I'm a taco junkie and this is one of, if not the best breakfast taco I've ever had. Order the Ortega special breakfast taco. So dang good. And there's super nice on top of it read more

My first time here but I will definitely be back. I have lived in this area for a few years and keep passing by saying "one day I'll try their tacos". Finally, today was the day and I sure wish I would have tried this place sooner. Since moving to Texas from Southern Cal, I haven't found many places that have what I would call authentic tacos. I keep trying hoping to find that place and I just might have. They are located in a small food truck court off 71. Easy parking and they have plenty of outdoor seating if you want to enjoy your tacos fresh. I only ordered "street tacos" with Adobada; I didn't have to wait long and I did take them to-go since I don't live very far. When I got home, they were still fresh and warm. They were prepared in fresh corn tortillas (they do also offer flour) and there is quite a bit of meat. They came with lime wedges and some red & green sauce. Given my experience with other taco locations, I wasn't expecting much. But my first bite... I was surprised at how delicious they are. Most places I have been to, the meat tastes as though it has been warming in a metal bin for awhile and lacks freshness. But this meat was very fresh and delicious. Squeeze a little lime and add some of the green sauce and these tacos are epic! I ordered three and thought for sure I would end up throwing one or two of them out. But after eating two of them, I saved the third for my daughter but was tempted to eat it too. If the tacos are this good... I am sure the rest of the food must be great. I have had tacos from a few places in downtown Austin that are good, but it's a far drive to get them regularly. It's nice to know the best tacos I have tried since coming to Texas is quite close to me. And between the tacos I have had in Austin and Ortega's, I would choose Ortega's any day. Although they provided red sauce, if you like really spicy... use the green sauce. Like finding good tacos, it has been difficult to find good spicy taco sauce but their green sauce is going to make you sweat a little. Although I waited years to try, I'm glad I finally tried Ortega's and I will be back soon. read more

Hands down, best street taco shop in the Austin area that we've been to. Absolutely delicious. If I could give more stars I would. Every bite packed with flavor, the pastor with pineapple especially!! I personally am a big fan of pastor con piña so I'm so happy they offer that instead of charging extra for pineapple. Hubby loved the bistec and ortegas especiales, in his words the latter was "an adventure park in his mouth". Service was great, wasn't a long wait and woman working cashier was so kind and welcoming! Loved getting to enjoy the ambiance overlooking the hills with music and shaded seating area they offer. If you're in the area or want to try a new place, definitely stop by here!! read more

Ortega's Tacos - Top: Pastor, Ortegas Especiales, Bistec Bottom: Two Pastor, Sausage/Egg/Cheese - Tacos Near Me - Spicewood, Texas

Let me be absolutely clear Ortega's Tacos didn't just feed me. It saved me. There I was, wandering through the desolate wasteland of flavorless fast food and soul-sucking chain restaurants, hollow, broken, a mere shadow of the person I once was. Life had lost its seasoning. The joy had vanished from my tongue. I was starvingnot just for food, but for purpose. And then... I saw it. A humble little taco stand. A glowing beacon in the darkness. Ortega's Tacos. I approached, skeptical, jaded by years of under-seasoned meat and soggy tortillas. But the moment I bit into that first tacocarne asada kissed by the gods, salsa with the heat of a thousand suns, cilantro so fresh I wept something changed inside me. The clouds parted. A mariachi band began playing in my soul. Time slowed. I saw colors I had never seen before. I remembered who I was. I remembered how to feel. Ortega's didn't just serve me tacos. It resurrected me. Five stars. A thousand stars. If you haven't been, you haven't lived. read more

Juan & Nelly Ortega have one of the best taco trailers around Austin! Their breakfast tacos are amazing! You've got to try their Ortega Taco or Migas tacos. Wow just amazing and so fresh! We also just had them cater our party for 50. They provided beef and chicken fajitas with all the fixings and they were the best we have ever had! Everything was prepared fresh and on time! I would highly recommend them for your next gathering. Everyone raved about the fajitas, fresh guacamole and those amazing tortillas! Thanks Juan and Nelly for making our event special with your amazing food! read more

Ortega's Tacos - Tacos Near Me - Spicewood, Texas

Food was tasty but a few things could have been better. 1) drove up to the truck and as soon as we saw several customers in line without masks we decided to try calling the order in. The woman that picked up asked me to wait and I said ok. Seven minutes later I could still hear them cooking and taking orders but seems like I was forgotten. At this point, my husband decided to order in person. There were no non-masked people around and no one was waiting in line. I hung up after I saw my husband was about to order. 2) I saw people arrive after my husband and leave with their orders. Time passed and everyone was gone except one customer, after 35 minutes of waiting, yes thirty-five, my husband walked up to inquire about the order. She pointed to a bag sitting there and said "it's right there".... wth?! Really? Wow. 3) $9.50 for their quesadillas is pricey for a food truck. If you're really hungry, I recommend instead you get 3 tacos ($3 bucks each) - it would be slightly cheaper and you'd get way more meat. 4) Menu states the tortillas are handmade and perhaps one needs to be specific when ordering (my husband wasn't asked for preference), but tacos were made with flour tortillas. Maybe people that are into Tex-Mex cuisine (or just dont know any better) are okay with that, but that's a big no in my book. I occasionally make an exception for breakfast tacos (as we are in Texas) but regular tacos should be made with corn tortillas (it's not only tastier but healthier). Para ustedes que crecieron en Mexico, se comerian un taco de tripas en tortilla de harina? Guácatelas! 5) They gave us two salsas. The red one seemed to have roasted tomatoes in it and the heatness level was good. The other one was a creamy green - we didn't care much for it. Ive only seen this kinda of creamy jalapenos salsa here in TX (in breakfast tacos). Seemed a bit too Tex-Mex for me. read more

Can you say "breakfast tacos" three times fast? I can't because I'm still stuffing my mouth with the especial breakfast tacos from this friendly taco truck - Lol! I've only been to this place couple times for breakfast and a couple times for lunch because they are usually closed on evenings and weekend times when I try to grab food here, not because I don't crave them. I have tried many tacos in this area and these are "hands down, mouths open" the best tacos I've found so far without giving to driving 25+ min. The hours they are open don't sync well with my schedule so I bought extra the last couple times to eat leftovers. They are that good - worth the try, especially if you prefer authentic Mexican tacos over Tex-Mex. Their lunch tacos have fresh cilantro and come with a fresh lime sliver, just the way I like. The verde sauce has a nice kick! read more
