Hair in the food... Order wrong... full refund acquired doesn't seem like a big deal to them.

Scrapped the whole meal after one bite. 1 hair in the food is all it takes to ruin the meal. Terribly disappointing and disgusted to eat here again... no hair nets nothing to stop this. Concerned what I took a bite out of to be honest.

Okay today I came back for another review the taco supreme was very good I was very pleased and I was happy that now they saw that I posted a less review than I wanted. I want everyone to know that if you come here you definitely will get very good customer service and the food will be better than it was before, several improvements on the way and also now so this is a 'update on the first review which was from yesterday to inform everyone that the food is got taste everything is everything is on Q everything is wonderful so reason why I'm giving a 4 star review enjoy and do make sure to notice how well everything will be served to you. Highly recommend the Krispy tacos I think that's one of the favorite things on my lemonade that I really liked which was today. Also the burrito was very good as well and recommend that is part of my favorites.

Too bz to take order from Mexican...

Wouldn't acknowledge my 13 year old trying to order at counter so I walked inside then they wouldn't acknowledge me until I spoke up... three people inside so not swamped... with all but one white staff member couldn't help but feel this was a whites only establishment... kept order down to one burrito and wasn't given receipt and still took a while to get burrito... took my fanily of seven to chicken express instead... never coming to this one ever again. Normally wouldn't have bothered with review but son's reaction and look on his face ... and then same treatment with me... half my family is white so never really felt this treatment would reach my kids but guess not... either way customers may not always be right, but they should never feel unwelcome.

Horrible service, had no beans. How do you have a taco restaurant with no beans? Food was burnt and no sauces and no cheese. Order was completely wrong. I would rather drive to the next town over for Taco Bell than this one in Lakeway.

    Spiffy! :)

It's super clean and really comfortable. Like, the kind of place where you sit down and immediately think, "Yeah... I could stay here for a while." The ambiance is laid-back, cool, and just easy. Now let's talk food--because WOW. The tacos were packed with flavor and seriously delicious. No complaints there at all... I might've been a little too happy while eating them. I did get a skinny margarita, and I'm not gonna lie--it was good, but it showed up looking a little... shy. Smaller than I expected and a bit pricier than I would've liked. But hey, the food definitely made up for it, so I'll let it slide this time. And the staff? Super friendly across the board. The waiters, manager, bartenders--everyone was cool, welcoming, and just easy to talk to. Makes a big difference. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot. Great food, great people, great vibe... just maybe order two margaritas if you're feeling festive.

I was so hungry that I honestly woofed it all down, and I enjoyed every bite. The egg and cheese breakfast taco was incredible, simple yet full of authentic flavor. This place truly feels like somewhere I can relax and feel at home. I'm so glad I gave it a second round because the food is genuinely amazing. When they took over their current location (used to be a divish bar) in 2022, they really transformed the place into something special. Arguably one of the best patios in the Lake Travis area. Lots of choices of types of seating from standard tables and chairs to comfy sofas. Complete with a fire pit, full bar with TVs, lots of fans, QR code orfering and checkout an option...super chill, spacious, and inviting environment (especially since it's located directly off of busy 620). The inside is really large, including an oversized bar area seating. Offers a very nice dining option (or just for drinks), but if the weather's nice you'll "catch me outside." Don Mario has always offered traditional Mexican cuisine. If you're looking for boring Tex-Mex, you might be a little bit disappointed (albeit they do offer quesadillas, fajitas, flautas+ but kicked up a notch). Some of my personal favorites are the Mexican street tacos (seven different proteins to choose from), ceviche, albondigas, cóctel de camarones, and more; great chips and salsa. Another favorite is off menu, but it's just a basic refried bean and cheese burrito. Magically flavorful and they are not shy with the cheese, which is a very good thing in my book. A great inexpensive and indulgent option to get in protein for the day. Always receive very friendly and prompt service from both wait staff and kitchen. They're always amenable to any special requests, including creating off menu items as previously mentioned. If you're in the mood, they do serve some pretty tasty house frozen FRESH fruit margaritas (strawberry, pineapple, cucumber, or mango). They have a limited happy hour available Monday through Friday from 3-7pm. Save a buck is a buck is a buck. ;) Overall, sí por favor. :D ¡Salud!

Oh well, it's only THE SIGNATURE DRINK OF EVERY MEXICAN RESTAURANT IN TEXAS! But really, we went out for dinner, not drinks. So, we got the shrimp enchiladas. So were the black beans and rice. I would order them again. You think we're done? Uh-uh.. Then came the mariachis!! The place is noisy as it is with a hard floor and large open space. Add 6 guys blasting brass, strings and Spanish at the top of their lungs and you'll get the jist. 165 dB would have been welcome. My water glass was spurting out the top. My hearing aids were feeding back. It almost felt like my last Rolling Stones concert in row 13. But, in all seriousity, everyone around me didn't seem to mind the noise, the music and the inability to communicate with anyone farther than 6" from you without having to yell. Having only been to a couple of Mexican restaurants in this area, I don't know if this is the standard or the exception. Stay tuned.

I heard they had sold off a huge majority stake to another company, and it really shows. Definitely not an ATX thing anymore. Quality control for tacos in Austin out the window. :( Staff was very unanimated. Not rude, cordial, but certainly not friendly. I ordered an off menu item -simple refried beans and cheese in a flour tortilla- and was told it would be four dollars. When I looked at my receipt they charged me 7 bucks; just a few cents less than the Steak Fajita taco I ordered. Rip off IMHO. Both tacos were thrown together so sloppy, with torn tortillas and everything. Sounds very nitpicky I know, but how hard can it be to at least get the ingredients inside a tortilla when you order a taco? Very messy. And the fajita meat had too much gristle on it for my liking (tough). On a positive note, the self service station was very well stocked and clean. Half of the large restaurant consists of four top tables that reads family friendly. The entire other half and patio is totally a local "bar" hangout. It was very apparent there were lots of regulars drinking (and not eating), talking very loudly amongst themselves. So if that's the vibe you seek, this is a joint for you. Um, cheers!

Finally, today was the day and I sure wish I would have tried this place sooner. Since moving to Texas from Southern Cal, I haven't found many places that have what I would call authentic tacos. I keep trying hoping to find that place and I just might have. They are located in a small food truck court off 71. Easy parking and they have plenty of outdoor seating if you want to enjoy your tacos fresh. I only ordered "street tacos" with Adobada; I didn't have to wait long and I did take them to-go since I don't live very far. When I got home, they were still fresh and warm. They were prepared in fresh corn tortillas (they do also offer flour) and there is quite a bit of meat. They came with lime wedges and some red & green sauce. Given my experience with other taco locations, I wasn't expecting much. But my first bite... I was surprised at how delicious they are. Most places I have been to, the meat tastes as though it has been warming in a metal bin for awhile and lacks freshness. But this meat was very fresh and delicious. Squeeze a little lime and add some of the green sauce and these tacos are epic! I ordered three and thought for sure I would end up throwing one or two of them out. But after eating two of them, I saved the third for my daughter but was tempted to eat it too. If the tacos are this good... I am sure the rest of the food must be great. I have had tacos from a few places in downtown Austin that are good, but it's a far drive to get them regularly. It's nice to know the best tacos I have tried since coming to Texas is quite close to me. And between the tacos I have had in Austin and Ortega's, I would choose Ortega's any day. Although they provided red sauce, if you like really spicy... use the green sauce. Like finding good tacos, it has been difficult to find good spicy taco sauce but their green sauce is going to make you sweat a little. Although I waited years to try, I'm glad I finally tried Ortega's and I will be back soon.
