Stopped by here with friends while walking the malecon for a drink. The place is a corner bar with limited seating overlooking the water. We ordered our drinks and waited for some seats to open up. The bartender recommended the banana colada. Nice drink for the afternoon. Two nice shots of rum with banana and coconut water in a blender. She sprinkled some chopped coconut on top. Bonus they had college football on the tv's. Great place for people watching. read more

While in Puerto Vallarta, we always make time for a visit to the (Sun) Devil's Bar. The bar is open air, on the Malecon, right across from the beach. The bar is small, and at times, there is no seating so you just have to wait. They have basic beers and a full bar and various sporting events playing on the TVs. There is paid bathroom down a hallway that connects the bar to souvenir shops. I had a chance to meet the owner (big Sun Devil's fan) and enjoyed hearing about this venture of moving to Mexico and buying the bar over 17 years ago. Regarding the service, it has always been very good. read more

Pacifico cervesa is 75 pesos. Drinks 160 pesos crazy prices! Sad to say but they've over priced themselves. Beers at other establishments are 45-55. plenty of places to get great drinks at 1/3 the price. read more

One of the typical bar stops along the Malecon. Visited mostly by Americanos and Canadians. Not bad, but nothing special. No restroom, so you'll either pay 10 pesos for the closer one or 15 pesos for the one across the way. Both are clean. read more

This bar was one of the places I visited in PV! Margheritas are made with fresh fruit and have so many fruits to choose from. My friend wanted the mango, but they ran out. She was kinda bummed but the coconut one she got was delicious. My michilada (sielo rojo) was probably the best I've ever had. The girls that worked there are super nice, and you get the perfect ocean view. Can't wait to have another drink the next time I go back. read more

Cute corner open air bar on the water. Great spot to stop in to grab a drink, watch a soccer game and chat with the friendly staff. They offer a ton of cocktail and shot options with something for everyone. We had micheladas and they were huge! And spicy. Perfect way to spend an hour and get some shade. read more

This place can get quite busy on the weekends, the bar tenders are kind of bland but not rude. The drinks can be a bit pricey because you're ocean front, but it's worth it. The ambience was nice, but the music wasn't it. read more

This place is great. It's a little dumpy corner bar right in the open air. It's no frills and no bathrooms.... But the entire reason I stopped there was because they advertised they had black cherry margaritas. I love anything black cherry. These drinks hit the spot. A nice breeze going through the place, met a number of people from Chicago& Wisconsin. It is a touristy bar dedicated to the Arizona Sun Devils. But it is a great black cherry margarita! read more

We first visited this small open air bar in 2016 and had a great time. We live in Tempe, the home of ASU and Sparky (the Sun Devil's mascot). We were on a cruise so only had 1 day in town. I thought I left a review back then but I don't find it now. The owners are ex pats who moved their family down there and opened this fun little Sun Devil themed bar on the Malecon. Like most of the other reviewers we had a great time and enjoyed their exceptional hospitality. We will be visiting Puerto Vallarta again in summer 2023 for 8 days and will be drinking to Sparky's health again at the Devil's Bar! read more

Aw hell, you gotta stop by here and get a tasty and inexpensive Minerva beer. Even if you don't follow or much care about some Arizona school's mascot, this is a great place to break up your walk along the Malecon. It's in a prime, scenic location too! read more

Perfect location on the Malecon. Just for a stop in the shade and have a tasty beverage while people watch. Sure it is all kitch in a sense, and not what you might want for your Mexican experience... but you get that the other 23 hours of the day. So drop the culture-seeking adventure attitude for a bit and just go for a fruity mojito or beer, and embrace the tourist for a bit while sitting in the gold and maroon corner. read more

" Great Views, With Great Cocktails " My wife and I visited the Devil's Bar in Puerto Vallarta again, as we came off of our cruise ship. The Devil's Bar is owned by an Arizona Sun Devil Fan, and is a great place to go if you want some nice ocean views, and very tasty cocktails. Melissa and Susy were are Bar Tenders, and were very nice to talk with. They also made some very good drinks. They can also order food from near by restaurant for you, if you are hungry. One of the best cocktails is the Micheladas. They also have a wide variety of different Margarita's to try, along with many Beer varieties. Devil's is a cute little bar right off the boardwalk. It's only bar seating. They specialize is different kinds of margaritas. I got their classic margarita and it was by far the best margarita I had my entire trip. The flavor was great and was easy to drink. The portions are huge, my cup was as big as my face! My friends got the mango and Cucumber flavors. They were great as well. Also best thing is that's it's super cheap too! read more

