Dorado Birria Tacos
Russ L.

Delicious birria dorado tacos that will not break your budget. If you want an authentic taco, then look no further. Full flavor, generous meat portions, and great-tasting salsa. Service is friendly, they do speak English. Small dining area and might be a wait during the busy morning and lunch rush but it is worth the wait. Best birria tacos in town.

Highly recommend mom and pop shop. Budget friendly taco shop, with authentic Mexican food. No hipster vibes here.

Very small low key spot but the food was excellent. Had the birria tacos and they were full of flavor and the consome was good as well

My SO and I were walking and exploring PV for the day. After walking through the Malecon and seeing lots of touristy-type restaurants, we wanted to walk further away to look for something to eat. We wanted to grab some tacos and stumbled upon Taqueria De Birria El Banquito. They're tucked away on a street that's not as busy. We saw lots of locals dining here so we decided to try it out. AMBIANCE/SERVICE Upon entrance, we looked for an empty table and seated ourselves. A waiter assisted us right away and took our order. Very friendly and swift service. *CASH ONLY* in pesos/MXN FOOD We ordered a total of 6 tacos (20MXN each) and 2 bottled sodas. We spent $200 MXN (~$11 USD) total with tip. Our bill was $166 MXN (~$9.17 USD) + a 20% tip. *Chicharron *Asada *Birria Each taco was filled with delicious meats, onions, cilantro and shredded cabbage. Plenty of lime were provided. I paired some of the tacos with either of the 3 salsas available on the table. Definitely support this hole in the wall if you're looking for good tacos, birria, tostadas or quesadillas!

Excellent tacos at a very reasonable price.

Excellent street style tacos at a vet reasonable price. Not a lot of seating but absolutely worth a short wait.

Birria tacos

This hole in the wall is a must. The food is really good and the prices are the cheapest in the area. The birria, chorizo and alpastor tacos are on point. They have a 3 taco and a drink for 80 pesos. And 3 gorditas your choice of meat for 70 pesos. We ate here 4 times in 6 days.

Chorizo Torta

My partner and I were on the Malecon trying to find a late lunch meal. Pretty much everything directly along the Malecon is terribly rated. Luckily we found this local, authentic hole-in-the-wall joint a little walk away from the super touristy section of the boardwalk. This spot had some of the best food we have eaten in Puerto Vallarta. We ordered a couple of variety of tacos and a chorizo torta to share. The tacos were solid, but the chorizo torta was hands down the best thing we had there. The bread texture was just right and the chorizo was absolutely tasty. Six tacos, one torta, and two sodas cost only about $6 USD total. It's such an insane steal for such a good amount of delicious, local food.

This place is the epitome of a hole in the wall. I was walking to Starbucks to get some work done when I saw some locals and thought "Wow, that is tiny but if the locals are eating it...." The kitchen barely fits two people. I think you can touch two walls with your arms outstretched. There is a single chair (but there's a table across the street) and a small table for condiments and napkins. They have a daily special of 3 Birria tacos for 30 pesos. We tried their agdobada? and it wasn't as good as the Birria. If you want their other tacos, it's 12 pesos. The Birria flavor is reminiscent of goat tacos but it's beef. The sauce that is cooked in it gives it a good balance with the tortilla. I know it looks intimating from the outside but I'm glad to have found something authentic and tasty. I'm not sure what the hours are because when I walked past it around 4:30PM, it was closed. But it was open at 9AM when I first walked past!

Good tacos and burritos, we got asada and pastor and they were delicious and fresh! Great find for a LOCAL meal.

Menu

This is a phenomenal little taco joint on the south side of the malecon. The birria is amazing and that makes sense since it's their specialty. It's super affordable and has some wonderful folks working there. I highly suggest!

Food was very good, authentic and good service. Quickly fed my hungry family when we got to shore from our cruise.

The ribeye had so much fat that we had to pick through it just to eat it. The al pastor was very average - I've had much better at plenty of other taco spots. The biggest disappointment was the chorizo. It wasn't traditional chorizo at all; it looked and tasted more like chopped-up hot dogs. We barely touched it because it wasn't what we ordered expecting, and it just wasn't good. The presentation also wasn't appealing. The meat was simply piled on top of two tortillas, making everything messy and difficult to eat. They were also pretty stingy with the grilled jalapeños. The salsas didn't do the food any favors either. None of them really stood out, and the green guacamole salsa actually tasted like it had gone bad, so we stopped eating it. Service was attentive, but almost too attentive. Staff kept coming by every few minutes to ask if we were finished or if we needed anything. While I appreciate good service, it made us feel like we were being rushed through our meal instead of being able to enjoy it at our own pace. Overall, I don't understand the high ratings based on our experience. With so many amazing taco spots in Puerto Vallarta, this one didn't come close to meeting the hype. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back.

Tacos Revolución was around the corner from my hotel, so I popped in for my last dinner in town…read more Outdoor seating was filled, but I had a table by the door which ended up being perfect because it essentially gave me a first row seat to a street performer playing classic rock tunes on guitar outside and then later a 3 piece band playing more traditional music across the street. Chips and three salsas come gratis. The pineapple habanero was a little hot for my tastebuds, but it had good flavor. The chipotle salsa was appropriately smoky and might've been my favorite. The green was more mild and fresh and also very good. I ordered three tacos: grilled shrimp, grilled fish, and the hibiscus flower and panela cheese. The waitress let me try a piece of the cheese before ordering since I'd never had panela before which I appreciated. That taco was probably my least favorite of the three- texture, not taste, but I like to try new things, so I'm glad I got it. There was a toppings bar for taco add-ons: limes, cucumbers, cabbage, onions, and cilantro. Nice to be able to customize. Very reasonable cost, good flavor, good service, good atmosphere.

The kids' eyes widen as the elderly lady at the griddle passes them a hunk of juicy pineapple for the ride home. I was honored to be greeted with a genuine smile and felt welcome in this little universe. Sitting there, I realized I was witnessing a slice of intimacy with the locals that most travelers never touch. Half a dozen salsas in mismatched tubs of varying sizes power this taco stand. The hunks of pastor are heavily marinated, lightly perfumed with clove and cinnamon, delicious on their own. There is no Trompo spinning the meat, there is no theater to the preparation.. just the sound of the griddle sizzling up plump morsels. And the avocado jalapeño salsa... I would eat wet cardboard with that, it is that good. The ripe pineapple ties the whole symphony together like a cherry on a sundae. If there is a place of zen in the taco world, I found it. A fleeting experience that left me with a lasting memory of one of the great dining moments of my spoiled privileged life. This is not just tacos. This is transcendence.
