We came during the day Thursday. Not to busy so seated immediately. Waitress gave us good service. They have a Fajita platter that is always good. It has Spinach, mushrooms, chicken, onion, peppers,. For my side I order the steamed beans and dump them on top. Put some jalapeños or hot sauce and you have a great meal. All the food is good here. The corn relish is sweet and oh so good. The waiter went and brought her a new plate. This time it came with only one taco. She asked where the other taco was. The waiter said it was only supposed to come with one and asked if she wanted to order a second. Why would there be a meal with only 1 small street taco for $14? One of her sides was steamed corn. It wasn't streamed corn, it was boiled corn swimming in water. She didn't like it. I ordered the birria tacos. I'm a huge birria tacos fan. These were very far from the best I've ever had. We have been here on numerous occasions, and two of the things that they offer that make them stand out are the corn relish and the glazed sopapillas. These items do not come standard at other restaurants, and both are excellent. We have been to a couple of their locations, and this visit was good, but maybe not quite on par with what we have experienced before. Service was a tad slower, and the food was good, but not as great as usual. It seemed to have been plated in a hurry. I very much enjoy dining here, so I am sure we will be back. read more

The restaurant only had a handful of customers so I feel our table could've been better tended to. We had to wait to eat because we couldn't get anyone to Bring tortillas. My wife and I are regulars at Hidalgos, practically next door to Alfredo's, so we always told ourselves we would give Alfredo's a try. We did that today and all I can say is satisfying our curiosity wasn't worth it...at all. We were there at 430, well before the evening rush, and our high hopes were immediately let down by the very mediocre chips and salsa. We both thought of the cheese/salsa selections offered next door and we felt a cold blanket of sadness start to settle over us. Not to mention, they served the worst salsa I've ever had. And brother, I've had some bad salsa.... Still, ever optimistic, we said "let's wait for the food, it may be better" so we waited...and waited...and waited...JUST TO ORDER. My wife had made the cardinal mistake of telling the waitress "we need another minute" which of course turned into 20 minutes. Seeing our future, we were about to leave when she finally showed up to take our order. So I'll skip ahead past the part where the three tables seated after us got served first. Finally we see our waitress carrying a tray with food and heading our way...only to stop at the table behind us and put our order on their table before being corrected by the folks who immediately saw this was NOT their order. Finally the food was sat before us and ever so quickly, our waitress was off to her next adventure. My chile relleno was ok. I mean, I've had worse. But if there is one thing my wife will not abide, it's cold food. And hers was cold. Not hot, not lukewarm, but cold. No waitress coming back to see if everything is ok, so finally we caught her eye and beckoned her over. She did hustle to the back to microwave my wife's food at least. So there's that. About this time, without saying a word, they changed servers on us. Moved her to another section. No notice, nothing...just a new server who we assumed was helping out. He at least was trying, although my empty water glass remained empty between the both of them. Ok, one last chance here. My wife said yes to a sopapilla....and by golly it was hot!!! It also tasted like it had been cooked in old fish oil...there was a nasty aftertaste that made us leave it on the plate. So curiosity sated...if not our appetites. Really generic Americanized Mexican food. Queso is awful, so don't bother. Salsa is bland but chips are good and ask for the relish! Pickled veggies and the sweet corn relish are both much better than the salsa and queso given to eat person once you sit down. Service is fast. I had the steak fajita, the portion was large, lots of onion, little green pepper, thick pieces of steak, but there wasn't much flavor, other than lots of pepper, taste. Nothing like when I got back home. What I did like was all of the complementary sides, such as cheese dip salsa chips, tostadas. The queso dip was OK. Nothing that I was used to. The salsa was OK. What can I say about the drinks? We had the Hawaiian margarita it was superb. Chico did a fantastic job on making our drinks. There was plenty of food left over that we took home. This place has gone