Looks are deceiving. We THOUGHT we were getting ready to GO IN....NOT! Pastor Tacos were DRY & ABSOLUTELY NO FLAVOR! Not even the salsas helped. The Chicken Tacos were ONLY helped with the Salsa Verdes, a mix of the regular and spicy & Guacamole! The Guac on its own is a bland, creamy (like baby food), pile of green waste. No garlic, Cilantro or onions to be found! HAD TO add salt, limons & pepper to make it edible, to add to the insipid Chicken Tacos. The Chicken did have a touch of salt and Cotija, which was it's saving grace, along with the Beef. Love the Corn Tortillas but the Chicken made them too wet, PRIOR TO adding salsa and Guac. OMG - If you are going to be staying at Vidanta, this is the place to eat!!! We ate here 6 out of the 7 days at the resort. You can do lunch or dinner with so many different options. My favorite meat is Pastor and I LOVED the tacos Al Pastor! I didn't have to leave the resort to go and find some great tacos. I would give the tacos a 5 out 5 and I probably at 20+ tacos al pastor during our time at Vidanta. We also got the Poblano taco each time just to switch it up and it was the bomb. Their Churros were great as well at the end of the meal. Comes with chocolate, Carmel and strawberry sauces to dip them in. They have al pastor, chorizo, chicken, steak tacos, quesadillas, burritos, tortas, alembres - like a fajita and my favorite- churros. It's located in the third floor outside the the art gallery. We had dinner here and I enjoyed my al pastor and chorizo and churros. They also have a drink cart where your margaritas are made fresh. They also have an ice cream cart serving Mexican ice cream. Favorite place to dine out on the Vidanta resort grounds! The chorizo melted cheese was amazing! Carne asada tacos as well and the alambres con asada were like fajitas with melted cheese. We had the cheesecake both nights we went and ordered 7 slices total by the end of the trip. To say it's amazing is an understatement. My friend found Taco Break while she was shopping at La Plaza. I was late since my "tour/sales pitch" lasted much longer than promised. I joined her at the bar and started off with some chips and guacamole. I couldn't really eat any of the accruements, as I'm a wimp and they were too spicy, but it was a nicely displayed assortment. I ordered a couple of street tacos-chicken & al pastor. I liked the cilantro and red onions on the al pastor. My snack was just okay for me. The tacos were kind of dry, but since I didn't load them up with salsa, I guess that was my fault. My friend raved about her lunch though. Taco Break is outside upstairs, and it was a great view. Fast & Delicious! This place has beautiful scenery as it is located on a balcony/patio overlooking the resorts property. I highly suggest getting any of their tacos, they are to die for! For vegetarians, the Poblano chili paper taco is tasty and flavorful. My other favorites would be the chorizo and pork tacos. They both have such great flavor; plus, the pork is constantly rotating on a skewer in their kitchen which makes it even better! Not a taco person? My friend and I needed something quick and easy for the family's. I remembered Taco Break from when I was here last year. The atmosphere is relaxed and on the patio of La Playa. You will need to take the elevator to the third level because there are no stairs... well if you feel you need to take them, they are located on the far end of the building pat the restrooms. There is limited seating, but I think the best place to sit is at the bar, because you can watch them make everything in front of you. We ordered the El Pastor tacos and some chicken tacos. There is about six options. There are a lot of side dish options that would please any visitor. If you're planning on visiting Taco Break. Know that there isn't many signs. The restrooms are not that close and you have to take the elevator that only fits about six people. Other than that enjoy the taste of an iconic Mexican street food. read more

We just got back from a week at Vidanta & wished we found Taco Break earlier in our trip! The tacos were under $2 each - a steal at this resort. We tried the Frijoles - super filling and delicious. Our favorite taco was the Al Pastor (pork). The chicken and steak had a lot of meat, but were a little bland (easy fix, just add salsa). It is located in La Plaza on the 3rd floor - not an ocean view, but you can see the mountains in the distance. Good prices, good margaritas & good service! This place was very very good. I thought it was odd that they did not have rice here. If you look at the menu and think wow this is cheap. That's because you can't eat just one. I ordered a taco and a burrito and they were both pretty small. So I had to order another burrito. I had chicken and steak and they were both very flavorful with the sauces they give you. They bring this thing to your table that has two hot sauces, 2 mild, pickled vegetables and a bean dip. I put both mild sauces in my taco and burritos. They're open ended so pretty messy. My daughter got two bean and cheese burritos and gobbled them up. We both got a drink but the drinks don't get refilled or asked if we want anything else. This place is located on one of the top floors of the place where all the shopping is done. As my party was not aware that water wasn't free they just all bought it even though I tried to warn them. The store on the bottom floor was less expensive for bottled water. The food was pretty good. The receipt stated the server received a commission if we bought certain items which was not billed to us, hopefully. But they didn't try to upsell us on the items so we just made sure it wasn't charged to us. read more

The food was really good! We got the melted cheese with chorizo, and the beef, chicken, and al pastor tacos. They have aguas frescas as well. Great spot with great shop set up and music. No reservations needed. Each table gets a nice variety of salads and chips to start off with. The plain melted cheese was out of this world good. My family owns a timeshare at the Grand Luxxe. We go every Christmas week with 10 people, including 4 children aged 4-10. Tacos Break is located across the street from the Mayan resorts, but is part of the resort. This is one of our absolute favorite places to eat, especially at lunch. Their tacos are amazing, as well as their other DF style street food items like the Volcanes. They bring out a myriad of salsas, ranging from mild to truly fiery! Absolutely delicious. We ate here two or three times during our stay. You can sit at the counter and watch them cook or get a table. The prices are reasonable, and the tacos are excellent! I had a few varieties during our visits. One was the pastor, and I also had chicken and maybe a beef. In any case, they were all excellent. I liked how they brought out a variety of salsas and sauces to try. Some spicy, some mild. They added a lot to the flavor of the tacos, and I especially enjoyed the creamy green sauce. On our last night we ordered some churros for dessert, which we all enjoyed. The al pastor tacos are very reasonably priced and one of our favorite foods on the entire resort. They are small, so you'll likely need 4-7 per person. The burritos are also very small and are done well, but the beans and rice suffocate the wonderful flavorings of the al pastor meat. The churros are freshly made and were outstanding as well. Tacos Break is a real gem at the Vidanta - and most likley the best restaurant on property! This delicious taco spot was previously on the Vidanata golf course, but was recently located to the 3rd floor of the La Plaza. The La Plaza is also a fine establishment for meats, cheese, and other delicious items. A family tradition of ours was to consume copious tacos during golf outings. This tradition of ours has been altered to consume tacos during our sun bathing days due to the new location - which happens to be beautiful (overlooking the Vidanta property!). All the tacos and menu offerings are out of this world. The Al Pastor tacos are probably the best in Mexico. I get a little excited just thinking about the al pastor spinning and sizzling and crackling.....and that little pineapple on top....DELICIOUS! I would vacation at Vidanta purely for Tacos Break - I love it, and you will too! Grab yourself some Al Pastors and cerveza and consider yourself in heaven. read more

Okay, we are staying at this resort property where you either cook in your suite or are hostage to whatever choices are on the property. Not too easy to get off and around the actual community - so we were pleasantly surprised to find a good, affordable and by gosh seemingly authentic taco joint on the grounds. They don't double layer the corn tortillas like we are used to back in N Cali where we typically get our local tacos at home - but otherwise for $1 to $1.50 each, with table service and a nice assortment of salsas - hard to complain ! Glad they were "on the island". We can't do another seaside Mexican buffet (although the Thursday night one w entertainment was damn tasty too). Go and enjoy !! read more
