View from third level balcony - VN

I can't believe this cute little bar is so close to the condo we stay at while in PV!    ATMOSPHERE: This quaint, hidden gem is far from the hustle and bustle of PV. Its open-air and and three levels high.  The first floor sports a good-sized bar, the second floor is a little smaller but features a rooftop patio atop a neighboring building, and the tiny third floor boasts a cozy wine bar and small balcony that overlooks the street.  The vibe was very chill and could even be considered dead to some as there wasn't any entertainment or dancing going on, just conversing - a positive in my book.   EXPERIENCE: I was flying solo on this particular night and decided to have a nightcap before turning in.  The crowd was of mixed age.  Most of the people were on the first floor watching videos and chatting.  The second floor was unoccupied except for the lonely bartender.  The third floor's body count grew to three as I entered.  I perched on the balcony as it was pretty toasty inside, took in the views and texted friends while enjoying glasses of wine.  Like most of PV, prices were unbelievable affordable. A few more souls added to the room's heat prior to me leaving.   SERVICE: Bar service on the third level was friendly and was swift as it was slow. OVERALL: Terrific spot for a nightcap or conversation. Definitely returning with my spouse in tow!

Ask for Freddie! He knows how to make a great martini or a good shot of tequila. This bar has a very friendly staff and always a great time! I can't wait to visit again.

Second floor rooftop patio. Very nice

Wonderful bar off the main gay bar strip. I guess just in the past few months they made the additions of the second and 3rd floor bars but that's what really makes this into what it is. First floor regular small local bar feel with music videos. Second floor has a rooftop patio and shirtless bartender and 3rd floor is an intimate wine and cocktail bar and shirtless bartender. All levels have their own identity making for a great place to enjoy drinks and conversation. The 3rd floor actually sells wine by the bottle and has a somewhat nice selection at prices. And the kicker is clean bathrooms on each floor. This place defiantly deserving of 5 stars.

Anonimo in Puerto Vallarta's Zona Romantica is a tiny, well-kept gay video bar that seats no more than 20...and that would be crowded. Nonetheless, it was our happy hour bar-of-choice throughout our stay because of the friendliest PV bartender and welcoming local regulars. Since the bar is small, bartender David handles everything from restocking supplies to washing glasses to popping popcorn to cueing videos/taking requests. And still he kept us entertained and our glasses filled. No doubt this bar hums and reminded the 3 of us of a small NYC West Village gay bar where we all met years ago, and used to be run like this. Maybe that's why Anonimo became our Cheers in PV. We're coming back next season! I'm sure David will remember our names...they're in the bar PC/register!

This super small bar is so hidden that if you blink you'll miss it. The artwork inside deserves to be seen though! I was here before Halloween and they made a Halloween margarita. I don't know what was in it but it was orange and tasty! They play YouTube videos on the TVs and we were graced with Whitney Houston for the duration of our visit.

Anonimo is a cosy 3 story club in the heart of the Puerto Vallarta downtown district called the Zona Romantica. The owners Brian and Roger make everyone feel welcome. Tjis club is mainly for a gay clientele but the owners welcome everyone with open arms and give everyone the feeling of a home away from home. Their hospitality is amazing, the decor trendy and the drinks fabulous. The colorful wall mural of the iguana on the top floor patio is a masterpiece and so are the topless bartenders. Wink. A must visit when you come to PV

Small 3 floor bar with a big outside lounge outside. Away from main club and bar area. Always go here a few times when in PV. Like the vibe.

The bartenders were some of the best and funniest we had the pleasure of ordering from in all of PV. The gogo dancers and Studs staff were amazing and very kind, especially on breaks mingling with everyone. The only downside was they charge a cover almost every night here, with the exception of their Wednesday underwear themed nights. All shapes and sizes are welcome and celebrate here which we definitely need more of in the world. Studs Puerto Vallarta is absolutely ahead of the norm. Studs host happy hours, beer bust, bingo, disco nights and more. It's definitely not for the faint of heart, but it's absolutely a lot of fun and the ambiance from the main level to the top is very distinctive. We lounged on the sofas across from the bar and not to far from the main entrance, before we realized there was a staircase to the upstairs where the music was louder and the place was backed with people have a great time, dancing the night away. Open cada día/every day as early as 3pm until 2 to 4am at the latest, depending on the night. Drink specials are very impressive, 30 to 90 pesos for most beer and cocktails.

