Stopped by here friends for a couple cold beers and to listen to the band. The place was pretty full when we got there around 3:00. We decided to sit outside because it was cooler with the breeze than inside. We had a great waitress that took great care of us. The beer in bottles was cold. From the Great staff, and great owner Berenice , and great customers they all make you feel welcome if it is your first time at Captain Dons or 100th time. You can't beat the great hospitality. Food is by far amazing , I have had ribs,burgers, nachos etc but my favourite are their wings. Best wings I've ever had in Puerto Vallart in the last 10 years I've been going to Puerto Vallarta. I have eaten here a couple of times. The last time I was there I had the salt and pepper wings. They were great. I went last week because we had friends in from the US. I ordered the same thing and they were awful. So over-cooked they looked like chicken wing jerky. I ordered the 10 piece. I had 2 (that was the only thing I ordered and I was hungry so I had to eat something ) and my friends had 1 each. I told the server how bad they were and they seemed as if they didn't even care. That is the usual attitude there. I asked why I was getting charged for such a bad meal. They said because I returned only half of the order. That'll teach me not to share with my friends . I said "then only charge me half ". The girl just shrugged. That's how they usually deal with things there. I use to like the place because they mostly spoke English and half the time the food was okay. And a lot of Expats go there. But I'm tired of being treated like crap and getting fair to bad food. This ex-pat bar is only a few blocks from our home and has great live music. We came here my last night in town because my mom wanted to go dancing; the majority of the customers are 50+ years old, so not necesarily a place for a younger crowd but was perfect for my mom. The musicians were fantastic, playing fun covers that we all wanted to dance to. The waitress was attentive and did a great job at keeping the drinks coming. They also had the Sharks vs Kings playoff game on which was a huge bonus (nothing like watching LA lose from another country!!).The only issue I had was the amount of smoke. Because of the music, they put up blockers to help keep the sound within the building, however this also keeps the cigarette smoke in too. I'd say maybe 1/4 of the patrons that night were smokers, but the smoke just sat and lingered throughout the night. If you're looking for some good drinks, and fun music then I'd recommend at least checking Captain Dons out! read more

One of my favorite bands in vallarta - Tequila Rush - plays here on Friday nights. I got a group of friends together and made the small pilgrimage to Captain Dons for beers, food, and music. The bar is a large open space with tables and chairs smartly placed throughout. A large bar is at one end and the tiny kitchen at the other. A daily special is written on a chalkboard above the entrance to the patio and stage in the back corner. We were seated at a round table next to the kitchen with a fantastic view of the stage. Ordered beers which took way too long to get to us but the place was packed with only 1 server so i get it. He worked his tail off to make sure everyone had their food and drinks as fast as he could get them out. My table decided to order buckets instead to quicken the process. 10 beers for 225 pesos is a great deal. 2 of us ordered the special of the day which was chicken Parmesan and it was super tasty!! Someone else ordered jalapeño poppers but they weren't properly cooked and not that great. I also find it quite unfortunate that there is smoking allowed inside but without proper ventilation. More fans needed to be blowing as it was a foggy mess in there. Sound system for the band was decent and they were amazing as always. I would definitely return to this bar for live music but not sure it would be my daily hangout unless I lived in the hood. read more

My husband and I came here twice on our trip to PV, both times were great. It's a very chill bar, lots of fans to keep you cool, good cheap beer, good cocktails, and 3 big TV's that are playing sports. The locals and expats at the bar were always nice and friendly to talk to. Will come back on our next trip. Also, at night there's an awesome Al pastor taco stand across the street, La Carboncita. Dive bar. Beer, booze, outstanding food selection of peanuts and pretzels. They have a kitchen that is not presently in use. Live music, sports on the TV, and on Sunday, Seahawks! Dogs seem welcome. Cash only. Bit smoky, but great place to catch a game, or rock out. read more