Really great micheladas! They come in huge mason jars with tajin and salt on the rim for only $80p. This is a small bar right on the Malécon in a high traffic area. There aren't many seats but they are all facing the bar. Some have a view of the ocean. It's always packed. The owner Alan has a bit of a sundevils fetish and it shows!! No food and no bathrooms here but the drinks are great! read more

This is by far my FAVORITES bar in all of Puerto Vallarta. It's located at the end of the Malecon, and in perfect view of the Pacific Ocean. The staff is extremely friendly and most of them speak English as well. Wi-Fi is available as well as three TV's to watch any of your favorite games. Cozy, jovial bar with sports games always on. Sun Devil themed, so it is a must go for all ASU heads, the owner is an alumni bleeds maroon and gold through and through. The #micheladas are excellent and they have a great variety of margaritas, Palmas, monitors, and beer. Ok.... let me start by saying we stumbled across this corner bar because it had the perfect location..... Then we actually sat down and ordered our first round.... and got to meet the owner ( Allen) he filled us in on the do's and dont's of PV... it was awesome!!! We asked for bar snacks and they didn't have any but Allen went to a nearby store and brought back 2 bags of snacks!! REALLY!! Who does that ... Enough said.... this place is the real deal.. please stop by for a drink if you find yourself walking down the MALECON !!! You won't regret it!!!!!! read more

Great horseshoe shaped bar right on the Malecon. Good selection of alcohol and if you are tired of Corona or Pacifico they also have Minerva Mexican craft beer. The only downside to this bar is they do not have their own bathroom - instead you need to use the bathroom in the garage next door for 6 pesos read more

Ribs were ok but I'm a rib snob so I wasn't overwhelmed but they were juicy and tender. I wish they gave us more fried pickles. I would return and recommend. Great location. Two for the price of one and includes French fries and slaw. I order a combo special with ribs and chicken. The first time the chicken was juicy and tender but this time it was dry and flavorless. It's all good it happens. The sauce is consistent and they have some spicy sauce you can add on. The baked potato is fine but only comes with sour cream so ask for butter while it's hot. I personally don't love the slaw but I have friends who do. Found out today the coconut shrimp is the best in the marina. It's got good natural coconut flavor and texture with the shrimp still shining through the batter. Good sauce accompanying the meal. It's a special not an appetizer. I love the location and the service could be a bit better but overall it's good. I come back for ribs and wings and sports.

We got mild and spicy and one of the best salsas we've had during our trip. Can't go wrong with any of the items on the menu. But the standouts were the bbq ribs and grilled octopus. It was great for sharing as portion size is generous. Drinks are creative and have a good buzz to them. Highly recommend this restaurant and we can't wait to come back.

We decided to sit outside because it was cooler with the breeze than inside. We had a great waitress that took great care of us. The beer in bottles was cold. After looking up good places to go, Bar La Playa came up- and I'm sure glad it did! First, it's easy to get to if you're coming from North. Our Uber was easily able to drop us off without getting stuck in gridlock traffic that can affect certain roads of this area. Additionally, the location isn't a high-traffic area for tourists. That meant we were able to walk up and immediately find seats. Second, the service was top notch. I didn't get the bartenders name, but he was very welcoming, friendly, hospitable and spoke English. Just an overall cool dude and was glad to support his business. Third, the drinks were great. Finally, we were drinking 'real' drinks, not the watered down sugary stuff at the hotel. We were very satisfied with the taste of the drinks. Fourth, the prices are really good. Mexico has gotten expensive and this was a sigh of relief. You can have a great time here without feeling like you paid an arm and a leg. I highly-highly recommend making Bar La Playa your first stop when coming to this area. You're going to get great service, great drinks and all at a price that is reasonable and fair.