This untrained bartender will not deter me from visiting Studs again.

The drinks are reasonable, but unlike Mr. Flamingos and a few other places they do charge a cover to get in on most nights. It's multileveled which can be fun especially with great music, dancers and drag performers in abundance. People are pretty friendly here, but not the most welcoming to everyone. They were pretty nice to us, just a touch rude to another group of patrons from what I saw while we were here - at least at the door. The bartenders are fun. The music is epic. High energy. Outside patio area is gorgeous. We didn't stay here long at all. We just didn't vibe with this hot spot as much as other places, but still a great place. And overall (at least in my opinion) it's not AS feel good as neighboring LGBTQ+ spots in PV. That said they have some great events, beautiful dancers and great club lighting.

This club is so much fun and I've taken all my friends and recommended Code and everyone has had a great time. The setup is definitely more table based but it is pretty affordable. Once you walk up the main steps there is usually a small cover fee to come in and the bar is right in the back of the first floor. Up the massive mahogany stairs are the multitude of floor-to-ceiling doors that are all unisex bathrooms. I love the large mirror at the top of the stairs for a quick selfie and of course the bathroom attendants are super friendly. I've noticed a top floor but have yet to decipher if it is private event space of additional table seating (I will try to remember to ask next time). What makes Code stand out is the level of theatrics and lighting that are utilized throughout the night. From male and female go-go dancers, cascading light and disco ball drops that are synced to the music, pyrotechnics, and so much more -- this is one hell of a spot. Each night on different trips I've been on there has been a different theme for each night. You can tell they take great pride and plan out each theme accordingly. For those who opt for a table, they have some of the best service. From a dedicated server exclusive to your table for the entirety of the night to the frequent checks on what mixers or drinks you might need. You'll be squared away. Make it a point to add this to your trip itinerary and you will not be disappointed.

They were basically zombie dancing, where you know they could hear the beat but were mentally checked out. One round of drinks was about 500 MXN for 2 simple tequila and sodas. The staff tried hard to sell us on those couch areas, and I believe the price was around 5,000 MXN for the base package. You are not allowed to sit unless you purchase. We actually might have bought this, but there is an Alfred Hitchcock-esque vibe here that cannot be explained on yelp. The theme of this place is a library plus the feeling you're being watched in your house. Also there are balloons. The crowd is very young; it was mostly 19ish looking people. Eventually, there was a performer who hung by her hair, which actually was really cool which is why this got an extra star. I was confused why they didn't advertise this during their crazy couch sales pitch. Overall we did have some fun dancing to the fun music but this is a hard pass. If you go, do pay cash and leave before they get extra weird.

After looking up good places to go, Bar La Playa came up- and I'm sure glad it did! First, it's easy to get to if you're coming from North. Our Uber was easily able to drop us off without getting stuck in gridlock traffic that can affect certain roads of this area. Additionally, the location isn't a high-traffic area for tourists. That meant we were able to walk up and immediately find seats. Second, the service was top notch. I didn't get the bartenders name, but he was very welcoming, friendly, hospitable and spoke English. Just an overall cool dude and was glad to support his business. Third, the drinks were great. Finally, we were drinking 'real' drinks, not the watered down sugary stuff at the hotel. We were very satisfied with the taste of the drinks. Fourth, the prices are really good. Mexico has gotten expensive and this was a sigh of relief. You can have a great time here without feeling like you paid an arm and a leg. I highly-highly recommend making Bar La Playa your first stop when coming to this area. You're going to get great service, great drinks and all at a price that is reasonable and fair.
