We have been here many times. The food is good and we've not had a problem. Today I ordered 2 asada tacos and was told if I ordered them that way I would have to pay for the set up. He said I could do a salad instead of rice and beans. So I did. The service is lacking. They never offered to refill drinks and we asked for more chips and salsa. When we went to pay, it was $42 for both meals. I paid, but when I figured it up, we paid for the set up. They don't give you a check. They just ring you up at the register. I should have asked for a receipt. It left a bad taste in my mouth. I think we will find a new place. read more

Awesome food, awesome service... The people are nice in the food is delicious. They serve a nice cold beer and a big glass with salt around the rim! Sufficient parking. Friendly service. Homely atmosphere. Fair pricing. Fantastic menu. After you're seated you're given very delicious chips, yummy queso and salsa to start. Mediocre food with poor customer service. My daughters beef fajitas were decent. Hubby's chili rellano was good. I order botanas with a side of limes as well as a water with limes. My botanas were cold, I had to ask for water twice, and limes 4 times. On the 3rd time I was given 1 lemon wedge. Ended up taking 5 times requesting a side on limes to receive more than 1 lime wedge for water and botanas. Woman's rest room was without toilet paper & paper towels. read more

This place is authentic Mexican food. We were headed back to okc from Dallas and wanted to stop for dinner. After reading some of the reviews we were a little concerned but realized some of the complaints were ridiculous, so we decided to try it out. I ordered the Chile Relleno, my husband ordered the asada tacos, our children got burritos, tamale, and a enchilada. We all cleaned our plates. The refried beans had a lime taste which was delicious, they were obviously made with lard (that is the standard way of making refried beans), they were made perfectly. I will definitely add lime to my refried beans next time as it really brightens the dish. The service was great as well. We really enjoyed this restaurant. read more

Unimpressed, to say the least... One night a week, Guadalupe's serves half-price food. We saw the sign so decided to give it a try. Upon entering, we were unimpressed by the not-very-clean decor. It seemed dank and dark inside and badly in need of a fresh coat of paint. The waitress was unable to answer even the simplest questions about the food on the menu. For instance, "Do your beans contain lard?" The response was, "I don't think so," which we found unacceptable. Either they do or they don't. Certain dietary restrictions require that these types of questions be answered in a truthful manner. Saying that you don't THINK something has lard in it is sort of like being a LITTLE bit pregnant. One would think that the management would educate the staff in order that they be informed enough to answer the customer's questions about the food. The service was very good, and it was fast. The food, however, was another story. The chips were very, very thin and quite greasy. When we tried to dip them into the guacamole dip, they simply broke off, so we ended up having to put the dip onto each chip with a fork...but again, they were so greasy that we soon gave up. The food lacked color and texture. It was presented in big, runny globs that all ran together. They used unripened tomatoes that were orange and hard, and the lettuce tasted very strong, like lettuce that isn't fresh. It appeared to be pale green iceberg lettuce, but we weren't really sure and again, the waitress couldn't' even answer THAT question. One would think that the owner could find higher quality ingredients, such as a dark red tomato or some deep green leaf lettuce. The cheese left behind big pools of grease. We barely touched our food. The drinks were pretty good, and everything was reasonably priced. The air conditioner was cranked up to the cat sterilization level, however, which made us uncomfortable, and the women's restroom was absolutely filthy. It sort of grossed us out being there. The owner needs to re-paint inside and to get rid of some of the clutter. He needs to make sure that when waitstaff isn't waiting on tables, they spend a little time wiping down the tables and creating a cleaner, more appealing atmosphere. I don't think we'll be going back to this place any time soon. read more

THIRD TIME WAS DEFINITELY NOT THE CHARM! As the title would suggest I have given this establishment multiple chances to prove my first impression wrong. Unfortunately, each visit was increasing worse than the one before. Tonight's visit will be absolutely be our last! After enduring another very mediocre meal served by a less than polite wait staff we went to the counter to pay when I noticed on a shelf behind the counter a ceramic AMERICAN BALD EAGLE lying on its back sucking on a whiskey bottle. As a proud American Marine Corp veteran I was offended by this imagine. I politely tried to explain to the owners son that I found this depiction offensive. He responded by asking why. I then reminded him that the American Bald Eagle is one of our countries patriotic symbols and it deserved to be treated more respectfully. He than said " what's the big deal it's just a stupid bird and it's been here for 9 years and nobody ever said a thing about it". His father than said that we were in a Mexican restaurant so that shouldn't matter. I than reminded him that while his restaurant was indeed a Mexican restaurant it was still in America! My suggestion is if you find yourself in Purcell, Oklahoma craving Mexican food drive north 13 short miles to Norman, Oklahoma and give Ted's Escondido or Chuy's a try. They are both much cleaner, with a much higher quality in both food and service! read more