downhill over the years. I'm sitting in my car after having JUST eaten here with my kids and to say I'm thoroughly dissatisfied is an understatement. Our waiter clearly had no server experience, which is fine. But to leave us sitting at the table for 23 minutes without a word is insane. To wait on other tables besides our table is insane. I ordered the seafood platter and when he asked how the food was I told him "I don't particularly care for the fish" he said verbatim "oh...okay" and walked off. Didn't offer me anything else to eat or to replace it at the very least. I've been a server for years and I'm not ignorant to the ways of the serving/restaurant industry. High prices and awful staff. Wow! Amazing! My husband and I agree we will definitely be back. Our normal go to for Mexican was The Lazy Donkey. Well not anymore. The Mexican corn is our fav. The wait staff is amazing and polite. Our waiter was super helpful and made sure we were satisfied. Our cups were never empty. Their food is also a big plus. It is so tasty and you can tell they take their time to perfect it. The homemade tortillas with chips, salsa and queso was great! I did get the bowl. Pretty much in my head I was going in with the thought of chipotle. The rice is just plain white rice. My chicken was underneath the rice. Next time I'll ask the rice to be on the bottom then the chicken and so on. So take note. Their sopapillas are delicious. So light! So overly greasy. This place is not the same as it used to be. My wife and I frequent this place often and the last two times my wife has had to watch me eat my food because her order was wrong. The first time, my wife sent her food back because the vegetable look old, the server even admitted that the vegetables looked old to her too. Then why serve it!?!?!?! They took half off and we moved down the road. Last Sunday, we visited again. My wife asked for no sour cream. Guess what she got? Hope you guessed sour cream. She told the waitress, the waitress "oh, let me take it back." My wife insist I eat so my food doesn't get cold and then I finish and finally her order arrived. Waitress says "just so you know, I wrote no sour cream on the ticket." Way to drive the bus right over your kitchen staff sweet heart. She didn't apologize, didn't comp it. Nothing. She never checked in on us. We had to waive her down. She brought my wife her sopapilla right after she brought her the new entree. MmMmMm... cold sopapilla. This is all going on while a customer, who I only assume is an employee, is yelling "waitress, refill please" behind us as and jokes around with the staff and walks behind the drink station to refill her drink. Said customer also tried to get a alcohol beverage but kudos to the bartender for saying no because it would risk her liquor license. We saluted this place, which in our family means, no more. Food is hot, wait staff is really great, and they are very accommodating of large last-minute parties. That is about all of the good things I can say about this place. The food is so bland, and it takes FOREVER to be served. The place is super crowded, the portions are not worth the money, and the decor is not very modern. I will not be coming back because it's not worth it for me, but they get plenty of business all of the time, so they won't miss my business. I wish they would tweak the food first and foremost to be appetizing. Alfredo's is a fun Mexican food restaurant. They have the environment and decor down. You immediately get the feel of a good Mexican Restaurant when you walk in. They offer chips, queso, salsa, spicy salsa, relish, corn salsa, and tortillas all at no cost. We enjoyed the chips, salsa, and queso. We went to eat here with another couple and we both ordered the fajitas for two. They got chicken and steak, and we ordered the chicken fajitas. You get four sides with this order. I ordered a double salad, which didn't really look like a salad but more like sides of lettuce cheese and tomato on a plate. The fajitas however were delicious and the tortillas were really good. I would visit Alfredo's once a week if I lived in the OKC metro-plex. Why? Well for one the Mexican Street Tacos was AMAZING! Unlike the typical fajita's grilled to a crisp, the Mexican Street Tacos were cooked just right with Jalapenos, Guacamole, Cilantro, Onion, and Tomatillo Salsa. For my side I choose the fried beans. No complaints as they were delicious. The meals come with a free sopaipilla for desert. Also you won't go thirsty or require a refill here as the glasses are like 7-11 super gulp humongous! The service was excellent! I do not remember the name of our waitress but she served my family