I'm quite disappointed with the food at Pepe Osaka's. To preface, the Mexican-Japanese fusion food I ate in Mexico was fantastic, so I may have been presumptuous with my expectations here. Our server gave us an extremely thorough run-down of the menu. I wasn't feeling tacos, so I ordered a poké bowl and my husband ordered the ramen. The rice in the poké bowl was super mushy which kind if ruined the whole bowl for me. The ramen bowl was not hitting either. I expected a birria consomé-type broth, but the flavor was just off, almost spoiled. Up side is that the margaritas were delicious! But I'd say skip the restaurants around this area and just opt for fast food. It's way more worth your money!

The drank tasted funny so we asked the server/bartender if this was a mocktail, she said yes, we said so the kids can have this and she said YES. At the end of our meal paying our check, the server was going over out check saying something about the mocktail. My husband(sober 3 years) mentioned something again about the drink. Thats when the server said that there was tequila in the drink. In shock, I repeated what she said and told her I gave a couple sips to my children. Then proceed to ask what their mocktails entailed because any mocktail I know does not have alcohol in there. Also to mention that there signs say "safe for kids"

And kissed by the fire grill. I would not order the so called char broiled care asada, as the kitchen pre slices the beef, so it doesn't actually get a char grill. It's a sad expression of a charrasco. All cook should have knives to slices a properly cooked steak, one would think. One major frustration is the fact that the open kitchen staff are blasting their own music whilst the Spanish guitar trio is also playing. While perhaps those sitting farther in the restaurant cannot hear the kitchen staff music. Those at the bar fale and the communal table behind the bar are going to be annoyed by having to listen to music by a kitchen staff that should not be having music playing. It is an open concept kitchen! The bartender Tyler did an excellent job of explaining the menu with descriptions and suggestions based upon my tastes. And assisted when items didn't meet expectations though. Monarch and Mariposa are lucky to have him!

This goes into my list of top ten meals of all time! We received a text ten minutes before our…read morereservation time stating that our table was ready so we would have time to walk across the casino. We arrived and the host showed us immediately to a table, but we requested the bar since there were still seats available. The restaurant was romantic and dark, with an open kitchen so you could watch the chefs create their magic. Tyler was our bartender, server, and entertainer that evening, and helped explain the menu to us, which included a tablet with pictures and descriptions of each meal so you wouldn't be left guessing. He also kept us laughing and we ended up staying longer than planned (and ordering a LOT more than we had planned) because we were enjoying his conversation so much. To start us off with drinks, at Tyler's recommendation, I went for the Smoke Signal (I'm a sucker for Mezcal) and loved the balance of alcohol, smoke and sweetness. Our appetizers were the Fry Bread Esquites - pillowy fry bread topped with perfectly seasoned charred corn, cotija and zesty chipotle aioli, and the Pan Seared Shrimp served with blue corn tortillas, guacamole and the most delicious tomato macha. The shrimp aren't completely peeled, so beware there is more than the tails to remove! For the main meal we split the Pork Tomahawk - the most expensive thing on the menu (besides the steak offerings), and it was worth it! The most tender and moist pork I've ever had, with sweet potato purée, grilled mushrooms, fresh broccolini and a sweet honey chipotle sauce. We were too full for dessert (I honestly haven't consumed so much in one sitting, but it was too good to stop!), but we were able to fit in one more drink at the end. I chose the Sweet Venom, recommended by Tyler, which was a sweeter drink with a floater of Tingala which makes your tongue go numb. Tyler offered us a little splash of the Tingala on its own which was a fun experience! It was a pricey meal for sure, but worth more than every cent we spent. Highly recommend the dishes and beverages we got, and if you're lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar when Tyler is working, you're guaranteed to have a great night!

The Azteca did not disappoint! The red sauce on the chicken enchilada was particularly savory, complex and absolutely delicious, and the chicken moist and flavorful. I am a vegetarian and ordered their vegetarian enchilada plate -- it too was delicious, with spinach, onions and mushrooms perfectly sautéed and a green sauce that complimented without overpowering. And then there is the horchata: creamy, rich, and vanilla-forward. They make it in-house from scratch, unlike that awful powdery stuff so many restaurants use. The salsa and chips were also perfect -- fresh chips, salsa was roasted tomatoes ans again had a perfect flavor balance. The only thing we missed was the flan! Evidently it was so popular it sold out. Next time! The waitress and hostess here were also so kind and accommodating, let us charge our phones as our car charger isn't working and we still have 2 hours to drive! To those reviewers complaining about slow service, I can only say that slow food is good food -- it means the kitchen is preparing everything from scratch. Slow down and enjoy!
