They forget they have customers in the lobby. Waited 20 minutes before anyone greeted us. Just a waste of space.

Still a 20 minute wait. They take your phone number & call when table is ready. And the wait was fine. Cotton Hollow perserve is across the street, so a short walk over there and back worked out a perfect way to pass the time. We were seated in the bar area - at a regular table. It was decorated in a fun way - fish artwork, a tv, natural wood. We didn't quite understand the surf board that hung over the bar though? My daughter & I started with a drink - I had mango pina colada, she had a drink with gin, cranberries. Both good. Food - exceeded my expectations. I had the enchilada duo. Chicken & beef. I usually like beef better, however I think the chicken was in a mole sauce - so delicious. Husband had 2 brisket tacos that he loved. Daughter had the rice bowl (with chicken). Decided to split the churros for dessert. Came with: ice cream, Carmel & chocolate sauce. Yes - we will be back. I saw a patio outside. Warmer weather is coming

Upscale tacos done right…read more Came here because we are always on the hunt for good tacos. The location is right off the highway on the back of the xerox building. There's signs for parking but they are somewhat small so you need to keep an eye out for their logo. You're greeted with a very fancy food truck with servers and plenty of outdoor seating. There's some outdoor loungers and and some lawn games. The view was great, overlooking the river and with plenty of greenery. Our server was very friendly and chatty. Missus and her chatted and had good banter. Our server only had another couple servers helping, which got overwhelming for their team by the time we left. We got aqua fresca for drinks, the chips and salsa for the table, 4 tacos to share, and the street corn brule. Everything came out around the same time, which took them a little while but they got everything out. The street corn was fresh, used local corn and had the right blend of mole, queso fresco, and spices to make it a cheesy, spicy, corn forward dip. The chips and salsa for the table was also prepped fresh. The fine dice on the salsa let one get a good scoop of all the elements into one bite. The vinegar forward salsa was well balanced and seasoned. The chips were recently fried, and lightly salted. The tacos were also done well. Each taco were about 5 to 6 bites, all the ingredients were treated with care and layered to give the best bite. The fish taco and their take on a Birra taco were the highlights. Fish was crispy, paired with a spicy aoli and fresh corn. The Birra taco was not dunked nor came with au jus but it did have very tender smoked beef with avocado cream and plenty of onions. The wild mushroom had a lot of umami and complexity. It was a stellar non-meat taco but was overshadowed by its heavy hitter cousins. The carne asada taco was treated well, grilled properly and paired with just enough toppings to keep things interesting. The meat needed to be cubed though, was a very messy bite because of the beef lardons. The price was high, but the quality of the food justified the price. If I spend 8 bucks for a single taco, I want the bite to be balanced and flavorful, the quantity to be reasonable, and the end product to show that some thought and care was put into the dish presented. This is not a taco truck on the side of the road offering three buck tacos with fresh stewed beef and red onion (my kingdom for that type of taco truck in ct!). This is Americanized, curated, fancy-fied taco creations that taste great, look good, and fill you up. Couple that with a view of the water and a friendly but overworked staff and you get a very solid dining experience. It's one of the best tacos I've had in the state and a contender for one of the best tacos I've had in general. It's not cheap, but you absolutely fell like you get what you pay for. Get the chips and salsa, try some tacos and enjoy the locale!

But…read morewhen we saw a reel on IG about how they have a new chef, menu, and that things have greatly improved we decided to give it a shot. #disappointed The location itself is nice. Decent view of the river...on cheap, wobbly outdoor chairs and tables. There was only one server for the entire area the night we were there. He did as good as he could but service was very slow. The food is overpriced - $9 tacos with no sides ? My carne plate was all fries with a small piece of chewy meat. The margarita was fine. Water tasted bad so I ordered a beer on draft. This is basically a glorified food truck and bar area. They have a little outdoor couch area which might be nice to hang out with friends to grab drinks but save your appetite for somewhere else like sayulita or no mames. Pro tip: if you decide to give this place a shot take the driveway to left for parking closer to the entrance.