We have been going here for years. When I took my mom on Tuesday we asked for more cheese dip. ( witch we eat with the chips and the meal) after the 3rd cup they cut os off said it was only 1 complimentary cheese and salsa. Confused cause we have NEVER been told this before, we said we would still like more. They finally brought some and said that those small one scoop cups were $1 each. I have no problem paying for the cheese I wanted for my meal!!!!! Then when my 63 yr old mom paid the check the owner preceded to tell her the he was loosing money over her "extra cheese" and she had no idea what it was like running a business. I usually choose this place because it's only 5 or 6 blocks from where I live I have had several issues with this establishment the first being, in the past, I had gastric by pass surgery and can only eat extremely small portions. I was having dinner with my husband. they put chips queso and salsa on the table before we even ordered. He ordered the beef fajitas and I chose to order the beef chimichanga from the a la carte. When I did this the owner informed me that I had to pay for the chips and salsa since I wasn't ordering a full dinner now mind you my husband just purchased the large beef fajitas, I informed him of my medical condition and that it was impossible for me to eat a chimichanga dinner with rice and beans that's why I ordered just the chimi. He didn't care and the charged like over 6.00 for the chips and salsa that should free!!!this Tuesday there was another issue. This review is already long.....I will not be going back to this establishment. I would recommend Bravos or Mimi's, their service and food quality is better... guess I'll be driving a mile or too farther for Mexican but at least the service will be better and the food too. read more

The reviews aren't very good but I have no idea why. The warm salsa with quac in it was surprisingly good. I had spinach chicken and pablano enchiladas and my coworkers had a quesadilla and carne asada tacos. Omg. All of it was on point. The meat was so flavorful. I can't say how good the carne asada meat was. They somehow infused it with pure magic. And the meat that came in the quesadilla literally melted in your mouth and the flavor. Uh. So good. Not just the worst mexican food, it is the worst FOOD I have ever had. There was no seasoning and even the queso was bland (which they thankfully only allowed one serving). The sweet tea was basically water with sugar in it. The tables and bathrooms were filthy. There were only 3 of us and our bill was $65 for lunch portions!!! Food is really, really good, but the service is HORRIBLE! Today, when I ordered my drinks (a BudLight and a water w/ extra lemon), the owner brought out my beer, but not my water. I then asked the other owner/manager for a glass of water w/ extra lemon. She brought my water, but no lemon! Soo, the third time I asked for extra lemon, she brought me 2 tiny slivers of lemon. Then, about half way through my meal, I was out of water, chips, salsa, cheese sauce and tortillas (my meal was fajitas)! After waiting about 15 minutes, I got up and filled my own water glass up. Not once did they come check on me or my table! I called the owner over to ask for more salsa, cheese sauce and chips, and he appeared to be frustrated with my request! After rubbing his forehead and shaking his head, he sighed and went to get me the items I requested! There were only about 5 tables seated, so they weren't busy! They truly made me feel like I was inconveniencing them, well, until they brought me my check! Also, they were bussing tables and then handling food without washing their hands! The female (not sure if she's the owner or the manager) parks in the handicap parking space right outside the front door! Just horrible customer service! Visited this place 3/16/21 as we live in Lex and its close. We always wondered why no one is there except for on special days well now we know why!! the food and service was horrible. There was no wait but a packed house, we were seated promptly and awaited someone to come to our table. The older lady comes to the table with Salsa, queso and chips and menu then ran off. Man came back, took our drink order and disappeared too. We attempted several times to get tortillas while we went over the menu, no success. Then lady and young kid come over, shes just standing there, we asked him for tortillas he looked at us crazy, and said well we don't do that. I said well let us look over the menu, we then asked the older man for tortillas and he said no, hurry and order, we have people waiting Me and my family looked shocked, i was ready to go my husband said give them a chance. So older man comes to table and asked if we were ready to order, I said yes and was gonna wing it because what we wanted was not listed on the menu, i attempt to freestyle our order when he stopped me and said no, you order number! Im like uhhh well I don't see it, told him come back so we could find something. We place our order and asked for 2 togo orders to be prepared while we eat. They said okay. Got our food it was horrible, I only ate some because I was starving. So we decide to leave, tell them we're ready for our ticket and togo order, the kid says well you'll have to wait, we have orders in front of you. So now we're sitting and waiting. After several minutes I go up to the counter to pay, the older man says your orders are not ready sit down, I'm like really. My 10 year old daughter says first they were rushing us to go, now they wont let us leave so we get up from the table to demand our ticket. The kid says my dad has to write your ticket, Im like what, our ticket should have been ready. So the older man comes to the register, writes down a few things on the back of a ticket, then asked me what I had, wrote that down, went mad crazy on the calculator and gave us a total that was half of what it should have been. I never ever do this, but I left $0.00 for a tip, had to give a star, but they don't deserve it read more

I moved up to slaughterville area outside of Purcell from TX. So far this is the best and closest Latin style food I've found. Price point is so good for what you get. The beef quesadillas are a dream same with the beef Chile relleno! My guy is loving their seafood options also! read more

When you ask the locals, "what's the best place to eat" and every one of them says, go to Guadalupe's.". You go to Guadalupe's. Small, quaint and friendly staff. Worse excuse for Mexican food I have ever come across. Wife and I always miss the Tuesday half price deal they have due to living in another town and we don;t get to Purcell very often on Tuesday. We had to wait for a table. Once seated the waiter came for the drink order and we both said water. He informed us that to get the half price offer we had to order fountain drinks. So I had a DP and wife a tea. The tea didn't qualify my wife her half price. Ok, the food came and it had no flavor what so ever. It was all I could do to get it down. When i went to pay out the owner kept saying cash and I kept handing him my debit card to no avail. Finally he pointed to a little sign in front of the register saying if your order was under 25 dollars you must pay in cash. I told him to ring up 25 dollars about 4 less that the 25. He acted offended then asked me where the tip was. I told him the food and service wasn't deserving a tip and then he followed me to the door and said he would get me the next time. I told him there wouldn't be a next time. So beware the owner is two faced and will cheat you. read more

I have been overcharged several times, service used to be very fast and now not so much unless you are the friends of the owners.
