Very cool place, all outdoors. Great service just be prepared to pay in cash in case the place is feeling like it. There will not be a sign outside warning you you'll need cash. The food was the best in that area and one of the best for our 2 week trip. I don't think they take reservations because everyone in line was waiting - first come first serve style. We were a small group so the wait was less than 30 min but a group of 10 waited an hour. If that's you, just head to the bar or grab a drink from OXXO (711) next door while you wait. We have been coming to El Barracuda since its very first week it was open years and years ago. One thing that has not changed in that time is the taste and quality of the food. To start out with drinks, I love the blackberry cocktail (non alcoholic) and it's alcoholic variant is great enjoyed by my family. They are very unique and tasty and feature a lot of real blackberry in the drinks. I highly reccomend trying these out. We ordered the red snapper, the grilled octopus, and my favorite meal I look forward to every trip, the molcajete. The snapper is usually a staple and safe seafood choice, packed with plenty of flavor. Though I myself do not like octopus, my mom amd sister always order this and have said it is a very tasty peice of seafood that they order everytime. My favorite is the molcajete, a traditional Mexican dish served in a version of a mortar (see my picture accompanying this review). It is a thick seafood "stew" served with stripes of marinated steak and seafood. You eat it in the tortilla it is served in and it easily feeds 2 people (3 if you are all light eaters). It is so tasty and so unique and one of the few restaurants I go to twice during a trip for this dish alone. I highly highly reccomend this place!! The service is always fast and friendly and there is plenty of seating usually. Tips: If you get bitten by mosquitos and didnt pack any mosquito spray, ask your server for some. They always have. This is always a stop for us when visiting Nuevo Vallarta. My wife and I stopped in for dinner. Started with guacamole and chips - so so good. Perfectly seasoned. My wife had the shrimp Maliajetes (which she always gets) and I had the La Burra Cuda , which was a burrito filled with mushroom, shrimp and other good stuff. Both were delicious. Based on the Yelp community, we decided to try this restaurant, as it was an easy walk from our hotel. We wanted more local establishments than the hotel food we have been having. We went for dinner, and the restaurant had a good vibe. It is open to the outside, giving a nice outdoor dining experience. There was live music playing, and the musicians were good. We went on a Friday night and had a short wait for a table. However, later on in the night, the whole restaurant was packed, so I would recommend going early. The food was hit-and-miss. The red snapper and the mussels were fantastic. However, the shrimp burger was not that good. The service was good; the server was attentive, and the food came out fast. Our party of four walked up to El Barracuda on Christmas Day 2023 and asked if they could accommodate our group... and yes, they sure did! Sammy was our waiter and he took great care of us. We started with a round of drinks including a skinny cucumber margarita for me which was delicious and went down easy after a long day on the beach. We shared the grilled octopus entree as an appetizer along with some fresh guac, salsa and chips. Entrees at the table included the grilled fish, a seafood molcajete, seafood soup, and coconut shrimp. All of us were pleased with our respective orders. For dessert, we had popsicles. So glad we came here. The food, service, and ambiance was just what we were looking for. The best Mexican food we found while on vacation. They also have IPA beer which made it an easy choice. I ordered three different margaritas. The watermelon, strawberry, and tamarind. All with fresh fruit and real refreshing. My husband ordered the Piedra Lisa IPA beer which was good, too. He also bought extra to take back to the resort. The Vidanta resort has no IPA beer. For lunch we ordered the shrimp ceviche as the app which was delicious. Big enough to share for 2 people. We also ordered the Al pastor shrimp tacos and Baja style fish tacos. We shared them. Both were a hit. We would definitely order these two options again. We came back for dinner that same day. Ordered the special shrimp enchiladas which were delicious. I would definitely order again. My husband ordered the ribeye with coconut shrimp. The steak was cooked perfectly and the coconut shrimp was good too. Only issue is they did not have steak sauce but that's ok. It was all still good. Friends took us here. The ceviche and guacamole was tasty with their house made buñuelos. Their tasty fruit margaritas were way too small honestly..mostly ice. Maybe 4oz total and felt like the alcohol pour was about an ounce. Or, I'm a lush with high tolerance. Fish tacos were bland and topped with pickled cabbage and cilantro. We had a large group and they easily sat us outside. It was so much fun sitting there watching their employee making tortillas. Just recently I was telling my sissmeister @ Nikki B. how I rarely give 3 stars on yelp. Its either 5 or 1 but I eat my words. Again, I was on this vibe of trying some place new and found this spot on yelp. This place is the epitome of 3 stars basic. Like that basic car you buy or the basic guy you date knowing better guys or cars are out there in the horizon. I came for their famous oysters- they were out of it. It was barely 5 pm. I got the fried whole red snapper and it LOOKED Fried but it wasnt. That was sort of a bummer cause the fish gave its life to me and I barely ate it. I ordered the grilled shrimp and when I came to eat it, it was stuck to the wood below it. The view was of a parking lot and some patchy grass. If you like margaritas you MUST try the margarita de sandia which is a watermelon margarita. DELICIOUS!!! Their chips and salsa variety is just fantastic. We ordered the fresh made Guacamole and it was almost as good as the one my husband makes at home definitely a competitor. I ordered a coctel de camaron and I can't saying was great, but they tried. I need to point out that it isn't on the menu but the cooks made it happen to meet my craving for it. My hubby ordered ceviche and he enjoyed it... I was actually surprised by the food here. I was worried this might be a pricey tourist trap, but I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty the food was. The mushroom soup was nothing like what I was expecting. It was so layered with yummy garlicky flavor and herbs and so many mushrooms! I was really impressed with this simple little soup. The poke was different from the poke I'm used to-this was more acidic and had more liquid, but still quite good. I've never eaten poke with tostadas before, but it's kinda perfect! After days of resort food, my bf and were itching to try some local food. We looked on yelp/google and found El Barracuda within walking distance. So, off we went! My first impression of the restaurant was "creative". They used various items to construct the atmosphere, such as plastic cutting boards as table tops, and orange construction wrap for lampshades. The materials were so out of ordinary, it kept you eyes busy! We got seated right away and placed our order with our friendly server. I got 3 Baja style fish tacos and my bf got the lobster/shrimp roll. Both were so delicious! I was craving some deep fried fish tacos, and these did not disappoint with the crunchy breading and tender fish. My bf's roll was excellent as well. I had a bite and it was full of chunky lobster/shrimp bits with a savory creamy sauce. The other item that blew my mind, was the mango smoothie with coconut cream.
