Highly recommend the barbacoa, al pastor and Torta de Pollo milanesa.

This…read morerestaurant was executing at a very high level and it seemed like every dish was prepared with care and thought. The service was friendly and very informative, which was nice as we made decisions. The ambience was also excellent; we sat outside, but would've been happy to sit inside in the lively dining room. The standout dish of the meal was the baked Chincoteague clams. These were flavored with Thai green curry and were excellent bites. The smoked pork taco was also very much a stand out, the smoked flavors contrasted well with the freshness and it relief belt as if this taco provided bang for buck. The other dishes were well executed. A crab gazpacho with grape and other aromatic flavors as the base was well done but there was not much crab and so did not feel as if it was a particularly worthwhile dish to get. The grape flavor was also somewhat too prominent for my liking, but the dish was refreshing and light as promised. The brussels sprouts were solid but not particularly memorable. The oyster taco was slightly overburdened by slaw and proved somewhat more tangy than what was called. I would definitely come back for the clams and the smoked pork taco and would be interested to taste the raw preparations as well as the fried chicken taco next time.

Thanks to Yelp for leading us to Casa Pearl!…read more We were charging our car for a roadtrip at the Wawa next door and was looking for something a little more elevated than a sub to tide us over for dinner. The high reviews and the bumpin' scene outside led us to Casa Pearl. A quick look around, we thought that we might have to find a place more kid friendly but the lovely hostess assured us that they were in fact welcoming to the under ten set. So with a few kids menus and crayons in hand, we all ended up having the best rest stop dinner of our life! Everything was served tapas style and service was extremely quick so we were able to get fully fed during out 45 minute charging session. Truly a win. Kiddos loved the chicken tenders, chicken quesadillas, and tostones. I loved my margarita (no super sweet mix here, this was some good stuff), brussel sprouts, and chargrilled oysters. My husband LOVED the chicharrones and pimento cheese dip as well and was happy by how GF friendly everything was. We would definitely come back if we are in the area again.

We randomly chose this place versus another Mexican restaurant in Roanoke Rapids 40 more minutes away. We were pleasantly surprised with the selection, service, and how fast our food was prepared and served hot. For starters they give you chips and salsa like most other Mexican restaurants. I'd rate the salsa 3/5 stars...more onion and cilantro please. However, they go the extra mile and give you queso with the chips and salsa. It's not your typical queso either, it's queso with creamed cheese in it giving it some extra flavor versus plain quesos. I got the lunch quesadilla fajitas with beef and it was tasty. Not really a pickup and eat type of meal especially after I piled on the guac, sour cream, and lettuce. It was crispy, hot and delicious. Perfect serving size for lunch. My girlfriend got the lunch fajitas. They came out sizzling hot in a small cast iron pan. Probably half the size of the dinner portion if I had to guess. Again, the perfect amount for lunch. She ate it with just the rice and beans to make it gluten-free as it was served with flour tortillas. The corn chips did not give her any problems either. All in all it was a fast stop in a small town. It was very inexpensive as well. When we were leaving a sweet old man in his Sunday best came over to look at our bikes and chat us up about the "Jap" bikes he used to ride back in the day.
