food quality definitely was worth it. If I ever come through the area again, I will come back here for sure! Food is... good, but definitely overpriced a little bit and many of the servers are too special and pretty to talk to anyone that maybe isn't. If you aren't some old white dude that they already know and like, you'll get okay service at best. Likely, you'll be ignored and will wait AT LEAST 40 minutes to have your order taken. That's if it's not busy. Be prepared to have someone roll their eyes at you if you ask any questions about anything. You will NOT get refills of any kind unless you can wave your server down. If you only go for drinks, you won't have anywhere to sit. They have regulars (which is awesome for them) that take up the entire bar ALL DAY LONG. Avoid this place like it was the plague!! If I was able to give a zero star I would! I came in this evening to have dinner, I sat at the bar next to the kitchen, what I witnessed and saw in the kitchen was beyond disgusting! When I arrived there there was a bucket of chicken wings on the ground in the kitchen, I was there an hour, so in that time there is no telling how long that bucket was there. Being in the food industry keeping any type of meat out of the refrigerator and/or freezer specially chicken every minutes, that goes The meat starts collecting bacteria, hence food poisoning. Not only was a bucket of chicken on the floor I saw one of the cooks take the top off the chicken put the top on the floor unload the chicken into the fryer and then put the top back on to the container, the part that was on the floor was on the inside of the chicken container. On top of that there was a brush on the ground I saw I'm assuming a cook pick it up and clean the grill with the brush placing the brush back on the ground in the kitchen. Not only is that disgusting they're using the wrong type of brush to clean the grill equipment. Although the cooks were wearing rubber gloves not sure when the last time they changed them but, I saw a cook sneeze into his hand hence the black glove and continue to cook without changing his gloves. When I complained about the above descriptions, the bartender went to the back informed the staff members and they removed everything out, the bucket of chicken and the broom replacing it with ice putting chicken into an ice box. I found this place to have no integrity and standards in the kitchen at least. My thought is to call the health department and have them deal with it. Prior to the description above I ordered a cheeseburger as everything was going on as I witnessed I was unable to finish my food, adding my burger tasted like sawdust. The young lady at the bar was courteous cheerful and welcoming, but, that does not take the place of the disgusting and lack of structure and nastiness in the kitchen. The manager never came out to see me to talk about the issue. Avoid eating at this place at all costs, I could guarantee you if you were to go into their refrigerators or and or freezers they would be expired food that they are feeding their customers... it would not surprise me! read more

This place came highly recommended for a great steak....We waited over an hour for our food and our server NEVER addressed the long wait. I ordered Prime Rib medium well and even said "barely any pink" I received 2 pieces of steak. The first piece (small) was perfect then the 2nd piece was bleeding all over my plate and was 3" thick and VERY raw. I brought it to the servers attention and she didn't seem to care AT ALL! Oh my word! Such a delicious meal. I mean. I am on keto so just steak and veggies but I did cheat and tried the jam. All amazing. Green beens were fresh and seem to come for personal garden. On Sept. 5, 2020 I visited Scb/Gering for my father's funeral mass. My son and I wanted to try the Steel Grill restaurant. There were eight of us, including children. When I called the location I asked about social distancing and masks. I was extremely disappointed when the server told me they weren't required masks when making and serving our food. They also did not practice social distancing. Since I live in eastern Nebraska where it is critical to take the steps to prevent transmission of the COVID-19 virus, this was disturbing. I had just lost my uncle to COVID-19 as well. Restaurants in other parts of Nebraska are diligent about keeping customers safe in a pandemic. I requested the server not seat customers at the table behind us if possible, since the restaurant was not busy. The server told me that she couldn't guarantee that. I was puzzled that the restaurant wasn't following state guidelines for restaurants in terms of preventing the spread of the virus. Even the hotel where we stayed was requiring masks. I told the server this information. She seemed surprised. Not sure why. I understand that you don't have as many cases of COVID-19 in your area, however it seems prudent to follow current state guidelines to keep customers safe. Came here during a Saturday husker game.. really cool place! It's huge and the environment is fun. They have lots of tvs, so we had a great set up. The fried green beans were really good. I also had the chicken salad.. not bad, chicken was pretty dry. The fun part of the experience was the piano player every time the huskers scored a touchdown!
