Bar La Playa is a MUST first-stop when visiting Zona Romantica. On our most recent trip to Puerto Vallarta, we wanted to spend a day in this part of the region. After looking up good places to go, Bar La Playa came up- and I'm sure glad it did! First, it's easy to get to if you're coming from North. Our Uber was easily able to drop us off without getting stuck in gridlock traffic that can affect certain roads of this area. Additionally, the location isn't a high-traffic area for tourists. That meant we were able to walk up and immediately find seats. Second, the service was top notch. I didn't get the bartenders name, but he was very welcoming, friendly, hospitable and spoke English. Just an overall cool dude and was glad to support his business. Third, the drinks were great. Finally, we were drinking 'real' drinks, not the watered down sugary stuff at the hotel. We were very satisfied with the taste of the drinks. Fourth, the prices are really good. Mexico has gotten expensive and this was a sigh of relief. You can have a great time here without feeling like you paid an arm and a leg. I highly-highly recommend making Bar La Playa your first stop when coming to this area. You're going to get great service, great drinks and all at a price that is reasonable and fair. read more

Cute little bar with espresso martinis! They have outdoor seating but the indoor is better so less vendors come up to you. I loved watching the bartenders make the drinks. It does take a bit of time for your drinks to come out because each drink is made fresh with all the ingredients. I got two tequila espresso martinis and enjoyed them. The Bartender was very sweet, and very supportive of the LGBTQ community in the area. When I was visiting, an expat was telling the bartender how much he disliked all the gay couples around the area and wish they would leave. She proceeded to tell him that Puerto Vallarta is welcome to all and that If he didn't like that, he was politely asked to leave the bar. He apologized and finished his drink lol ! Absolutely a must if you are in Puerto Vallarta. The cocktails are amazing with fresh ingredients. I got the Go Bananas and it was superb. My husband and I liked it so much we went to this bar 3 days in a row. The pros: - Fresh ingredients in their fruit cocktails - The bartenders remember you and are super friendly and also extraordinary at their craft. We were impressed by their ability to cut lime peels off with precision (sous chef caliber stuff). They will give you amazing recommendations for local food places nearby. - They take credit card (sometimes difficult in PV) Things to consider: - They don't serve food, but you can get food from the sports bar two doors down. Just note that this bar is cash-only - Like a lot of places in PV, it's a little small, but we were always able to find a spot to sit. However, we visited PV in the low season. - The clientele appears to be mainly tourists and expats. read more

Me and my brother spent a week in PV exploring as many bars in ZR and Centro as we could. La Playa was by far our favorite. It is a chill little spot with great cocktails, good staff, and a good price. We came here at least 3 times during our trip to try more cocktails or at least stop in for a quick drink during our trip.
