There is something nostalgically comforting about how bland their food is, without actually being bad. It reminds me of going to Taco Bell with my Dad on occasion, in the 1980's when I was a little kid (my Mother would never have allowed such a trip had she known.) Back in those days when soft tacos vs. crispy tacos were as "wacky" as things got on the menu. I'd eat a burrito with what I think may have been actual beans inside as I listened to George Micheal's "Faith" played over the intercom. The things that are good about Taco Casa our also in a larger sense kind of depressing. Like they use real cheese on all there foodstuffs and for fast food these days your like "Wow, real cheese on everything, how exciting." Most of the vegetables (olives, lettuce, tomatoes) taste fresh, which is nice (and again sad that it is nice), but the meat and beans are a blah afterthought. When you ask for spicy sauce they actually do put a sauce in it the food that taste like something they maybe made in-house and is a little bit spicy, I even can see actual green chilies in the sauce. Taco Casa is a nice serviceable fast food taco joint. It only has ground beef and beans so there's that. No chicken, steak or other proteins for the inside of your taco or burrito. The beef has a decent flavor, it's seasoned, but not overly so. It's drier than Taco Bell's meat, which I prefer. Also, you get a lot of it. The soft and crunchy tacos are large, the ones I got were much larger than your typical Taco Bell, Bueno, or Maya tacos. I ordered three different items and found they were all pretty much the same, but with slight variations. This is not a surprise given the lack of variety on the menu. I addition to getting a lot of meat, they pile on the cheese and veggies. The food was hot and fresh, and it was a good value. The hot sauce wasn't super hot, but it was good. The good: Food tastes good, superior to most fast-food joints. Not sure it holds up to Taco Cabana, and it definitely doesn't hold a candle to most sit-down Mexican food places. Ok... this is along the lines of Taco Bell, but they have some special differences. My sister in law, Marsha, was so thrilled when she came down from Muskogee to get her hands on some of this good stuff. They have good deals and a few uniquenesses: addictive tortilla crisps laden with cinnamon sugar; some really flavorful iced tea...and just some finger lick'n good entrees and affordable too! This is where we get Mexican food when we don't want to go to our normal sit down restaurant. It's good fast food Tex mex. the food is good portion sizes and it is fairly speedy service. The tortillas are soft (with the soft tacos) not tough. The prices are decent for what you get. read more

This is a fast food place--but it's a good one. From what I have been told this is a chain in Texas with maybe a couple of stores in Oklahoma. I believe the one in Norman is the closest one to the metro. I just moved from Norman after being there for fifteen years and I have to say this place and Pizza Shuttle are what I miss the most. I didn't say I was classy or anything. One of the pluses of the Casa is that they seem to use real meat--I know it's shocking, but I am pretty sure that's the real deal. It's also not overally salty food. It's not healthy by any means and they have that weird yellow cheese for their nachoes--btw I have no problem with said yellow cheese but some people do. I like it. This is probably my favorite taco fast food place that Ive tried so far. The tacos are amazing and they are stuffed with meat, lettuce and loads of cheese. The tacos are a bit pricy but worth it because of how stuffed they are. You can sometimes catch the 4 for $4 deal which is a great deal. The super nachos are awesome! If you eat in the restaurant they put it all together for you but if you order it To Go then they pack it so you can build your own when you get home and I love that they do it like that so they are not soggy when you get home. The taco burger is really good too but its extra if you add cheese, which a little secret that I will do, IF im ordering one, I will order 2 tacos and a taco burger with no cheese and when I get my food, I take a little cheese off of each taco and put on my burger since they give you so much anyway. No extra charge lol. The bean burritos and taco salads are great too. Ive never had a bad experience at Taco Casa. Its always been great. The $5 deals on Sundays are awesome. read more

Located just east of Norman high school on Main Street, this taco Casa succeed in hitting the mark where many other taco place is miss the mark. So many of them try to do to many things, adding many items to the menus. Here's where taco Casa is superior. They just keep it simple. But in doing that they make really great soft tacos hard tacos and there's supreme burrito is not to be missed. Do yourself a favor skip all the others and just try it and you'll see. Pleasantly surprised when I stopped by here one evening for an order to go. I've passed by here many times and never considered eating here because I figured it was just another taco place. But dang, it was so much better than the popular fast food chains. I got several tacos, and they were larger, had more ingredients piled on them and had much more flavor than the Bell or Bueno.