on Saturday 2/18/12 around 6pm in the corner table by the restroom entrance. She checked on us every 5 to 10 minutes. I also loved the Mexican corn! The corn was fresh and sweet with cilantro! A word of advice, make a RESERVATION before hand as there's usually a wait. My son and I had dinner at Alfredo's on a Sunday. It was crowded, at least 80% full, but we got right in. Almost as soon as our butts hit the chairs we had chips, salsa, and queso. The chips are standard, but the salsa was a lot chunkier than typical salsa you see at these joints. It had a nice freshness as well, I liked it. The cheese sauce was standard as well, I added some salsa and jalapenos (from the relish) to mine. I went with the chicken fajita chimichanga with Mexican style corn and "Mexican" mashed potatoes. I put the "Mexican" in quotes because these potatoes were basic mashed potatoes (skin on, which is a plus) with cheese melted on top. I was expecting some peppers or flavor somewhere. This was the only weak part of the meal. The corn was good, flavored with cream and cheese. I could have used some more flavor, maybe some seasoning, but I'd get it again. The chimichanga is a decent size. It's not the largest I've ever seen, but it certainly filled me up. The fajita meat was juicy and plentiful, and they used some dark meat, which is my favorite. My only complaint about the chimichanga was they didn't fry it long enough. So, it wasn't crispy in a couple of spots. But, 30 or so more seconds in the fryer and you'd have something here. My boy had a cheese quesadilla and we added fajita chicken to it. I think that cost a buck, maybe 2. This is served with 2 sides and of course the set up. It's a nice size quesadilla, he is 4 and didn't finish it. But, it would have been a good sized meal for him. There are maybe 4-6 options on the kids' menu, and the prices aren't crazy. Considering the chips/queso/salsa/tortillas you get gratis, it's a great deal. For dessert, we tried one of each sopapilla: cinnamon/sugar and glazed. The cinnamon/sugar was standard. It was fried dough with cinnamon and sugar on top, so that's usually not a bad thing. I didn't care for the glaze, the glaze wasn't sweet enough I think. Never thought I'd say that about glaze. I wouldn't order that again. Service was FANTASTIC. Drinks were refilled when half full, people constantly removing empty plates or bringing us more sauce. But, they didn't make us feel rushed. At some tex mex joints (Ted's in Norman, for example) they have good service, but it's clear they want you to eat and get out so they can turn the table over. At Alfredo's, we felt very welcome. I would absolutely return, can't believe I have driven past it so many times and didn't stop... UPDATE: After eating in at Alfredo's, we got it to go one evening. Love their take out service. They have a dedicated area for take out, so you aren't at the bar or hostess station with all of the in restaurant diners. Also, they open every item to make sure it was correct and ensure that your order is complete. Finally, you get pints of queso and salsa and whatever else (relish, hot sauce, tortillas, etc) you request. If you call your order in, it's an easy in and out. read more

My daughter and I stopped by for lunch and were excited to see how Mexican food in OK compares to what we're accustomed to in NorCal. The service was prompt and courteous. The restaurant was quite busy and clean. The staging area was not quite so clean, especially the floor, but that's to be expected during a rush. I ordered two crispy tacos but received two enchiladas. The server corrected the mistake very quickly. My beer was served in a frosty glass w/ crushed lime and was the best part of the meal (3.2% isn't their fault). My main complaint is that my meal was so incredibly salty, which is common in restaurants that do not rely on fresh herbs/spices for flavor. The food quality was just bland and canned (and why even serve canned cheesy stuff? Gross). I wasn't even comfortable giving my dog any of the leftover meat bc of the ridiculous amount of sodium. It only takes one bad experience to ruin my opinion. Used to be our "favorite" place to eat Mexican. Tonight however I placed an online order which was accepted and my credit card charged. Approximately 30 minutes later I get a notification that my order has been cancelled and my card will be refunded in 5-7 business days?!?! I called the restaurant to find out they decided to close an hour early. That's fine. If you are going to close early then don't accept orders and don't charge credit cards and don't wait 30 minutes to tell your customers. Horrible customer experience. read more