"Oh, Mexico It sounds so sweet with the sun sinking low…read moreMoon's so bright like to light up the night Make everything all right" (James Taylor) Of all the West Hartford restaurants I've been to, this must be the most "un-West Hartford like" place I've ever seen. It's unpretentious, it has limited indoor seating (but there are outdoor options weather permitting), customers are served out of Styrofoam containers, and there are no booths. It felt more like we were in a beachside taqueria than in Fancy Pants West Hartford Center. But Oh, My Sweet Lord, are the food and value fantastic. We ordered at the counter after perusing their large and (honestly) somewhat confusing menu, and eventually settled on a Mexican Street Corn Equites ($7.50) as a shared appetizer, an El Jefe (Cheese) Quesadilla ($11), and an El Soltero Two Taco Plate ($14.95). The portions were huge, so for our $41 after tax and tip, half of everything came home and we'll be getting four servings from that $41. We started off with some complimentary chips and salsa. I fortified my salsa with some of the four hot sauces on my table, and I'm pretty sure at least one of them was home made. The Street corn appetizer was incredible. It was served in a big creamy bowl with cotija cheese and chili lime aioli. Amazing flavor, and a big portion too. The El Jefe was an immense portion served with four sides - salsa Mexicana, cotija cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. There was a generous variety of melted cheeses inside the quesadilla. My El Soltero is advertised as a "Personal Sized Meal for One", but that has to be a misprint because the amount of food for $14.95 is ridiculous. It included two purple corn tortillas, my choice of taco protein, guacamole, pico de gallo, taco slaw, and rice & beans. I went with Pescado (fried fish) and Crispy Shrimp as my proteins. Everything came piled into a Styrofoam container, so I could create my own masterpiece. My dinner was fantastic. Throw in the beautiful artwork inside and outside the building, the Mexican music, and free parking (Free in West Hartford !!!) and you'll see why this was such a fun night. So go visit and be sure to leave your West Hartford expectations (price point and otherwise) behind.

Good enough tacos in a little saloon…read more Drove by this place a bunch, and never gone here since there's a ton of food places around to try. This was their turn to try, and we made the trek here to give it a shot. The place is next to a Whole Foods with some small signage to indicate that it's there. The mural up front is very pretty and a stark contrast to the rest of the area. When you go inside, it feels like an old saloon, a little dark and a little unkempt but not off puttingly so. They had three menus to look at, and none of them matched. I asked about a walking taco they offered and was told it was not available. Asked if they would edit the menu and was told they would not because they were limited in menus. So the staff were a little irritated by us being there, which falls into the saloon atmosphere. We get some elote and some tacos, take them to go and after about 15 minutes we had food. Went to the car and dug in. The corn of the elote was not fresh, lead to soggy bites of corn covered in mayo and stale fire Cheetos. There was no attempt to make the tacos, instead we were given a plate of toppings with tortillas on top. The meats were lightly seasoned and not spicy, and I suspect they were hoping the tortillas would get warmed up by the food because they were tough and inflexible when we got them. Given the area, there's a lot of places to eat around there. You need to stand out to draw in patrons, and they don't seem to be trying so much anymore. They might be a decent bar, but not so much a good restaurant.

Puerto Vallarta for Cinco de Mayo was a WHOLE experience…read more This place was PACKED from start to finish, but honestly? The vibe made the wait worth it. There were lines everywhere, the parking lot was full, and the restaurant was extremely busy but the energy was so good it barely even felt like we waited long. They had two DJs, one inside and one outside on the deck area where there was also an outdoor bar. The music was nonstop and the DJ played a mix of everything, so people were dancing the entire night. While waiting for our table, we grabbed drinks outside and ended up dancing inside too We waited about 30 minutes to be seated (plus another 10 because we missed our first call while vibing on the deck ), but once we sat down everything moved smoothly. Drinks were STRONG and definitely worth the price I had a couple shots plus both the original and strawberry margaritas, and both were really good. The food? 10/10. We got tacos, quesadillas, sizzling fajitas, and fresh guacamole made tableside right in front of us. Everything came out hot, flavorful, and delicious. The fajitas coming out sizzling definitely turned heads I also appreciated how organized everything still felt despite the crowd. There was security at the front entrance, inside, and near the side exits, which helped things feel safe and controlled during such a busy event. This was the perfect spot to celebrate with friends. Great music, strong drinks, delicious food, and an atmosphere that felt like a real party from beginning to end. Would absolutely come back for another holiday, weekend or summer night on the deck

We've been coming here since it first opened and have noticed a significant change over the last couple of years. Tonight, when we walked in, the only acknowledgment we got was from a waitress who was already helping another customer--no one was at the front to greet guests. I understand it's the holiday season, but it was surprising to see empty tables and a lack of energy in the restaurant. We ordered our usual drinks and the guacamole, which oddly came in a red plastic bowl this time. The guacamole itself was delicious, though. My wife ordered the shrimp tacos, and I got the steak fajitas. The tacos came with a side of white rice, but we were pretty sure they used to come with beans as well, so we asked for a side. The steak fajitas were fantastic. Still, I couldn't help but notice the cheese--it didn't look or taste like the usual white cheese they typically serve, though I could be mistaken. The staff was friendly and attentive, but overall, something just felt off.
